GENERAL: As jockey John Powell was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 1 PICCOLO PRINCESS Z Purton
Race 2 MIRACLE SOUND G Baker
Race 3 CRAIGLEA WARRIOR M Smith-Lester
Race 4 GENERAL EAGLE Z Purton

Apprentice L Fitzsimmons was reprimanded for failing to produce his winning rides book.

Trainer Ross Howard was fined the sum of $50 for failing to notify a rider for ROOKY ROGER (Race 1), DREAM TRAP Race 5) and MADIBA (Race 8) by the requried time.

RACE 1: LEANNE CROOK MEMORIAL HANDICAP - 1600M.

Due to transport difficulties S Galloway was unable to fulfil his engagement on FUN ADDICT and was subsequently replaced by D Brown who was permitted to ride 0.5kg overweight due to lack of suitable riders.

REGAL SECRET and FORESTS were both slow to begin.

TOP HAT CHARLIE reared as the gates were released and lost considerable ground.

Near the 1400 metres TOP HAT CHARLIE had to be steadied off the heels of VIKING LADY which shifted in. TOP HAT CHARLIE then got its head up in the air and raced ungenerously for some distance.

Near the 200 metres TOLOCIN shiftd out slightly and as a result VIKING LADY shifted out and away from that horse resulting in PICCOLO PRINCESS having to be checked. As a consequence VACILLATE which was racing to the outside of PICCOLO PRINCESS also had to be checked.

When questioned as to why FORESTS was reluctant to jump with the field trainer M Crouch's representative D Crouch stated that the horse may be feeling the effects of an extended preparation and FORESTS will now be spelled. Mr Crouch was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained for the horse prior to its next race start.



RACE 2: CALOUNDRA RSL PLATE - 1000M.

Trainer Jo Moore was advised that ABBEY GREEN must barrier trial prior to its next race start after being fractious in the enclosure and dfiificult to load.

ABBEY GREEN and LEICA WINNER jumped away awkwardly.

FEEL LIKE A WOMAN was slow to begin.

Near the 600 metres GOLD 'N' LOVE improved to the inside of MIRACLE SOUND where there was insufficient room and made contact with the running rail.

Rounding the home turn MACKNUNI which was inclined to lay out, shifted out abruptly hampering LILY FILOU.
MACKNUNI then continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event.
Trainer Bruce McLachlan was advised a warning has been placed on MACKNUNI regarding its racing manners.
A post race Veterinary examination of MACKNUNI failed to reveal any abnormality.

FUNATIUS was forced to race wide throughout the event.


As apprentice M Rice was stood down by the Club Doctor following race 2 he was replaced as follows:
Race 5 PUNNETS LANE Z Purton
Race 7 MACMIKI D Ballard
Race 8 POWER AND DESIRE K Cunningham

RACE 3: HORSE OF THE YEAR 2002-2003 HANDICAP - 1400M.

WATERED DOWN, OUR VOLTAGE and VICTORY HIGHWAY were all slow to begin.

PREFERRED GUEST jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 1200 metres WATERED DOWN improved up on to the heels of BELLISSIMO MISS and had to be steadied.

RACE 4: ZAC PURTON HANDICAP - 1400M.

WOODSAW was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: KEN POPE HANDICAP - 1200M.

Acting on Veterinary advice ICENI was declared a late scratching at 1pm due to the mare being injured en route to the course.

As apprentice H O'Hara was stood down by the Club Doctor she was replaced on VEE ROD by apprentice M McDonald.

From the 600 metres until near the 200 metres SHERMAN OAKS was held up for clear running.
After passing the 200 metres SHERMAN OAKS secured a narrow run to the inside of MAIZY MAY and in doing so bumped the hind quarters of MAIZY MAY causing that horse to become unbalanced and shift in. As a result SHERMAN OAKS was tightened for room between PUNNETS LANE and MAIZY MAY and had to be checked.
DREAM TRAP which was following was also hampered as a result of this incident.

RACE 6: BRUCE MCLACHLAN HANDICAP - 1000M.

Soon after the start DOODA HUCKLEBUCK had to be steadied off the heels of DREAM 'N' SCHEME which shifted out.

On the home turn PLAY ME shifted in and bumped DREAM 'N' SCHEME which became unbalanced and made contact with the running rail. S Katsidis rider of PLAY ME was cautioned and advised he must allow sufficient racing room to runners on his inside.

RACE 7: JOHN O'BRIEN HANDICAP - 1200M.

RECORD TIME jumped away awkwardly.

NETAZI was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 8: XXXX HANDICAP - 1200M.

Acting on Veterinary advice LEADER OF THE PACK was declared a late scratching at 4.40pm.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on LEADER OF THE PACK were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 31c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 21c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.

Apprentice K Cunningham rider of POWER AND DESIRE was reprimanded for weighing out without irons.

JAROSLAV and HONEST NED were both tightened for room shoftly after the start between HALF CARAT and GEE GEE MACGREGOR both of which shifted ground.

Near the 600 metres HONEST NED had to be steadied after improving up on to the heels of MANU.

From the 600 metres until rounding the home turn MADIBA was held up for clear running.

All winners were sent to be swabbed.
