GENERAL: As A. Kennedy was indisposed, the following replacements were approved:

Race 2: SIRONA D. Nikolic
Race 4: ALTHALIA D. Nikolic
Race 5: MOON ECHO G. Colless

RACE 1: YALUMBA WINES H'CAP - 1300M

NIP OF SPIRIT was slow to begin.

Near the 850m TAX DODGE momentarily shifted in taking ORDER ARMS in on to RUE THE SAINT.

Near the 800m MITANNI momentarily shifted in tightening the running of DOOGALL'S LUCK.

Close to the finishing line DOOGALL'S LUCK had to be steadied when tightened for room between MITANNI, which shifted in slightly, and MESSIAEN, which shifted out. M. Rice, the rider of MESSIAEN, was cautioned and advised to straighten his mounts sooner than he had done on this occasion.

The whip of S. Katsidis, the rider of NEDIYM'S IMAGE, was accidentally knocked from his grasp by G. McKeon, the rider of MITANNI, close to the finishing line. In the incident, the whip accidentally struck the head of DOOGALL'S LUCK.


RACE 2: MANSELL BULK HAULAGE H'CAP - 1200M

JAMELDEN, which was restless in its stall, failed to jump with the field and lost considerable ground.

Near the 800m LATE FOR TEA shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Near the 100m RAUTAI'S WARRIOR was disappointed for a run between LATE FOR TEA and CARLINO which shifted out.

HOOFER was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

D. Nikolic reported that SIRONA was reluctant to stretch out in a normal manner in the straight. A veterinary examination revealed that the mare sustained an injury to the off hip and was noticable sore in that area.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CALL THE HUNTER, M. Rodd stated that whilst he was obliged to race three wide in the middle stages, CALL THE HUNTER was immediately under pressure shortly after entering the straight and he could offer no excuse for the performance. A veterinary examination of CALL THE HUNTER failed to reveal any abnormalities.


RACE 3: BLACKLAW CIVIL CONTRACTORS H'CAP - 1600M

LATINLOVER and NARWHAL were both tightened for room on jumping away between KENMONT and JUST A HOOT which jumped away awkwardly.

BLU SKY MINING was obliged to race wide in the the middle stages.

Approaching the 800m THE BANDIT, when being steadied, was inclined to race ungenerously.

Near the 700m JUST A HOOT was momentarily tightened for room beween NARWHAL and MRS. MORTY which shifted in.

Y. Yamazaki, the rider of BLU SKY MINING, accidentally dropped his whip near the 300m.

Jockey Z. Purton was reprimanded for his conduct on returning to the enclosure after riding EYE GEE AYE.

RACE 4: RAMADA PELICAN WATERS SUNSHINE COAST CLASSIC H'CAP - 1300M

UNBOUND was a late scratching at 10.50 a.m. on veterinary advice.

MARIE MADELEINE, which was lame in the near foreleg, was a late scratching at 12.55 p.m. on veterinary advice.

TOBYDON was slow to begin.

Near the 900m COPPER PENNY, after being briefly tightened for room by SEATTLE ZIP, shifted in abruptly taking ALTHALIA in on to TOBYDON.

Near the 600m ADMIRAL SPY shifted out to improve and made contact with HEAVENLY CRUISE on a number of occasions, forcing HEAVENLY CRUISE wider on the track.

Near the 100m ADMIRAL SPY shifted out under pressure and brushed SCREAMING HALO.

When questioned regarding the performance of LOVE AND MONEY, J. Stanley stated that the filly travelled well throughout the event but he was disappointed with its finishing effort. He added that the horse had pleased in its track work leading up to today's event, however he was now of the view that LOVE AND MONEY had come to the end of its preparation and may be looking for a spell. Trainer M. Eggleston agreed that LOVE AND MONEY may have had enough this preparation and he would immediately spell the filly. A veterinary examination of LOVE AND MONEY failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 5: XXXX SUNSHINE COAST GUINEAS - 1600M

ARIANNE GAL was withdrawn under AR. 50.

MAIZCAY MISS blundered on jumping away.

Approaching the 1400m when steadying off the heels of AU CHOCOLAT, ENDOWMENT shifted in tightening the running of KING CARTIER, KING LATARMISS and DOUBLE DECKER.

ACTIVE COMBAT pulled hard in the early stages.

Approaching the 200m SPARTIATE was disappointed for a run between ENDOWMENT and KING CARTIER.

Passing the 200m KING CARTIER shifted out and made contact with SAHARA JAY.

RACE 6: REED PROPERTY GROUP GLASSHOUSE H'CAP - 1400M

Trainer S. B. Laming was fined $200 for failing to notify a gear change for FACE VALUE by the prescribed time.

On return to scale, a protest was lodged by S. Scriven, the rider of 5th placegetter CONSULAR, against SPORTSMAN (B. Stewart) being declared 2nd, alleging interference at the 800m. After taking evidence from both riders and J. Stanley, the rider of HOODED GEM, the protest was dismissed. It was established at that point that approaching the 800m J. Taylor, the rider of POMP AND GLORY, shifted in momentarily, tightening BRITT'S BEST, HOODED GEM, SPORTSMAN and CONSULAR. J. Taylor was cautioned and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

SANDY RIVER shifted in on jumping away, taking SEDECREM in on to AMEX.

In the early stages of the straight SPORTSMAN was held up for clear running.

At the 700m CONSULAR and PALLADIUM STAR raced in restricted room to the inside of PROUDLY AGRO which was taken in slightly by SANDY RIVER.

PROUDLY AGRO was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and then disappointed for a run between CONSULAR and NESSUNO near the 200m.

SEDECREM was also held up for clear running from the the 400m until the 300m.

RACE 7: MEGALEC ELECTRICAL CALOUNDRA CITY CUP - 2400M

Trainer W. Walters' explanation for presenting PAGANO to the enclosure without blinkers was accepted.

Stable representative Mr D. Flye, representing trainer P. Harris, was questioned as to why he presented BRANSON to race with nasal strips and without a nose roll. Mr Flye indicated that he had been instructed by Mr Harris to effect the change on race day. As Mr Harris had not notified the Trainer Service Centre of the gear change, nor had he approval to use nasal strips, he was fined the sum of $500.

LORD ERIN, PACIFIC DANCER and BRANSON were slow to begin.

Making the first turn ENABLER shifted out and inconvenienced SUNDAY SERVICE.

ACETATE was obliged to race wide in the early stages.

Near the 700m LORD ERIN shifted out from behind the heels of DIAMOND HILL, making contact with I'M FIGHTIN.

RACE 8: XXXX H'CAP - 1400M

SUMMER FABLE was a late scratching at 7.35 a.m. on veterinary advice.

SHA ALMA refused to jump with the field. Trainer R. Maund advised that SHA ALMA would be retired from racing.

AQUATIC DRIVE shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with MILADY MATTY which in turn made contact with PROPHET JEWEL.

In the middle stages SHEER DEVOTION was obliged to race wide.


All winners were sent to be swabbed.
