WEATHER – FINE TRACK – HEAVY
GENERAL: As apprentice V. Caddy was indisposed the following riding replacements were approved. Race 8 - POETIC EARL – L. Appo, Race 9 – SCALLION – L. Appo.
RACE 1: S & D POWERLINE CONTRACTORS HANDICAP – 1000M.
KALINGA NORTH was slow to begin.
REGAL SAPPHIRE jumped away awkwardly and a short distance later had to be steadied between ATEOKTAS and GOLDRO which shifted out.
Near the 800 metres SPORT STAR shifted in and had to be steadied off the heels of IN THE JUNGLE.
RACE 2: COLEMAN DRAINAGE HANDICAP – 1000M.
Prior to the event BLAZABELLE broke away from the stablehand whilst being saddled and after being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon was passed fit to start.
LUDLOW LAD and SUSIE TELLS ALL jumped away awkwardly.
SYNSATIONAL was inclined to lay in making the home turn.
At the entrance to the straight MAID DANE shifted out and made contact with AREPO which became unbalanced. A short distance later APERO was inclined to lay in and made contact with MAID DANE on several occasions.
A post race Veterinary examination of SYNSATIONAL failed to reveal any abnormality.
RACE 3: THE MAGAZINE PUBLISHING COMPANY HANDICAP – 1000M.
After jumping away awkwardly VITAL ISSUE shifted in and made heavy contact with ZIFFITY JUGAH.
NOEL’S SUPER shifted out abruptly at the start and lost considerable ground.
Approaching the 900 metres LOUD BLUE shifted in and made contact with VITAL ISSUE on several occasions.

A post race Veterinary examination of NOEL’S SUPER which finished a distant last failed to reveal any abnormality.
Trainer D. Crumpton was advised that NOEL’S SUPER will not be eligible to race in TAB meetings until the gelding races competitively at country meetings.
RACE 4: SUNCOAST CABS FARECARD HANDICAP – 1400M.
After jumping away awkwardly CHAUDIE GIRL shifted in and made heavy contact with I’M FIGHTIN.
Shortly after the start GRAND POOBAH had to be checked when tightened for room between CORRETJA and MISTER BRAIN which shifted out and away from RUSSNIAK.
A short distance later GRAND POOBAH shifted out hampering CORRETJA and SHEZANNIE.
Making the 800 metres turn CORRETJA had to be steadied off the heels of SHEZANNIE which shifted out.
RACE 5: COLEMAN 10TH ANNIVERSARY HANDICAP – 1200M.
CREPITATE lashed out and made heavy contact with the back of the stall prior to the start and after being inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon was passed fit to start.
TOPPA and FAIRY MUSIC were both slow to begin.
CANADIAN COURTING slow to begin.
Making the 800 metres turn when the pace slackened SCORE A CENTURY commenced to over race and shifted out and had to be checked to avoid the heels of TOPPA.
Near the 800 metres TEARDROP blundered.
After leaving the 800 metres SCORE A CENTURY commenced to over race for some distance and approaching the 600 metres improved up on to the heels of TOPPA and had to be steadied.
GOMATTY was forced to race in a three wide position for the entire event.
RACE 6: HOURIGAN’S RETRAVISION HANDICAP - 1300M.
ANYONE WE KNOW and SWAPAN were both slow to begin.

RACE 7: CALOUNDRA RSL HANDICAP – 1600M.
Acting on Veterinary advice I’M A THUNDER was declared a late scratching at 7.55am when the filly was found to be lame in the near fore. Trainer Harold Norman was advised a Veterinary clearance must be obtained for the filly prior to its next race start.
Prior to the start CALL TO HONOUR broke through the barriers and was quickly restrained by its rider D. Nickolic. After being inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon CALL TO HONOUR was passed fit to start.
POWER SNAP and SHARMEEN STAR jumped away awkwardly. SHARMEEN STAR then shifted out and bumped KARAVAS on a number of occasions.
When the pace slackened near the 1200 metres CALL TO HONOUR improved up on to the heels of CLANGER and had to be steadied.
JUST CASSIDY over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
RACE 8: PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP – 1000M.
Near the 100 metres FROM THE CELLAR had to steady and alter course when disappointed for a run to the inside of DITTYDOO. Apprentice M. Rice rider of DITTYDOO was advised to exercise more care in future.
KIITOS SBAZEBA MOI and BELLATRIX were both forced to race wide throughout the event.
RACE 9: AUSSIE WORLD HANDICAP – 1600M.
Prior to the event jockey D. Nikolic requested FLAMING GOD be inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon who found no lameness and permitted the gelding to start. Subsequent to the event the Club Veterinary Surgeon further inspected FLAMING GOD and reported the appearance of apparent chronic knee changes to the off side fore leg. Trainer R. Pattenden’s representative was advised that a Veterinary clearance must be obtained for FLAMING GOD prior to its next race start.
CITY RHYTHM was slow to begin.
FLAMING GOD raced wide throughout the event.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
