SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
As S. Apthorpe was ill, riding replacements were made as per the stewards’ summary sheet.
Race 1: McDonald’s Sunshine Coast Maiden H’cap - 1400m
1st - Riseupsinging 2nd - Rojah Reign 3rd - Miss Darbonnaire 4th - Marnier/Woodsmoke
GAME (G. Farrer) and MISS IJARBONNAIRE (M. Palmer) were slow to begin.
JOSHUA EXPRESS (C. Kearney) jumped away awkwardly, losing considerable ground. Trainer K. Shelton was advised that the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
After passing the ilOOm., WOODSMOKE (B. Calkin) commenced to overrace at the heels of MISS DARBONNAIRE, and near the bOOm., ROCK CHICK S. Galloway) had to be steadied off the heels of W000SMOKE.
Rounding the 800m. turn, GOLD SARINA (M. Usher) shifted out and had to be checked off the heels of ROCK CHICK.
MISS DARBONNAIRE (M. Palmer) and MARNIER (M. Cahill) were forced to race wide throughout.
Race 2: Big Kart Track Adrenalin 3yo & Up Maiden Plate - bO
1st - Deputy Deal 2nd - Santi 3rd - Mazatan 4th - Goldisa
OUR GALAXY BABE (A. Kennedy) and COUNT COUNTY (K. (Cunningham) were slow to begin.
LION’S REIGN (R. Goltz) jumped awkwardly.
On jumping away, MIQUELT (R. Plumb) shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of TREKHO (N. Thomas). A short distance later, MIQUELT and OBVIOUSLY NORTH (M. Radecker) were placed in restricted room between PRIM000RO (A. Pattillo), which shifted in slightly, and TREKHO, which shifted out after receiving a bump.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of PRIM000RO (A. Pattillo) stated he was unable to explain the poor performance today. A post-race veterinary examination of PRIMODORO failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 3: Quad Park 2yo Miaden H’cap - 1200m
1st - Overlord 2nd - Top Gun Lane 3rd - Make A Buck 4th - Our Montague
ROCKATTHECROC (B. Stewart) was slow to begin.
OUR MONTAGUE (M. Cahill) and LAUGHING POINT (T. Treichel) came together on jumping away.
ECHO GUN (N. Jolly) jumped awkwardly.
TOP GUN LANE (B. Hull) and SHESHEDA (G. Palmer) were tightened on jumping away between MAKE A BUCK (C. Eaton), which shifted out, and CATBIRD SEAT (C. Whiteley), which jumped inwards.
Near the 800m. turn, OUR MONTAGUE hung out, taking OVERLORD (S. Seamer) wider on the track.
After passing the 800m., OUR MONTAGUE shifted in of its own accord and made heavy contact with the running rail and as a result became unbalanced. ECHO GUN (N. Jolly), which was following, also made contact with the running rail.
ECHO GUN again shifted in near the 60Dm. and made contact with the running rail.
CATBIRD SEAT (C. Whiteley) raced greenly over the concluding stages.
LAUGHING POINT (T. Treichel) lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 4: Cadet Training & Employment 2yo H’cap - 1200m
1st - Reelin And Rocking 2nd - Just Ordained 3rd - Strikemeroan 4th - Momfasa
CRACKLE DASH (C. McKeon) shifted out at the start, making contact with DON’T PAYTHE RANSOM (B. El-Issa).
Shortly after the start, DRAGUNOV (N. Jolly) was tightened for room between BENSON (D. Nikolic) and NOBLE QUEST (K. Pope), both of which shifted ground.
Near the 110Dm., VISTA LADY (S. Galloway) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MOMFASA (B. Stewart), which shifted in.
Passing the 900m., HEY LORENZO (A. Kennedy) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BENSON (D. Nikolic), which shifted in.
Approaching the 80Dm., BENSON was inclined to overrace at the heels of VISTA LADY.
Near the 45Dm., VISTA LADY had to be steadied off the heels of DONT FAYTHE RANSOM and shifted in, inconveniencing BENSON.
