Suplementary Report
From Esk Jockey Club, 17.3.07
Stewards fined A. Nichols $100 under AR120(b) for accepting rides in which he was found to be overweight.
Race 1: Peregian Springs Golf Club Maiden Plate - 1400m
1st – Our Mr Stilts 2nd – Sinchelle 3rd – Weight’s Right 4th - Menotti
On return to scale a protest was lodged by S. Drake, rider of the 3rd placegetter, WEIGHT’S RIGHT, against OUR MR STILTS (M. Hughes) being declared the winner, alleging interference leaving the 300m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the patrol video, stewards found that leaving the 300m, OUR MR STILTS (M. Hughes) improved to the inside of EVERY WHICH WAY (D. Peisley) where there was sufficient room to do so, however a short distance later EVERY WHICH WAY shifted in, taking OUR MR STILTS in on to WEIGHT’S RIGHT, which had to be checked. As the interference suffered by WEIGHT’S RIGHT could not be directly attributed to OUR MR STILTS, the protest was dismissed and the Judge’s placings confirmed. At subsequent inquiry, D. Peisley, rider of EVERY WHICH WAY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 250m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of OUR MR STILTS, resulting in that horse being taken in on to WEIGHT’S RIGHT, which had to be checked. D. Peisley was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 21 March and to expire at midnight, 30 March 2007.
M. Rice, rider of MENOTTI, was fined $100 for returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram overweight in race 1.

BANJO (J. Taylor) and MAXIMISS (S. Drake) were held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

Apprentice S. Drake was questioned in relation to her riding of MAXIMISS in the home straight and in particular her decision to switch to the inside upon straightening. S. Drake stated that she had considered moving her horse wider on the track rounding the home turn, however upon straightening a run opened between PEGASUS PRIDE (K. Forrester) and JETSMART (A. Nichols) forward of her. However, shortly after straightening PEGASUS PRIDE shifted out to obtain clear running, resulting in MAXIMISS having to be steadied and shift to the inside of that horse. S. Near the 1300m, LUMIERE D’ETOILE (S. Bogenhuber) improved on to the heels of STENTORIAN (T. Pannell) and when being steadied shifted out, resulting in SPANISH TYCOON (S. Drake), which was following, shifting in to avoid heels of LUMIERE D’ETOILE and as a result ONLY A FLING had to be steadied.
LUMIERE D’ETOILE (S. Bogenhuber) continued to overrace for some distance thereafter.
ONLY A FLING (K. Pope) raced ungenerously making the 1200m turn.
