Moveable rail out 6 metres from the 1800 to the 800 metres then 10 metres from the 800 to the winning post.

RACE 1
CENTENNIAL HANDICAP 1000 metres
As A. Wheadon was indisposed he was replaced on LORD TENNYSON by A. Gillett.
The start was delayed when the electronic barriers failed and the start had to be affected manually.
After jumping away awkwardly BUCKLERS HARD shifted out and made contact with CHARMISS.
LORD TENNYSON which was slow to begin raced ungenerously for some distance and approaching the 700 metres, when being steadied off the heels of GREY EMPIRE, shifted in and made contact with ALPINE LULLABY.
LORD TENNYSON continued to race ungenerously and approaching the 500 metres had to be steadied off the heels of BUCKLERS HARD.
RACE 2
2001 HANDICAP 1400 metres
Due to an office error HEY HAROLD was declared a late scratching at 8.30am.
As apprentice N. Homann was indisposed she was replaced on KAKARU by apprentice C. Eaton.
ENCOMIA was slow to begin.
A’SQUADRO jumped away awkwardly.
For a short distance shortly after the start A’SQUADRO and BONELLI raced in restricted room between CHIC CENTURIA and KAKARU.
JEST GREAT shifted out after making the 800 metres turn awkwardly
TRILOBITE pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.
Making the home turn MARX had to be steadied off the heels of TROPICAL AIR.
After leaving the 200 metres TRILOBITE shifted out under pressure and made heavy contact with ENCOMIA. As a result of this incident ENCOMIA became unbalanced and shifted out inconveniencing HOT KEY. Jockey C. Kearney rider of TRILOBITE was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of TROPICAL AIR from its 9th of 14 at the SCTC on the 26th December 2000 trainer J. Canavan explained that on that particular day TROPICAL AIR was slowly away and got back near the tail of the field however finished strongly. Mr. Canavan further stated that in his opinion the 1000 metres distance was too short and the mare was more suited to the 1400 metres of today.
RACE 3
PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP 1000 metres
The start was delayed when D. Gill was dislodged from CHICK CHUCK on the way to the barriers and after being examined by the Ambulance officers was passed fit to fulfil her engagement. CHICK CHUCK was quickly restrained and was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to start.
After jumping away awkwardly JACKHAMMER shifted out and brushed DARK RUMOUR.
After being slow to begin FORCED ASHORE was tightened for room shortly after the start by PRIDE OF BANMORE and SAHARA SAINT both of which shifted ground.
After being briefly tightened by CHICK CHUCK approaching the 700 metres JACKHAMMER shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of SHOW DEFIANCE.
Rounding the home turn CHICK CHUCK shifted in momentarily tightening JACKHAMMER in on to PRIDE OF BANMORE.

RACE 4
YALUMBA WINES HANDICAP 1600 metres
IMPOSITION was slow to begin and refused to settle for some distance after the start.
Near the 200 metres IMPOSITION shifted in under pressure and had to be checked off the heels of DROP THE LOT.
Rounding the home turn BANDAGES shifted out to improve taking CROSS WORDS wider on the track.
HALO MAN was forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 5
CALOUNDRA R.S.L. HANDICAP 1600 metres
As apprentice A. Green was indisposed she was replaced on PEE AITCH DEE by apprentice R. Pittman.
SUPERIOR RED was slow to begin.
Near the 1300 metres DUNEISM had to be steadied when tightened for room between DIAMOND DANE and CANGAZE both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the 150 metres PARTASAN had to be steadied off the heels of the tiring DUNEISM.
Trainer Tony Bita and apprentice J. Bryant were questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on SUPERIOR RED in the early and middle stages of the event. Apprentice Bryant stated her instructions were to ride the gelding where it felt comfortable however Stewards deemed that when SUPERIOR RED dropped some ten lengths behind the 2nd last horse riding instructions should have been disregarded and she was expected to put her horse under pressure far sooner that what she did on this occasion.
Stewards reprimanded apprentice J. Bryant in that she erred in her handling of SUPERIOR RED. J. Bryant was advised that her conduct throughout the inquiry was far below what was expected of a senior apprentice.
A post race Veterinary examination of SUPERIOR RED failed to review any current significant problems.
RACE 6
MAGIC MILLIONS SUPER QRIS MINIBOWL HANDICAP 1200 metres
Trainer Darryl Gollan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for SHEER FRIGHT by the required time.
After jumping away awkwardly EXSULTARE shifted out and made contact with the hind quarters of SWIRLING STAR.
MISS PFEIFFER and MISTY RIVER made contact on jumping away.
Making the 800 metres turn PROUD shifted out and brushed STEM THE TIDE.
SEANNA was held up for some distance after leaving the 600 metres.
A post race Veterinary examination of PROUD and MILATTA which both raced disappointingly failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 7
XXXX HANDICAP 1600 metres
As N. Jolly was stood down by the Club Doctor following Race 6 he was replaced on TEGASHIMA by P. Wolfgram.
MIRACLE JAKE and KILORA QUEEN were both slow to begin.
Near the 1300 metres LOCHDHU had to be steadied when tightened for room between PIMPALA SPIRIT and GOLD SEA both of which shifted ground.
MOET MISS was held up for some distance in the straight.
POCKETSFIL was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 8
ANNIVERSARY OF FEDERATION HANCIAP 1200 metres
As D. Craven was stood down by the Club Doctor he was replaced on SUNSHINE YALLAH by Jason Taylor.
SUNSHINE YALLAH jumped high in the air at the start and lost considerable ground.
CAPANNELLE was a little slow to begin.
Near the 900 metres CAPANNELLE was tightened for room between RAWCOMOTION and ALL IN AWE which was taken in by ZANGIEF. Apprentice A. Merritt rider of ZANGIEF was reprimanded over this incident and advised to exercise more care in future.
After passing the 600 metres CAPANNELLE shifted out to improve and made contact with HANDY OSCAR on two occasions causing that horse to become unbalanced. K. Pope rider of CAPANNELLE was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
