Race 1: Greg Hunt OH&S Consultancy NMW H’cap – 1600m
1st – Bikkie Tin Blues 2nd – Skyleda 3rd – Soul Diva/Poppy Power
WHEEL THE LEAD (R. Mason) blundered on jumping away.
Shortly after the start, WHEEL THE LEAD and RUM DUM (A. Pattillo) were placed in restricted room between PHOENIX EXPRESS (S. Katsidis) and THE SILENCE SIR (M. Payne), which shifted out.
K. Pope, rider of IN EXTREMIS pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1400m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SOUL DIVA (J. Byrne), which was taken in and tightened the running of THE SILENCE SIR (M. Payne), resulting in THE SILENCE SIR losing its rightful position. K. Pope was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 2 July, and to expire at midnight, 15 July 2006.
Passing the 400m, BIKKIE TIN BLUES (B. Pengelly) shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with SIR COUP (M. Cahill).
PHOENIX EXPRESS (S. Katsidis) was momentarily held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.
S. Galloway, rider of SKYLEDA, accidentally dropped his whip near the 150m.
IN EXTREMIS (K. Pope), BARITONE (G. Farrer) and STIPEND (M. Palmer) were forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the performance of NATURAL GLAMOUR, jockey M. Rodd stated that the mare was a little reluctant to race early and only travelled fairly in the middle stages and ran on only moderately when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. The explanation was noted.
A post race veterinary examination of THE SILENCE SIR failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 2: Yalumba Wines Class 6 H’cap – 1400m
1st – Chasin’ Tail 2nd – Aerosol 3rd – Monte Cavallo 4th – Come In Spanner
MR FAHRENHEIT (M. Carson), which broke through the barriers and was quickly recaptured, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
BIT OF MAGIC (J. Bowditch) was slow to begin.
REGIMENTAL (K. Pope), which was a little slow to begin, had to be steadied a short distance later to avoid the heels of MR FAHRENHEIT, which shifted out.
Close to the finish line, REGIMENTAL (K. Pope) had to be eased off the heels of MONTE CAVALLO.
BACKSTAGE GIRL (M. Payne) and MONTE CAVALLO (S. Seamer) were forced to race wide throughout.
MONTERRICO lost its near fore plate in running.
Trainer J. McCarter reported that MONTERRICO returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit.
Race 3: XXXX F&M H’cap – 1400m
1st – Lillabiddy 2nd – Tycoon Rose 3rd – Ally Bee 4th – Anca
LA DANSKE (M. Rodd) was slow to begin.
BANABOLDA (S. Seamer) and SUUBIRD (G. Colless) came together on jumping away.
Near the 1300m, SUUBIRD (G. Colless) had to be steadied when tightened for room between LILLABIDDY (J. Byrne) and BANABOLDA (S. Seamer), which was taken out by AAREEBA AREEBA (J. Bowditch).
Near the 450m, LA DANSKE (M. Rodd), which was endeavouring to improve to the outside of the heels of DORIN DONNA (S. Katsidis), clipped the heels of that mare and lost ground.
Approaching the 100m, OUR JANGLES (M. Morris) was momentarily impeded for a run between BANABOLDA and DORIN DONNA (S. Katsidis).
DANA’S KINGDOM (K. Pope) raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Ramada Pelican Waters Sunshine Coast Classic QTIS 2yo H’cap – 1300m
1st – Simplex 2nd – Nellie Got There 3rd – Donald Victor 4th – Moglich
DE CASTELLA (B. Swanton), which was a little slow to begin, was tightened for room between MASERARDI (D. Moor) and NELLIE GOT THERE (S. Katsidis), which shifted in.
MOGLICH (S. Seamer) jumped inwards at the start, taking BE GOOD JOHNNY (A. Pattillo) in on to STAR JANGLE (J. Taylor).
Near the 1200m, DONALD VICTOR (J. Byrne) had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of SIMPLEX (D. Peisley), which shifted in.
DE CASTELLA (B. Swanton) was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.
Passing the 600m, STAR JANGLE (J. Taylor) commenced to hang out and did so for the remainder of the event. Trainer T. Miller was advised that STAR JANGLE must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
SWEET AS (J. Bowditch) was held up in the early stages of the straight and had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of DONALD VICTOR.
Passing the 300m, DE CASTELLA, which was weakening, had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of RATINGS WINNER (M. Palmer).
Approaching the 150m, NELLIE GOT THERE (S. Katsidis) shifted out abruptly. NELLIE GOT THERE then raced ungenerously over the concluding stages.
