S.C.T.C. STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 20.10.02

STEWARDS PANEL: Mr G Ireland (Chairman), Mr D Collingwood, Mr C McLune, Mr M Flynn, Mr M Tutt .

WEATHER: Fine TRACK: Good

RACE 1: NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING HANDICAP – 850M.

SHOWOFF GIRL and OUR GIRL ANNIE were both slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA QUEEN and TAR BABY brushed on jumping away.

Near the 700 metres THRONE OF GOLD had to be steadied off the heels of HEAD FOR COVER which shifted in abruptly.

RACE 2: LOVE & PARTNERS HANDICAP – 1400M.

BANNING’S PAGE jumped away awkwardly.

QUAM CLEERITER and SAGIT HERO brushed on jumping away.

RACE 3: PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP – 1200M.

Trainer S MacKinnon was fined the sum of $50 for presenting FOCUSED to the enclosure with the incorrect gear.

KALINGA NORTH jumped away awkwardly and was further hampered by COUNT TARSHO which shifted out shortly after the start.

SPORT STAR was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 800 metres CHIEF SEDUCER was inclined to race erratically for some distance and at the 700 metres CHIEF SEDUCER struck the running rail.
At the same stage SHED THE LIGHT made heavy contact with the running rail.

When the pace slackened approaching the 700 metres OMARA had to be steadied off the heels of GHENGIS KHAN.

On entering the straight CHIEF SEDUCER was held up for a short distance behind the tiring SPORT STAR.

POWER PACIFIC was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 4: COLLECTION HOUSE LIMITED HANDICAP – 1600M.

As jockey Danny Craven was indisposed he was replaced on TOUCH OF LARCENY by S Galloway.

SMART DANCER shifted in on jumping away and made heavy contact with DEPUTY LADY.

CERAUNO was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 100 metres SHE WILL had to be steadied when tightened for room between ROYAL BOX and DANE GRANDE both of which shifted ground.

Apprentice A Best rider of JABBA THE HUTT was severely reprimanded for steading his mount at the 1200 metres to a point where ROYAL BOX improved up on to the heels of that gelding and had to be checked. As a result LUSKIN’S RISING which was following had to be steadied and shift out to avoid the heels of ROYAL BOX.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of KAZAKH BEAU trainer S Dwyer stated that the gelding had over raced at its two most previous starts however after removing the blinkers today he felt that KAZAKH BEAU would be more inclined to settle and be able to finish the race off better.

RACE 5: CALOUNDRA RSL HANDICAP – 1200M.

As jockey Daniel Schmidt was indisposed he was replaced on POWER SNAP by C Reith.

RACE 6: VELVET WATERS RESTAURANT HANDICAP – 1000M.

The start was delayed when SANSTER became fractious in the barriers after being hard to load. Trainer S Kumpikas was advised a warning has been placed on the mare regarding its barrier manners.

At the start WRESTED, ZEDAFFAIRS and SANSTER were all severely hampered between MIRROR and PRINCE SAMURAI which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider L Deguara. A short distance later ZEDAFFAIRS struck the heels of SANSTER and blundered. As a result of this incident MIRROR was taken out on to the hind quarters of BR’ISLAND BOY and became unbalanced.

MCGINTY ROSE was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Rounding the home turn ZEDAFFAIRS had to be steadied when tightened for room between ADORABELLA and SPECTACULAR SKY which shifted out slightly.

RACE 7: QUEENSLAND WINNERS CLUB HANDICAP – 1200M.

GLADMAC and LEROY’S MAGIC were both slow to begin.

SPY KING was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

Passing the 800 metres both GLADMAC and CAMBRAD commenced to over race.


RACE 8: QUEENSLAND WINNERS CLUB HANDICAP – 1400M.

Approaching the 800 metres CANTANTES shifted out and brushed CYMBALIST.

Apprentice Michael McDonald was fined the sum of $200 for weighing in in excess of 0.5kg overweight on SIRDA BOY.
