SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Stewards were notified that G. Farrer and T. Treichel were ill, M. Raedecker was injured and M. Spriggs and B. Stewart were indisposed. Riding changes were then made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Stewards intend to interview B. Stewart regarding his unavailability to ride at today's meeting.
Race 1: Sommer's Fuel Supplies Maiden H'cap - 1600m.
1st - Boxing Day 2nd - Taming The Shrew 3rd - Overtothree 4th - Tribal Mask
SVENSON (C. Eaton) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with OVERTOTHREE (C. Spry).
Approaching the 1200m., TRIBAL MASK (A. Merritt) commenced to overrace and raced awkwardly for a short distance.
SWIFT MOVER (K. Pope) commenced to overrace leaving the 1200m. and was obliged to race wide in the middle stages.
OVERTOTHREE raced wide rounding the home turn, then commenced to lay in over the concluding stages.
SVENSON was caught wide in the middle stages.
B. El-Issa, rider of LATIN IDOL, accidentally dropped his whip near the 350m., placing him at a disadvantage.
Over the final 100m., LATIN IDOL was taken out by TRIBAL MASK and made contact with SVENSON.
Following the event the club's veterinary surgeon reported that SWIFT MOVER had pulled up in an extremely distressed condition with a heart irregularity. Trainer C. Richardson was advised that he would have to provide a veterinary clearance for SWIFT MOVER, including the results of an ECG, prior to the horse's next race start.
Race 2: Reed Property Group QTIS 3yo Miden Plate - 1000m.
1st - Watapen 2nd - Super Suspicious 3rd - Winston 4th - Chenka
CHINOIS DREAMING was a late scratching at 8.15 a.m.. Stewards intend to interview trainer S. Watters regarding this matter.
LADY OLLIE (K. Cunningham), which was slowly away, was hampered by WINSTON (K. Pope), which jumped inwards.
Shortly after the start, PEPPERMINT BAY (A. Merritt) commenced to lay in, taking GO ROCK AND ROBIN (T. Pannell) in on to MONZIP (B. Pengally), which had to be eased. PEPPERMINT BAY then continued to race ungenerously for some distance afterwards.
Approaching the 600m., GO ROCK AND ROBIN, which was racing greenly, had to be eased from the heels of WINSTON (K. Pope).
JARRAH 'N' BILL (J. Taylor) became awkward on heels rounding the home turn and had to be steadied for a few strides.
Approaching the 200m., LADY OLLIE shifted out and brushed GEE TEE OH
(B. El-Issa).
DAWN'S PRIDE (M. Morris) raced greenly over the final stages.
Race 3: Bundilla Dry Cleaners Class 1 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Sunny Paradise 2nd - Obliviator 3rd - Kalinga County 4th - See The Change
KALINGA COUNTY (G. McKeon) jumped away awkwardly.
Approaching the 600m., OBLIVIATOR (C. Spry) shifted out, making contact with KALINGA COUNTY (G. McKeon).
Leaving the 400m., OBLIVIATOR was held up for clear running for a short distance.
Leaving the 250m., KALINGA COUNTY (G. McKeon) rolled out and brushed SEE THE CHANGE (M. Palmer), taking that gelding wider on the track.
Race 4: Kawana Coast Reality Open H'cap - 1200m.
1st - Omnitrader 2nd - Uncle Shamos 3rd - Huddle 4th - Canadian Bunny
HUDDLE (T. Pannell) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with TELBON LOTTO (S. Drake).
AMAIZCAY (M. Usher) began awkwardly and shortly after made contact with the hind quarters of TELBON LOTTO (S. Drake).
LADY BREAKFAST (N. Thomas) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with CANADIAN BUNNY (B. El-Issa), which in turn shifted out and made contact with JUST AWE (R. Mason).
Race 5: Hudson Building Supplies Class 1 H'cap - 1000m.
1st - Iron Bridge 2nd - Miss Amazon 3rd - Positive Direction 4th - Giritale
PANAMA JACK (A. Erhart) and SHY HUNTER (B. El-Issa) made contact at the start.
GIRITALE (L. Deguara) was slow to begin.
