RACE 1
SKY CHANNEL HANDICAP 1600 metres
KARAVAS was slow to begin.
QUITE CHIC and LADY IVOR made contact on jumping away.
HONOUR ROLL pulled hard in the early stages of the event.
Rounding the home turn KARAVAS shifted out and made contact with LADY IVOR on two occasions.
KARAVAS was held up for clear running for a short distance in the straight.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of CHARLIE CHUCKLES trainer Kaye Hill stated that at its last start at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on the 27th February 2000 she had instructed the jockey to ride the gelding in a more forward position however CHARLIE CHUCKLES had raced disappointingly. She added that today she had instructed jockey D. Boland to ride the gelding quiet in the early stages and this apparently suited the horse. Her explanation was noted.
RACE 2
TOURISM SUNSHINE COAST HANDICAP 1000 metres
There were no racing incidents.
RACE 3
XXXX GOLD HANDICAP 1000 metres
As apprentice A. Morrison was indisposed he was replaced on KATINKA by C. Eaton..
COLOUR MY WORLD was slow to begin.
Shortly after the start COUNT IZON and PUISNE came together.
When racing greenly near the 800 metres COUNT IZON got its head up and lost considerable ground.
Near the 100 metres MILLIE’S BID had to be steadied off the heels of FAST FLORIST.
RACE 4
JACK GOWEN OF SAHARA FARMS HANDICAP 1000 metres
There were no racing incidents.
RACE 5
4TAB HANDICAP 1200 metres
GENTEEL BOY was hampered on jumping away between INVOICE and MURTAKA both of which shifted ground.
Near the 200 metres LEGION OF HONOUR shifted out and made contact with MORE PICKINGS.
Near the 50 metres MORE PICKINGS had to be steadied when tightened for room between LEGION OF HONOUR and ALL SPARKLE both of which shifted ground.

When questioned regarding the somewhat disappointing performance of MURTAKA jockey M. Cahill stated that the filly travelled well behind the leaders to the home turn but once placed under pressure failed to run on. M. Cahill’s comments were noted.
A post race Veterinary examination of MURTAKA failed to reveal any abnormality.
As M. Privato was stood down by the Club Doctor following Race 5 he was replaced on TOPIYM (Race 7) by J. Taylor and on LA REGINA (Race 8) by S. Shield
RACE 6
SUPER QRIS ADDED STAKES HANDICAP 1200 metres
Shortly after the start CHAPEL GREY and SAM’S APPEAL brushed on two occasions.
CHAPEL GREY had to be steadied off the heels of NOK which shifted out and made the 800 turn awkwardly.
WOMANHOOD struck the heels of CITIBEST near the 700 metres.
A post race Veterinary examination of CITIBEST revealed the colt had sustained a small laceration to the off hind leg.
RACE 7
TAB QUEENSLAND HANDICAP 1300 metres
Shortly after the start TOPIYM shifted in and made contact with ANGEL OF DARKNESS.
Jockey A. Pattillo was placed at a disadvantage when CHANGING GEAR was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of ST. RAUTAI trainer J. Casey stated that in his opinion the gelding is not suited to racing inside of other runners. His explanation was noted.
A post race Veterinary examination of ST. RAUTAI failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 8
NOOSA TRUSS HANDICAP 1400 metres
YORK RITE jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start SA VA was tightened for room between LA REGINA and PRINCE RAUTAI which shifted in slightly.
Approaching the 1300 metres YORK RITE had to be steadied off the heels of FLIRT A LITTLE which was taken in by TAVARAISE.
Near the 100 metres SA VA had to be steadied off the heels of PERFECT AFFAIR which shifted in when tiring.
A post race Veterinary examination of SIN TWIN which raced disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormality.
All winners were swabbed.
