Moveable rail out 2 metres for the entire circumference.

GENERAL: Re: SCTC – 23rd September 2001.
The explanation of trainer Neil Strong was accepted as to the reason RISING AGAIN was declared a late scratching due to the condition of the track. Mr. Strong was advised that RISING AGAIN will now be unable to race on a track rated slow or worse.
Trainer F. W. Mitchell was fined the sum of $50 for presenting and racing CANYON CREST with blinkers on 23rd September 2001.
RACE 1
NATIONAL MINI STORAGE HANDICAP 1600 metres
Due to a misunderstanding G. Lynch was listed as the rider of PEROXIDE where as the gelding was ridden by B. Appo.
PEROXIDE was slow to begin.
BOLD AND BRASH pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the event.
RACE 2
TENSENS BAYWEST HANDICAP 1400 metres
RISING AGAIN and SENJ were both slow to begin.
When the pace slackened approaching the 800 metres MANISTEE had to be steadied off the heels of CHARVILLA.
RACE 3
SUNSHINE COAST PARTYHIRE HANDICAP 1300 metres
WANCHA was forced to race wide throughout the event.
For some distance in the straight LONGJETTY JACK was held up for clear running and unable to improve.
A post race Veterinary examination of WANCHA failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 4
MIDAS MUFFLERS HANDICAP 1200 metres
EL SENOR was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the event and passed fit to start.
BIBIANNA CHARIOT jumped away awkwardly.
APULLSA shifted out on jumping away and made heavy contact with DASH O’LUCK.
APULLSA had to be steadied off the heels of BIBIANNA CHARIOT which shifted in approaching the 1000 metres. M. McDonald rider of BIBLANNA CHARIOT was advised to exercise more care in future.
THE OUTBACK RAT raced greenly for some distance rounding the 800 metres turn.
RANCODA was forced to race wide throughout the event.
Near the 600 metres SCORE A CENTURY which was inclined to lay out, had to be steadied off the heels of IMAGO which was taken in momentarily by RANCODA.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SHATTERSTAR trainer Jason McLachlan stated that the gelding had worked very well leading up to today’s event and in his opinion SHATTERSTAR was a good winning chance and he could offer no excuse for the performance today. He further stated he would advised Stewards should any condition become apparent during the next few days to explain the gelding’s performance..
A post race Veterinary examination of SHATTERSTAR failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACE 5
SUNSHINE COAST REALTY HANDICAP 1000 metres
FOLLOW THE ARROW was a little slow to begin.
RACE 6
EMPLOYMENT NATIONAL HANDICAP 1000 metres
Due to family commitments D.Tarrant was unable to fulfil his engagement on NEVADA JIM and the gelding was ridden by L. Deguara.
MAGICAL MAN and DANZIP were both slow to begin.
A post race Veterinary examination of RORY’S UNDERCOVER which compounded in the early stages of the straight, revealed no significant findings however the colt coughed on a number of occasions after the event.
RACE 7
VELVET WATERS HANDICAP 1400 metres
When the pace slackened approaching the 1000 metres SEMISONIC which was pulling hard, shifted out and struck the heels of SURF JESTER.
Approaching the 400 metres BOMBAY SAPPHIRE shifted out to improve and made contact with ENEMY FIRE.
Approaching the 300 metres ENEMY FIRE shifted in under pressure and brushed BOMBAY SAPPHIRE.
RACE 8
KAWANA WATERS BOWLS CLUB INC. HANDICAP 1000 metres
As apprentice D. Wheeler was unable to fulfil his riding engagement on SCENIC FLIGHT he was replaced by apprentice M. Dracos.
BEAUTY KINGDOM jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making contact with MARCELO and hampered SOVEREIGN FLAME which was slow to begin.
