ANCIENT KING and BLU SPY brushed near the 1200m..

JUST A FREAK jumped inwards at the start, brushing MY MAREMOSSO.

JUST A FREAK raced wide making the home turn, covering extra ground, and was inclined to lay in in the straight, forcing jockey K. Yoshida to stop riding and straighten his mount near the 100m. and again at the 50m..

From its wide barrier, EUREKA MATILDA was forced to cover extra ground for the major part of the event.

Trainer T. Thomas was questioned over the apparent improved performance of BLU SPY as opposed to its previous start at Ipswich on 26 August 2004 when it ran last of 11 in a 1350m. maiden. Mr Thomas stated that the mare jumped well at Ipswich, had the run of the race, and there had been stable support for BLU SPY on that occasion. Jockey G. Farrer reported to Mr Thomas that he has ridden the horse twice, and although travelling well coming to the turn, does not give anything under his his riding. Mr Thomas felt that there was a drop in class today as opposed to the Ipswich field. Mr Thomas's explanation was noted, and stewards will review the film and betting sheets of the Ipwich meeting.

RACE 2: KEN HICKS & ASSOCIATES QTIS 3-Y-0 MAIDEN H'CAP - 1300M.

M. McDonald was examined by the club's doctor after riding in race 1 and stood down from his engagement on KALINGA TATE in this event and on PITCH BLACK in race 7. J. Hoopert was substituted as the rider of KALINGA TATE and PITCH BLACK.

An objection was lodged by J. Hoopert, rider of the 3rd placegetter, KALINGA TATE, against 2nd placegetter, GRAND MEMORIES, ridden by M. Rice, alleging interference from the home turn to the winning post. It was established that near the 250m., GRAND MEMORIES shifted out, brushing KALINGA TATE, however J. Hoopert was not disadvantaged in riding his mount out to the line. On the evidence presented by the parties concerned, and from the stewards' own observations after viewing the the patrol films, the objection was dismissed.

I KNEW IT jumped outwards at the start, brushing MILL CREEK in on to MINLANI, which bumped the hind quarters of OUR JANGLES.

PEPE LE PEU jumped inwards at the start, bumping KALINGA TATE.

OUR JANGLES pulled hard in the early stages of the race, and near the 900m., shifted out, slightly tightening KALINGA TATE on to I KNEW IT, which eased, losing ground.

LANA BELLE was not shown in the race book as carrying blinkers when the mare in fact carries that gear. An announement was made over the public address system regarding this matter.

MONEY WALKS jumped awkwardly, unbalancing apprentice R. McMahon.

At the start, INTER THE FREY jumped inwards and bumped CHAIRMAN MEOW.

An inquiry was opened into interference between the 1100m. and 950m.. It was established that HONEST NED (R. Mason) allowed her mount to move in, tightening ABSTRACTED on to CARRY ON ACE, causing JO BRO to be checked and lose ground, and in turn bumping the hind quarters of INTER THE FRAY, which became unbalanced. Ms R. Mason subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) and was suspended from riding in races from midnight, 5 September, until midnight, 18 September 2004.