At the 400m., BENSON shifted out and made contact with VISTA LADY. Near the 35Dm., VISTA LADY shifted out and made contact with REF’S CALL (G. Palmer).
Near the 300m., VISTA LADY (S. Galloway) was placed in restricted room to the inside of REF’S CALL (G. Palmer) by DON’T PAYTHE RANSOM, which shifted out. A short distance later, VISTA LADY had to be checked when further tightened for room by DONT PAYTHE RANSOM, which was taken out by BENSON, which was inclined to lay out. Both B. El-Issa, rider of DONT PAYTHE RANSOM, and D. Nikolic, rider of BENSON, were severely reprimanded and advised to make greater efforts to keep their mounts straight in similar circumstances.
Near the 20Dm., BENSON shifted out abruptly.
C. Schumacher, rider of REELIN AND ROCKING, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 10Dm. he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of PUBHORSE (C. Farrer), resulting in PUBHORSE having to be checked and in turn shifting out, resulting in MOMFASA (B. Stewart) having to be checked. CRACKLE DASH, which was following, had to be steadied. C. Schumacher was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight 1 June, and to expire at midnight, 12 June 2004.
Race 5: Boxadedia.com F&M Class I H’cap - I200m
1st -Vacinta Rose 2nd - Oriental Peace 3rd - Ash Friday 4th - Gold Gold Gold
BERTHA (M. Smith-Lester) was slow to begin.
Near the 80Gm., WESTERN SPARKLE (M. Cahill) was placed in restricted room to the inside of AMUSED (B. El-Issa), which was inclined to lay in and away from ORIENTAL PEACE (G. Palmer).
Rounding the 80Gm. turn, DULACCA DIVA (R. Goltz) shifted out slightly and had to be steadied off the heels of ORIENTAL PEACE.
Near the 15Gm., AMUSED (B. El-Issa) was impeded fora run between CANADIAN KATE (D. Nikolic) and COMMANDDSA BLUE (T. Treichel)
JIG TIME LADY (B. Stewart) was inclined to lay in throughout the event.
CANADIAN KATE (D. Nikolic) and SANDY’S REWARD (M. Morris) was forced to race wide throughout.
DULACCA DIVA lost its near fore plate in running.
Race 6: Ramada Pelican Waters C&G Class I H’cap - 120Gm
1st - Esemes 2nd - Rum Dum 3rd -The Cavern 4th - Dime
RUM DUM jumped in the air at the start, losing ground.
SKYROLLER (M. Cahill) jumped inwards at the start, taking ADAVALE HORNET (C.
Bumstead) in on to HALLUCE’S DEVOTION (B. Hull), which shifted in, tightening
THE CAVERN CLUB (R. Plumb) in on to DIME (S. Galloway), which had to be
checked off the heels of CHARLIE GUN (N. Jolly).
A short distance later, HALLUCE’S DEVOTION had to be checked to avoid the heels of ADAVALE HORNET, which shifted in.
Near the 85Gm., THE CAVERN CLUB (R. Plumb), which was racing ungenerously, had to be steadied off the heels of STAR OF MAC (G. Farrer).
Near the 800m., HALLUCE’S DEVOTION (B. Hull) run up on to the heels of CHARLIE GUN (N. Jolly) and had to be checked.
Approaching the 60Gm., DIME (S. Galloway) shifted in of its own accord and made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.
FIRST ECLIPSE (A. Fattillo) was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
Near the 20Gm., after being momentarily held up for clear running, DIME shifted in and made contact with KATASTROPHIC (D. Nikolic).
Race 7: Telstra Country Wide Classic Class 4 H’cap - 1600m
1st - Very Canny 2nd - That’s My Mum 3rd - Alfee danger 4th - Go Gazza
Jockey D. Nikolic was fined $100 for accepting dual engagements on CRAIGLEA
WARRIOR and POSITIVE IMPACT. R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of
POSITIVE IMPACT.
