TRACK RATING: Upgraded to good at 10.50am
Moveable rail out 3 metres for the entire circumference.

GENERAL: As jockey Brian Driver was indisposed he was replaced as follows:

RACE 1
SUNCOAST CABS HANDICAP 1600 metres
For some distance after the start OF ARABIA refused to settle.
After passing the 200 metres FERRY IN shifted in and brushed MARINE ROSE.
After passing the 50 metres FERRY IN was disappointed for a run between NAKED SPUR and A LOT OF CLASS.
When questioned regarding his lack of vigour displayed on MARINE ROSE at the top of the straight jockey David Hayse stated he felt that the mare was not travelling well and shortly after straightening ALFRESCO GIRL shifted out which resulted in MARINE ROSE being held up between ALFRESCO GIRL and NAKED SPUR. D. Hayse explained that MARINE ROSE was further hampered near the 200 metres when FERRY IN shifted in and made contact.
Trainer J. Wade confirmed the instructions and indicated he had put blinkers back on the horse today in an endeavour to have MARINE ROSE travel better than it had done at its previous start.
Their explanations were noted.
A post race Veterinary examination of MARINE ROSE failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 2
IDEAL ELECTRICAL HANDICAP 1000 metres
Trainer T. Miller was fined the sum of $50 for nominating NAFANA when ineligible.
Trainer Gerald Ryan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to have the ownership papers for NIGHT ECHO in order. G. Ryan was also advised that NIGHT ECHO will not be permitted to start until this has been effected.
TELLY;S GANG and SEX AND THE CITY were both slow to begin.
SCORE A CENTURY hung out making the home turn taking TRULY TRULY FAIR wider on the track.
Following this incident SCORE A CENTURY continued to hang out and made contact with TRULY TRULY FAIR on several occasions.
Approaching the home turn apprentice M. Kawaguchi angled SEX IN THE CITY out wide on the track. After viewing the film with his master trainer L. Mayfield Smith apprentice M. Kawaguchi was informed that a repeat of a ride such as displayed today would give Stewards no alternative but to recommend that his licence be downgraded.
RACE 3
PROGRAMMED MAINTENANCE SERVICES HANDICAP 1200 metres
ORIGIN WARRIOR blundered badly on jumping away dislodging its rider N. Jolly.
WHITE RAJA and AGAIN GAL were both slow to begin.
Rounding the home turn SKIMMING shifted out and brushed PRIME INVESTMENT.
A post race Veterinary examination of NADUCE revealed the gelding to be recovering in a slower than normal manner.
A post race Veterinary examination of WHITE RAJA failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4
CALOUNDRA FLORIST HANDICAP 1800 metres
As apprentice D. Wheeler was to be overweight he was replaced on ALL MANJACK by M. Rodd.
D. Wheeler was subsequently fined the sum of $400.
When questioned regarding the seemingly poor performance of NOTICE jockey S.Galloway stated that the mare pulled hard from shortly after the start until approaching the 1000 metres. He further explained that the connections felt that NOTICE may have come to he end of its preparation and they would consider giving the horse a spell.
RACE 5
BARKERS REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING HANDICAP 1000 metres
When questioned regarding the reason for not riding SOVEREIGN IMPULSE out to the finishing line jockey A. Merritt explained that when FAMILY OF SONG shifted in abruptly when not sufficiently clear he was obliged to stop riding to prevent him from running up on to that gelding’s heels. His explanation was noted.
RACE 6
THE MAGAZINE PUBLISHING COMPANY HANDICAP 1200 metres
Trainer D Churchill was fined the sum of $100 for failing to withdraw SO RADICAL by the required time.
SUN SCREEN was declared a late scratching at 3.34pm when the gelding refused to be loaded into the barriers.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on SUN SCREEN were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 13c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 12c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer T. Miller was advised that SUN SCREEN must pass an official trial prior to its next race start.
Apprentice M. Kawaguchi rider of MCRAVE accidentally dropped his whip at the 200 metres.
RACE 7
BRACKEN RIDGE TAVERN HANDICAP 1300 metres
Approaching the 1000 metres GOLDEN TRAIL was inclined to over race and continued to do so for some distance.
RACE 8
TEWANTIN NOOSA R.S.L. HANDICAP 1400 metres
BARKEEP jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the 400 metres NORTHERN HEIGHTS attempted a doubtful run between BARKEEP and DANZIGAH and in doing so struck the heels of BARKEEP and fell.
All winners were swabbed.
