GENERAL: As B Stewart was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 3 PEKAN LADY J Stanley
Race 5 DARK TOPAZE Z Purton
Race 8 PANZER W Hokai.

RACE 1: XXXX HANDICAP - 1300M.

SHA ALMA was slow to begin.

Near the 500 metres TYPIFY shifted out to improve forcing BELLE PAREZ wider on the track.

PENNY LONG LASHES was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 2: YALUMBA BAROSSA VARIETALS HANDICAP - 1300M.

Trainer J Symons was fined the sum of $50 for presenting GO CRAZY late on course.

As J Powell was to be overweight he was replaced on THIS SHOOD CLICK by Z Purton. J Powell was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

FEARLESS RACER jumped away awkwardly almost dislodging its rider A Lane.

Approaching the 800 metres IMPORTED PRINCE shifted in abruptly and made contact with DOOGALL'S LUCK.
KING SHALFORD which was following had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DOOGALL'S LUCK.

For a short distance in the straight GO CRAZY was unable to improve when racing between CLASSIC FRONTIER and SPONGE BOB which shifted out.

GO CRAZY then shifted in near the 200 metres slightly inconveniencing FEARLESS RACER.

LIMITED IMPULSE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 3: BLACKLAW CIVIL CONTRACTORS HANDICAP - 1600M.

Trainer G Clunes was fined the sum of $50 for presenting JIMMY WALASKO late on course.

PINK PONTIAC was slow to begin.

SERGEANT PEPPERS was obliged to race wide in the early stages of the event.

Approaching the 1200 metres CRAZY FELLA shifted in when not fully clear of ADAM'S CURSE taking that horse in on to TOPPA causing both horses to be inconvenienced. Apprentice K Cunningham rider of CRAZY FELLA was severely reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.
A short distance later TOPPA shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with ADAM'S CURSE.

Near the 200 metres TOPPA had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THRONG which shifted out. S Galloway rider of THRONG was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future.

RACE 4: RAMADA PELICAN WATERS CLASSIC - 1300M.

Acting on Veterinary advice EFFECTIVELY was declared a late scratching at 8.55am.

As D Craven was indisposed he was replaced on RUN BOO BOO by D Hayes.

As no senior rider was available permission was given for apprentice K Yoshida to replace B Stewart on MISS GLORYHUNTER.

RUN BOO BOO and BRONX KING were both slow to begin.

MISS GLORYHUNTER jumped away awkwardly and made contact with SPECIAL FORTUNE.

Making the first turn RUN BOO BOO shifted out abruptly and at the same stage KALINGA METAL was inclined to race ungenerously.

At the entrance to the straight MISS GLORYHUNTER was held up for clear running behind DESERT SAMBA.

RACE 5: XXXX SUNSHINE COAST GUINEAS - 1600M.

Acting on Veterinary advice ROAD TO SEA was declared a late scratching at 8.55am.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by G Colless rider of 2nd placed AMEX against PAPER KINGS ridden by S Katsidis being declared the winner alleging interference near the 250 metres. After taking evidence from all parties including K Yoshida rider of SHOW BIZ KID and J Powell rider of LAMOND Stewards dismissed the objection on the basis they were of the opinion after initially being taken out by LAMOND SHOW BIZ KID shifted out further taking PAPER KINGS out towards AMEX resulting in that horse being slightly inconveneinced.

AMEX was slow to begin.

Near the 300 metres JOY OF FLIGHT was disappointed for a run between the tiring TOP MARC and DARK TOPAZE.

Near the 250 metres JETSET LASS shifted in and made heavy contact with TOP MARC.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of TOP MARC jockey S Seamer stated that whilst the colt travelled well in front it was immediately under pressure when joined by FIGURATIVE near the 600 metres under pressure. He added that he eased the colt over the concluding stages.
A post race Veterinary examination of TOP MARC failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 6: REED PROPERTY GROUP GLASSHOUSE HANDICAP- 1400M.

Trainer Eric Ropiha was fined the sum of $100 for failing to declare a rider for OSCA WARRIOR by the required time.

As this race was a non claiming event premission was granted for apprentice M Rice to replace B Stewart on YOUTHFUL.

Correct weight was given without W Hokai rider of OSCA WARRIOR weighing in due to him being dislodged after pulling up. (Rule AR 142).

CANADIAN TIME which jumped away awkwardly and lost ground pulled hard in the early stages of the event.

OSCA WARRIOR raced in restricted room and had to be steadied near the 900 metres.

Making the home turn PANORAMA HEIGHTS had to be checked when tightened for room between CONSULAR and ALPINE EXPRESS which was taken wider on the track by POLYGRAM.

A post race Veterinary examination of CARIBOO which finished a distant last revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore.
Trainer Tim Martin stated that CARIBOO will be immediately spelled.

RACE 7: NUMBER ONE RESTAURANT-BAR CALOUNDRA CITY CUP - 2400M.

Z Purton was granted permission to ride WILLIE COMMAND 1kg overweight.




RACE 8: MANSELL BULK HAULAGE HANDICAP - 1200M.

ILLUMINAR pulled hard in the early stages of the event.

Making the entrance to the straight PROMISING JOY shifted out inconveniencing ILLUMINAR.
RUSSIAN KNIGHT which was following had to be steadied.

CROWN REGATTA was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

A post race Veterinary examination of JESTICA which was obliged to race wide and finished at the rear of the field failed to reveal any abnormality.






All winners plus TOP MARC (Race 5) were sent to be swabbed.