MOGLICH (S. Seamer), NELLIE GOT THERE, SO STEP IN LINE (B. Pengelly) and ZIPPER CLUB (K. Pope) were all forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of SIMPLEX revealed the colt to be lame in the near foreleg.
DONALD VICTOR lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 5: XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas 3yo QTIS – 1600m
1st – Diamondsondinside 2nd – Fulmonti 3rd – Newgrange 4th – Prend
MOLLY’S FOLLY (D. Moor) was slow to begin.
GOTCHA COVERED (J. Taylor) and DAVION (J. Bowditch) came together on jumping away.
Approaching the 1300m, HAPPY GIGGLESON (M. Palmer), which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of NABIRAZ (M. Carson).
Passing the 400m, INDOMATO (M. Cahill) shifted out and bumped ONE FOR NONE (L. Hofmann).
Near the 350m, TELETRADER (J. Byrne) had to be momentarily steadied when disappointed for a run between NABIRAZ (M. Carson) and DENMARKET (B. Pengelly), which was taken out slightly by SPRINTCAR (G. Colless).
Approaching the 200m, ONE FOR NONE was buffeted between INDOMATO (M. Cahill), which shifted out slightly, and DAVION (J. Bowditch), which shifted in slightly.
Close to the finish line, TELETRADER (J. Byrne) ran up on to the heels of FOURWINNERS (S. Galloway) and had to be steadied.
PREND (D. Peisley), ETERNAL FORTUNE (K. Pope) and ONE FOR NONE (L. Hofmann) raced wide throughout.
Race 6: Reed Property Group Glasshouse H’cap – 1400m
1st – Unaprince 2nd – Consular 3rd – Mitanni 4th –Donnan Dancer
TOP MARC (K. Pope) jumped inwards at the start, making contact with BIRTHDAY BASH (R. Mason).
READYFORCATHERINE (S. Seamer) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with TANTAT SECRET (D. Moor).
M. Rodd, rider of LA SIZERANNE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1300m he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TROPICAL EXPRESS (A. Pattillo), which was taken in, tightening TOP MARC (K. Pope) on to the hind quarters of CEFFYL, and as a result TOP MARC had to be steadied and TROPICAL EXPRESS checked. M. Rodd was suspended from riding in races for period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 1 July, and to expire at midnight, 13 July 2006.
Near the 400m, CONSULAR (S. Scriven) shifted out to obtain clear running to the outside of PICADAY (S. Katsidis) and in doing so made contact with KING REX (M. Cahill) on several occasions.
Near the 150m, TANTAT SECRET (D. Moor) raced at the heels of PICADAY and was obliged to alter course to obtain clear running.
CEFFYL (L. Cassidy) was forced to race wide throughout.
L. Cassidy, rider of CEFFYL, reported that the gelding was inclined to lay out for the entire event.
A post race veterinary examination of READYFORCATHERINE failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 7: Kawana Bowls N’ Recreation Caloundra City Cup – 2400m
1st – Empyreal 2nd – Sphenophyta 3rd – Cold Start 4th –
SPHENOPHYTA (J. Byrne) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with EMPYREAL (C. Johnson).
Shortly after the start, HANALEI BAY (K. Pope) had to be steadied when tightened for room between COLD START (R. Mason) and EMPYREAL (C. Johnson).
Near the 2300m, EMPYREAL had to be momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of SPHENOPHYTA.
PENTATHON (J. Taylor) was forced to race wide in the early stages.
Approaching the 800m, RICHTER PASS broke down, dislodging its rider, L. Hofmann. DERRINGER (D. Moor), HANALEI BAY (K. Pope), DON’T TELL CLANG (S. Galloway), FAMOUS DANE (Y. Fujimoto), LESTER THUNDERWING (A. Pattillo), JYMCAREW (M. Rodd) and KAMSKY (M. Payne), which were following, were all hampered to varying degrees. RING OF FIRE (S. Katsidis) was also hampered in this incident and as a result S. Katsidis was dislodged. A subsequent veterinary examination of RICHTER PASS revealed the mare had broke its near-side shoulder and the horse was euthanased on humane grounds. RING OF FIRE was found to be sore in the off hindleg.
HANALEI BAY (K. Pope) and FAMOUS DANE (Y. Fujimoto) was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.
Race 8: Summerveld Racing Stables 1mw H’cap – 1200m
1st – Testify 2nd – Stood Up 3rd – Taabinga Lass 4th – Deputy Deal
TAABINGA LASS (M. Morris) jumped outwards at the start and made contact with TEARINUPTHECOUNTRY (A. Pattillo).
A post race veterinary examination of LASTING LUCK failed to reveal any abnormalities.
