STEWARDS REPORT Sunday July 30th 2000

WEATHER: Fine
TRACK RATING: Good
Moveable rail out 4 metres from the 1800 to the 500 then out 3 metres from the 500 metres to the winning post.

RACE 1
BATTERY HILL PLATE 1600 metres

RIGHT ACE, EL SENOR and TELL DARCY were all slow to begin.
Near the 800 metres GOYAHKLA had to be steadied off the heels of EL SENOR which shifted in momentarily.
Passing the 600 metres RIGHT ACE had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of TELL DARCY.

RACE 2
CARTERS RIDGE HANDICAP 1200 metres

PAIUTEE was declared a late scratching at 10.25am when the filly was found to have an elevated temperature.
TRUMP OF COLOGNE jumped away awkwardly and shifted out hampering MA FOI, ACADEMY CHIEF, KAVAMP and DOUBLE DEMON.
On jumping away BAKATIME was hampered between OUR CHEVAL and FINNIGAN, both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 900 metres BAKATIME fractured both sesamoids in the near side front and was retired from the event. ACADEMY CHIEF which was following had to shift out abruptly and made contact with DOUBLE DEMON.
BAKATIME was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of FINNIGAN today as compared to its last start where the colt finished 12 of 13 at the gold Coast on July 1st 2000, trainer Lindsay Gough stated that FINNIGAN had raced greenly and was trapped wide on that occasion. Mr. Gough further stated that he added blinkers for today’s run and this may have attributed to the improved performance of FINNIGAN.

RACE 3
DIDDILLIBAH HANDICAP 1200 metres

Approaching the 1000 metres PRINCE OF MAGIC had to be checked when tightened for room between MISS CRABOPPLE which was taken out by ANOTHER POSSESSION and BAGPIPE BLUES which shifted in slightly. Apprentice K. Gray rider of BAGPIPE BLUES was reprimanded and advised she must be fully clear when shifting ground in future.
A post race Veterinary examination of EYE IN THE SKY failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4
LANDSBOROUGH HANDICAP 1000 metres

CHESTER BAY was slow to begin.
ALL BLOOM was inclined to lay out from the 800 metres until after entering the straight.
Approaching the 600 metres SILVERSON commenced to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of MY LANCER.
Approaching the 400 metres CHESTER BAY shifted out and brushed SILVERSON.
From the 400 metres until inside the 200 metres CHESTER BAY attempted to take a narrow run to the inside of SILVERSON where there was insufficient room. Jockey T. Brown rider of CHESTER BAY was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.

Trainer Ron Noud was advised that HOME TEAM which bled during the event, will now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing.

RACE 5
MOUNTAIN CREEK HANDICAP 1600 metres

RENFREW and PURPORT were both slow to begin.
Near the 400 metres JACK’S DREAM shifted out to improve and made contact with VERSAILLES on several occasions. S. Seamer rider of JACK’S DREAM was reminded that there must be room to improve before attempting a run of that nature in future.

RACE 6
NAMBOUR HANDICAP 1400 metres

As C .Reith was indisposed he was replaced on FEE FI PO by S. Galloway.
HURDY GURDY was slow to begin.
J. Hoopert rider of TEKWILA accidentally dropped his whip at the entrance to the straight.

RACE 7
PACIFIC PARADISE HANDICAP 1400 metres

Shortly after the start NOTAEH LAD was inconvenienced between FINAL BID and INVESTMENT TRUST both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 1200 metres INVESTMENT TRUST had to be steadied off the heels of STAY ME BROKE which was taken in by COUP DE GRACE. A. Baker rider of COUP DE GRACE was reprimanded over this incident and advised to exercise more care in future.
SPY MISSION shifted out making the home turn and made contact with WAIT AND HOPE.

RACE 8
WOOMBYE HANDICAP 1400 metres

Approaching the 300 metres FRESHLY SQUEEZED shifted in and made contact with RENAZZO.
A short distance later FRSHLY SQUEEZED had to be steadied when tightened for room between RENAZZO and BELLTARNI which shifted in.




All winners were swabbed.
