S.C.T.C. STEWARDS REPORT SUN. 28/12/03

PANEL: Mr C Clifford (Chairman), Mr G Ireland, Mr W Geggie, Mr C Waller.

WEATHER: Overcast
TRACK RATING: Heavy
Moveable rail out 4 metres for the entire circuit.

GENERAL: As M Rodd was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 1 TAISHO S Galloway
Race 3 SHEER VICTORY Z Purton
Race 4 HILLGROVE EXPRESS S Galloway
Race 5 RAMPANT LION B Stewart
Race 6 JANADI Z Purton
Race 7 SPLENDENT MISSILE Z Purton

As M Crawford was indisposed he was replaced on STAR MASTER (Race 6) by L Appo and on ALL CRAFTY (Race 7) by D Evans.

RACE 1: PACIFIC FORD HANDICAP - 1000M.

STAR CHARIOT which became cast in the barrier prior to the start was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed to start.

On jumping STAR CHARIOT shifted out abruptly and made contact with SWEEP CLEAR taking that filly wider on the track.
At the same stage STAR CHARIOT commenced to buck dislodging its rider D Griffin. Trainer L Ross was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.

FUNNY BOY jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly taking MR POSS, TAISHO and RESOUNDING VICTORY out on to ANGELITY which was hampered after being slow to begin.

RACE 2: COCA-COLA HANDICAP - 1400M.

The start was delayed when GEOFF'S RACER had to be re-plated.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by M Rice rider of 2nd placed GO GAZZA against EQUILIBRIUM ridden by S Galloway being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 100 metres.
After viewing the video and taking evidence from all parties concerned Stewards were of the opinion that the interference suffered by GO GAZZA was minimal and the protest was dismissed.

GEOFF'S RACER jumped away awkwardly and shifted in making contact with SCANDOLOSO.

SIOUXMAN had a tendency to over race during the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of TOBY LAROAN Z Purton stated that the gelding was obliged to race wide for the majority of the event. He further added that TOBY LAROAN travelled well until entering the straight however when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond. His comments were noted.

RACE 3: CALOUNDRA CITY COUNCIL HANDICAP - 1400M.

Due to transport difficulties D Miller was unable to fulfil his engagement on FOREVER SARAH and was replaced by D Griffin.

CHEVAL DE BONNET jumped away awkwardly. At the same time LA LA BABETTE shifted in making contact with CHEVAL DE BONNET resulting in that mare shifting in abruptly inconveniencing DAINTY SUSIE.

Passing the 1200 metres ELLEN LOVES ROSES had to be steadied off the heels of DONNA FIORI which shifted out slightly.

Approaching the home turn DAINTY SUSIE had to alter course to the outside from behind the tiring CHEVAL DE BONNET and made contact with DONNA FIORI.

RACE 4: YALUMBA WINES HANDICAP - 1000M.

LION PRINCESS jumped away awkwardly.

On jumping TASHARNA BOY made contact with the side partition.

LUAMMA had a tendency to shift ground under pressure in the straight.

RACE 5: XXXX HANDICAP - 1800M.

RAMPANT LION and FINDER PAGE made contact on jumping.

WOOMANOOKA SONG raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event.

RACE 6: CALOUNDRA RSL HANDICAP - 1000M.

As M Gray was to be overweight on POURQUOI he was replaced by D Gill. M Gray was subsequently fined the sum of $200.

ZOE'S LAD was slow to begin and shortly after the start was hampered by MT. GOWER which shifted in taking ZOE'S LAD in on to STORMY LODGE which had to be steadied off the heels of STAR MASTER.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of YALLAH STINGER apprentice D Ballard stated that due to the outside alley and the anticipated early speed of the race he elected to let YALLAH STINGER race at the rear of the field. He further stated that when placed under pressure at the 600 metres the gelding failed to respond to his riding and he could offer no excuses for today's performance. His comments were noted.

RACE 7: REED PROPERTY GROUP HANDICAP - 1000M.

Stewards acceded to a request by trainer T Cotsiopouios to withdraw ALL CRAFTY due to today's heavy track. ALL CRAFTY was declared a late scratching at 11.25am.

Due to a misunderstanding D Miller was advertised as the replacement rider for SPLENDENT MISSILE. Subsequently the mare was ridden by Z Purton.

SPLENDENT MISSILE was slow to begin.

Trainer P Wheatley was advised that BELLA FUSE which attempted to buck shortly after the start, must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.

RACE 8: QUEENSLAND PINE COMPANY 'FURNITURE IN THE RAW' HANDICAP - 1400M.

Acting on Veterinary advice TELWA was declared a late scratching at 4.07pm after the gelding was injured en route to the course.

JUST A HOOT and ALADDIN'S LAMP made contact on jumping.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ALADDIN'S LAMP jockey K Pope stated it was his intention to take a sit in the early stages however the colt raced ungenerously when being restrained.
He further added ALADDIN'S LAMP did settle shortly after however when placed under pressure at the entrance to the straight the colt failed to respond to his riding. His comments were noted.
A post race Veterinary examination of ALADDIN'S LAMP failed to reveal any abnormality.




All winners were sent to be swabbed.