Passing the 800m., GIRITALE laid in, making contact with MISS HAVERSHAM (M. Palmer).
Approaching the 200m., IRON BRIDGE (R. Plumb) shifted in and made contact with PANAMA JACK.
Race 6: Schultz Toomey O'Brien Lawyers Class 1 H'cap - 1400m.
1st - Mary's Me Mum 2nd - Chevron Island 3rd - Whydinya 4th - Drilotto
CELESTIAL ROAD (G. McKeon) jumped outwards at the start, making contact with YOU'LL DO ME (M. Palmer).
MARY'S ME MUM (K. Cunningham) shifted outwards on jumping away and made contact with BLOOMIN PERFECT (M. Usher).
CRYSTAL JOE was tightened for room at the start between CHEVRON ISLAND (J. Taylor), which jumped outwards, and CROWN PRINCE (B. Thomson).
Approaching the 1000m., WHYDINYA (A. Merritt) improved up on to the heels of CELESTIAL ROAD and had to be steadied.
In the middle stages, TAEPO (S. Drake), which raced wide throughout, shifted in, making contact with CELESTIAL ROAD on several occasions.
Near the 300m., BLOOMIN PERFECT rolled out, taking WHYDINYA out on to REACTIVE DANCER (B. El-Issa).
Over the final stages, CHEVRON ISLAND (J. Taylor) shifted out abruptly to improve.
Race 7: Coastal Equipment Sales Class 3 Plate - 2200m.
1st - Lord Rupert 2nd - Alaana's Song 3rd - Moon Echo 4th - Little Legend
After the running of this event, it was found that 2nd placegetter, ALAANA's SONG, which had struck its head on the barriers prior to jumping away, returned to the enclosure with a damaged near-side pacifier. A subsequent veterinary examination of ALAANA'S SONG revealed no damage to the horse's vision.
A short distance after the start, ALAANA'S SONG (R. Plumb) had to be steadied from the heels of BECCA'S BELLE (A. Merritt), which shifted out.
Rounding the first turn, MOON ECHO (P. Hammersley) and CANIONA (T. Unwin) were obliged to race wide. MOON ECHO continued to race wide until rounding the 800m. turn.
Approaching the 1600m., UNITED (B. Pengally) had to be steadied from the heels of DETONATES (N. Tomizawa).
Nearing the 800m., ALAANA'S SONG had to be steadied from the heels of LORD RUPERT (L. Wray), which rolled in momentarily.
Approaching the 500m., ABLE KING (C. Kearney) had to be steadied off the heels of UNITED, which shifted in slightly. As a result, LORD RUPERT, which was following, also had to be steadied.
Over the concluding stages, ALAANA'S SONG was inclined to lay in.
A swab sample was taken from the 2nd placegetter, ALAANA'S SONG.
Race 8: Pacific Motor Group Pty Ltd Maiden 3yo & Up Plate - 1200m.
1st - Agnostic 2nd - Hans Christian 3rd - Hotshot Hayil 4th - Silversmith
Following race 4, trainer T. Miller made a request to stewards that his apprentice M. Morris be released from his commitment to ride HELEN'S RUBY on the grounds of extenuating personal circumstances. Stewards agreed with Mr Miller's request and subsequently R. Mason was declared as the rider of HELEN'S RUBY.
KASHMIR SKY (M. Usher) jumped in the air at the start, losing ground.
SONIC BANG (P. Hammersley) and COAT TAILS (B. El-Issa) brushed at the start.
HELEN'S RUBY (R. Mason) was hampered at the start between HOTSHOT HAYIL (K. Pope), which jumped inwards, and SMUT (R. McMahon).
Approaching the 1000m., BLACK MALOO (T. Pannell) had to be eased when SILVERSMITH (B. Appo) shifted in.
Nearing the 900m., SILVERSMITH (B. Appo) shifted in, resulting in BLACK MALOO (T. Pannell) having to be eased.
B. Appo, rider of SILVERSMITH, reported that his saddle slipped approaching the 900m., placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Approaching the winning post, COAT TAILS (B. El-Issa) was tightened for room and had to be steadied between AEROTIC (J. Stanley), which shifted out, and SONIC BANG (P. Hammersley), which stepped in.