A. Kennedy was examined by the club’s doctor after riding in race 4 and stood down from his engagement on MERTHYR ROAD. C. McKeon was substituted as the rider of MERTHYR ROAD.
VULCAN EXPRESS (K. Pope) jumped away awkwardly and a short distance later was tightened for room between GO GAZZA (M. Morris) and PALACE JEST (B. El Issa), which shifted in.
Passing the 130Dm., PALACE JEST, when being restrained, threw its head in the air. CRAIGLEA WARRIOR (D. Nikolic) and PALACE JEST (B. El-Issa) both overraced in the middle stages.
Near the 90Dm, CRAIGLEA WARRIOR (D. Nikolic) had to be steadied off the heels of THAT’S MY MUM (T. Treichel). PALACE JEST, which was following, also had to be steadied.
GO GAZZA (M. Morris) was forced to race wide throughout.
Race 8: Hot9l.1 & Sunshine Coast Daily Oaks F&M Class 6 H’cap - 120Gm
let - Countess Bathory 2nd - Kas Nediym 3rd - Ally Bee 4th - Tycoon Rose
Trainer L. Richardson was fined $100 for declaring N. Day as rider for HOOFA without first confirming the engagement. C. Eaton was substituted as the rider of
HOOFA.
Trainer K. Pattillo was fined $100 for failing to declare M. Cahill as the rider for CRYSTAL LANE by the prescribed time.
HOOFER (C. Eaton) and LION QUEEN (D. Nikolic) were slow to begin.
COUNTESS BATHORY (M. Palmer) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with SEA ARTIST (N. Day).
CRAIGLEA QUEEN (R. Mason) jumped in the air at the start.
Near the 90Gm., HOOFER (C. Eaton) was placed in restricted room to the inside of
COUNTESS BATHORY (M. Palmer), which was inclined to lay in and away from
SEA ARTIST (N. Day). COUNTESS BATHORY was then inclined to lay in for some
distance thereafter.
DISCORD (K. Pope) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Near the 70Dm., QUINTEX (A. Pattillo) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by FAIRWEATHER (C. Small), which shifted in.
LION QUEEN had to be steadied rounding the home turn to avoid the heels of ALLY BEE (B. El-Issa).
CRYSTAL LANE (M. Cahil) raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of LION QUEEN, D. Nikolic was of the opinion that the mare was suffering from a seasonal complaint. A post-race veterinary examination of LION QUEEN failed to reveal any abnormality.
Race 9: Schultz Toomey O’Brien Class 2 H’cap - bOOm
1st - Bitabiff 2nd - Equal 3rd - Yukon Pride 4th - Cash Mistress
Trainer P. Bell was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for BELLE CUISINE by the prescribed time.
VOLCANIC ANGEL (M. Morris) jumped in the air at the start.
SILVER HOPE (L. Deguara), DAWN’S MISS (T. Treichel) and FRISCO’S ROSE (M.
Palmer) were severely tightened for room on jumping away between APRIL SUN (G.
Palmer) and YUKON PRIDE (A. Pattillo), whcih shifted out.
DIAMOND BULLET (C. Whiteley), which was slow to begin, had to be checked a short distance later to avoid the heels of LAGERETTE (B. El-Issa), which shifted out after receiving a bump from RAINBOW JOY (A. Russo).
Approaching the 600m., VOLCANIC ANGEL overraced at the heels of SILVER
HOPE (L. Deguara) and had to be steadied and shifted out, making contact wtih
DAWN’S MISS (1. Treichel).
REGINA’S BEST (B. Stewart) was held up for clear running after passing the 40Dm..
Near the 15Dm., APRIL SUN (G. Palmer) had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room between RAINBOW JOY (A. Russo) and SHOCK TROOPER (N. Seymour), which shifted in. N. Seymour, rider of SHOCK TROOPER, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
A post-race veterinary examination of DAWN’S MISS failed to reveal any abnormality.
