S.C.T.C. STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 16.02.03

PANEL: Mr G Ireland (Chairman), Mr D Collingwood, Mr C McLune, Mr W Moore, Mr. S Hurford (Cadet).

TRACK RATING: Good

General: As G Baker was indisposed the following riding replacements were approved:
Race 3 DOC HOLLYWOOD J Powell
Race 5 LAGER WALTZ S Galloway
Race 8 CARRIBEAN BENNY S Galloway

Apprentice B Albuino was fined the sum of $50 for failing to produce his letter of authority at the Beaudesert Race Meeting on 14th February 2003.

RACE 1: BRAGGS SIGNS HANDICAP – 1600M.

As apprentice Z Purton failed to arrive on course to fulfil his engagement on WILD BY NATURE he was replaced by jockey C Whiteley.
Z Purton was subsequently fined the sum of $100.

TECHNICAL ANALYSIS jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making contact with WILD BY NATURE.

Approaching the 800 metres JACOMOH shifted out making slight contact with FREEWILL.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of DORIN DONNA trainer Frank Maher stated he believed the further distance of today’s event suited DORIN DONNA than the shorter distance at her two previous starts.

RACE 2: PLACE MAT QTIS ADDED STAKES HANDICAP – 1600M.

SAVE ME A SONG was slow to begin.

Jockey Phillip Moodie rider of SUPER FRIEND was reprimanded for taking a run after leaving the 300 metres where there was doubtful room causing LE BANKER to be steadied and CRAFTY SCOTSMAN to be hampered.


RACE 3: EMPLOYMENT NATIONAL HANDICAP – 1000M.

Acting on Veterinary advice OUR COGNAC was declared a late scratching at 1.19pm after the gelding reared and struck its head on the barriers.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on OUR COGNAC were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 27c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 19c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.
Trainer Bruce Brown was advised OUR COGNAC must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
BANJO BOY which was in the adjoining stall was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to start.

Rounding the home turn EVERY WHICH WAY had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of COMIQUE DREAM.

CRAIGLEA LACE was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 4: PITCHERS HOSPITALITY SUPPLIES HANDICAP – 1600M.

Following the running of Race 3 apprentice Z Purton was stood down by the Club Doctor and replaced on NEUTRAL SKY by jockey C Whiteley.

Due to a racebook error S Galloway was shown as the rider of both WARRIOR TRADER and PITCH BLACK whereas WARRIOR TRADER was ridden by J Powell.

RED INTRO was slow to begin.

RACE 5: BRACKEN RIDGE TAVERN HANDICAP – 2200M.

Near the 1800 metres BRANDY SUCCESS had to be steadied off the heels of COTTAGE ROOF which shifted in.

Leaving the 200 metres RISKY BUSINESS shifted out under pressure inconveniencing NEDESTO.

RACE 6: POWERCO AUSTRALIA HANDICAP – 1000M.

FELICITATE, RUBIES AND PEARLS and FAIRY MUSIC were all slow to begin.

FELICITATE lost the near hind plate during the event.

RACE 7: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE PTY LTD HANDICAP – 1400M.

SHANNON STAR jumped away awkwardly.

GLACIES which jumped away awkwardly was further hampered by HELL RAISER which shifted out on jumping away

OUR DANERAC, BUCK WHAN and MING’S FINALE were all tightened for room between CELTIC DANE and ELECT A SONG which shifted out shortly after the start.

Passing the 800 metres J Hoopert rider of DOOLIN momentarily allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of MING’S FINALE resulting in MING’S FINALE having to be steadied. J Hoopert (DOOLIN) was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances in future.

Near the 600 metres HELL RAISER shifted out to improve and made contact with MING’S FINALE on several occasions.

A short distance later MING’S FINALE had to be steadied when tightened for room between HELL RAISER and DOOLIN which was inclined to lay in.

Approaching the 300 metres IN CONTROL had to be eased to avoid the heels of HELL RAISER which shifted in.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reasons Z Purton being dislodged from his mount HELL RAISER after leaving the 200 metres.
After taking evidence from K Pope (CREPITATE), M Rice (CELTIC DANE) and S Campton (GLACIES) Stewards adjourned the inquiry until a date to be fixed to enable evidence to be taken from Z Purton.

Approaching the 100 metres IN CONTROL shifted out to improve and in doing so hampered both OUR DANERAC and SHE’S A DISH.

SHE’S A DISH was forced to race wide throughout the event.

BUCK WHAN lost the near hind plate during the event.

RACE 8: SUNCOAST CABS FARECARD HANDICAP – 1200M.

Following the fall in Race 7 apprentice Z Purton was replaced on LUCKY TRADER by C Whiteley.

Making the 800 metres turn UP TO YOU shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with CARRIBEAN BENNY taking that horse wider on the track.

Approaching the 700 metres ALEXANDER’S JOY commenced to over race and had to be steadied off the heels of SCALLION.

CLASSIQUE ROYALE was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight..






All winners were sent to be swabbed.
