On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Peisley, rider of the 4th placegetter, KAADEEMA, against DARFUR being declared the winner, alleging interference in the straight. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the film, stewards found that after passing the 250m, KAADEMA improved up on to the heels of DARFUR and had to be steadied and shifted out, and near the 50m when attempting doubtful run between DARFUR and LADY MONASHEE.
