GENERAL: As Scott Galloway was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 1 NAKED SPUR K. Pope
Race 2 MIDNIGHT SEAS K. Pope
Race 3 SIMPLE SIMON S. Katsidis
Race 5 GLACIES S. Seamer

As apprentice K. Yoshida was indisposed he was replaced on KELKAISER (Race 6) by apprentice M. Dracos.

As L. Roberts was also indisposed he was replaced on YANGAN LAD (Race 8) by P. Spry.

Jockey J. Cerchi was indisposed and was replaced on HULA RUSH (Race 3) by K. Pope.

RACE 1
JACARANDA LODGE HANDICAP 1600 metres

No racing incidents.

RACE 2
UNICENTRAL SUNSHINE COAST HANDICAP 1600 metres

When being steadied approaching the 1200 metres SHARMEEN STAR was inclined to race fiercely.
Passing the 100 metres GEORGE THE RED had to be steadied off the heels of SHARMEEN STAR which shifted in.

RACE 3
NOOSA RIVER HEIGHTS HANDICAP 1000 metres

After jumping away awkwardly VITAL ISSUE shifted out and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of ELI’S LEGACY.
NIGHT ECHO was slow to begin.
On jumping away SIMPLE SIMON shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with MR. COMEDY.
Trainer D. Crumpton was advised that the nomination for ELI’S LEGACY which finished a distant last, will be refused at TAB meetings until there has been an improvement in form.

RACE 4
MONTEREY HANDICAP 850 metres

GENERAL DERBY, JILLINA BLUE, WHO’S CARING and CELENTO were all slow to begin.
A post race Veterinary examination of MINT REGENT revealed the gelding to have sustained a large oedematous lump over the off side foreleg triceps muscle.

RACE 5
SUNSHINE COAST CHILDREN’S THERAPY CENTRE HANDICAP 1300 metres

DANLU, THE MOSSY BANK KID and SHADOW SHOOTER were all slow to begin.
Near the 1100 metres WOMANHOOD shifted in causing ST. ANTON to be tightened for room. As a consequence LUXURY RIDE had to steady to avoid the heels of ST. ANTON. Jockey K. Pope rider of WOMANHOOD was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.
Near the 400 metres SHADOW SHOOTER had to be steadied off the heels of LUXURY RIDE which shifted out to improve. M. Cahill rider of LUXURY RIDE was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
Over the concluding stages THE MOSSY BANK KID shifted out under pressure inconveniencing GLACIES.

RACE 6
PELICAN WATERS RESORT GREY STARS HANDICAP 1300 metres

CAPANNELLE was slow to begin.
MISTY TYCOON jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 7
REED PROPERTY GROUP SUNSHINE COAST CLASSIC 1300 metres

As N. Jolly was stood down by the Club Doctor he was replaced on COLD START by J. Taylor.
Trainer M. Mair was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare a rider for MISS JAKEO by the required time.

RACE 8
VARDON POINT HANDICAP 1000 metres

Jockey J. Taylor rider of CATAINER was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that approaching the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of SPIRIT OF NORWAY causing that gelding to clip the heels of CATAINER and blunder.
J. Taylor was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence at midnight on Wednesday 25th July 2001 and to expire at midnight on Sunday 5th August 2001.
A post race Veterinary examination of KING’S CALL revealed the gelding to have sustained a subcutaneous area of haemorrhage in the right shoulder area.




All winners plus VITAL ISSUE (Race 3) and GENERAL DERBY (Race 4) were swabbed.
