RACE 1
BELLBIRD CREEK HANDICAP 1800 metres
Trainer John Morish was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for TAKE YOUR TIME by the required time.
Trainer John Morish’s representative reported that TAKE YOUR TIME lost the off side front plate in running.
A post race Veterinary examination of SUCCESS ETOILE which performed disappointingly failed to reveal any visible abnormality.
RACE 2
CONONDALE NATIONAL PARK PLATE 1000 metres
STEAKOUT reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground.
IKEYMO jumped away awkwardly.
L. Deguara was reprimanded for failing to stop riding KRONA ROSE with the whip when the mare continued to shift ground in the straight.
RACE 3
OBI OBI CREEK HANDICAP 1400 metres
DOUBLE DEMON jumped awkwardly and made contact with SHADOW WAR.
CABERNET ROAD jumped away awkwardly.
MANDINKA and NIGHT IN VIENNA were both slow to begin.
Approaching the 600 metres CABERNET ROAD shifted in momentarily tightening MIDNIGHT SONG.
After passing the 100 metres CABERNET ROAD shifted in and away from DAPPLE VIEW hampering BIG GAME and MANDINKA.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BIG GAME John Hawkes’ representative stated that the gelding has never performed well on a rain affected track and BIG GAME had been trapped wide throughout the event.
JODI’S DANCER received a laceration to the near side hind during the event.
Trainer Jan Wright was advised that VARNIE which bled will now incur the mandatory three month ban from racing.
RACE 4
COOLOOLABIN DAM HANDICAP 1200 metres
After jumping away awkwardly ARC BURN shifted in and made contact with MY LANCER.
Near the 800 metres MY LANCER shifted in momentarily taking FORCED ASHORE in on to the hind quarters of MY PROUD MAN. In this incident FORCED ASHORE became unbalanced and shifted out having to be checked off the heels of MY LANCER. Apprentice N. Evans was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
When questioned trainer Lee Freedman’s representative Mr. R. Catheral stated that BOND had never raced on a rain affected track before and he thought this was the reason for the disappointing performance today.
A post race Veterinary examination of BOND failed to reveal any abnormality.
Following the running of Race 4 the track was downgraded to SLOW.

RACE 5
WEYBA CREEK MANGROVE WALK HANDICAP 1200 metres
Approaching the 800 metres AUSSIE DAPPER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NO INTENTION which shifted in.
A post race Veterinary examination of AUSSIE DAPPER failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 6
TOURISM SUNSHINE COAST HANDICAP 1200 metres
As A. Cowie rider of BOOTMAN was injured during the preliminaries he was subsequently replaced on the gelding by M. Carson.
PROSPECTOR KING jumped away awkwardly and a short distance after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room between RED WASP and LIKE THE WATSONS both of which shifted ground.
Near the 800 metres BOWEN SPECIAL had to be steadied off the heels of ZEDALITY which was taken in momentarily by BOOTMAN.
RACE 7
JUST NORTH OF BRISBANE HANDICAP 1200 metres
BENTOTA shifted out at the start and made heavy contact with MAURICE causing that horse to become unbalanced and blunder and as a result made contact with SHRUG.
DRUMCLIFF and CHIMING ON came together on jumping away.
Shortly after the start the saddle on ALL BLOOM shifted forward placing A. Erhart at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.
When questioned regarding the poor performance of SHRUG jockey J. Taylor stated that in his opinion the filly failed to handle the slow track conditions today. His explanation was noted.
A post race Veterinary examination of SHRUG failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 8
JUST PERFECT HANDICAP 1400 metres
SANAKA was declared a late scratching at 7.55am when the gelding was found to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Michael Lakey was advised a Veterinary Certificate must be obtained for SANAKA prior to its next race start.
Following a telephone call from trainer Ian Gleeson HYDRO’S BOY was declared a late scratching at 4..20pm
BON MARAUDER was slow to begin.
DIET DAZE over raced and refused to settle in the early and middle stages of the event.
All winners plus VARNIE (Race 3) were swabbed.
