Race 1: Beachside Constructions Brisbane Bloodstock Bonus 2yo H’cap - 1000m
1st – Miss Monashee 2nd – Magic Procession 3rd – Nikki Beach 4th – Tricky Touch
QUEEN OF TANTRUMS was declared a late scratching at 12.09 pm on veterinary advice after the horse became cast in the barrier stalls. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on QUEEN OF TANTRUMS were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar on the face value of win and place bets.
KIRRA LYN (J. Brown) was slow to begin.
Race 2: Fox Environmental Systems Maiden H’cap Div 1 - 1200m
1st – Hayergal 2nd – Maido Osaki Ni 3rd – In The Clink 4th –Fillabelle
READY TO RISE (S. Cormack) began awkwardly.
WIND ZIPPER (J. Taylor) and SATIN DREAM (G. Baker) were slow to begin.
Near the 800m, WERUNNA SUN (S. Galloway) had to be steadied off the heels of HAYLERGAL (O. Turpin) when that horse crossed to the lead. O. Turpin, rider of HAYLERGAL, was advised to exercise more care.
Race 3: Fox Environmental Systems Maiden H’cap Div 2 - 1200m
1st –Von Zipper 2nd – Kenny’s Magic 3rd – Tolart 4th - Tanzill
Apprentice J. Piper was fined $100 for accepting dual engagements on SHREPS and PRINCESS ASPEN. S. Holcombe was substituted as the rider of SHREPS.
BOLD MAL (N. Thomas) and TANZILL (B. Stewart) were slow to begin.
OUR WAVE (M. Hughes) shifted out at the start, making contact with PRINCESS ASPEN (J. Piper).
TANZILL (B. Stewart) overraced for a short distance near the 800m.
Passing the 800m, OUR WAVE (M. Hughes) overraced on the heels of VON ZIPPER (O. Turpin) and shifted out across the heels of RAINING KINGS (J. Taylor), taking SNOG (S. Cormack) wider.
Race 4: Everhard Industries Class 2 H’cap – 1800m
1st – Mister Tivoli 2nd – Uncle Jan 3rd – Mr Cosgrove 4th – Tanae Amber
YICKADEE (S. Bogenhuber) was slow to begin.
Both COXLESS (R. Wiggins) and MR COSGROVE (D. Spriggs) overraced in the early and middle stages of the race.
Near the 300m, SIRROCEAN STORM (J. Taylor) was tightened for room when racing between FEAR OF DEFEAT (S. Cormack) and TANAE AMBER (G. Baker), which shifted out. G. Baker, rider of TANAE AMBER, was reprimanded.
MISTER TIVOLI (J. Holder) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.
WEEK NIGHTS ON (K. Wharton) was caught racing wide for the majority of the event.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on LEGS UNDICI in today’s event as compared to the previous starts in which the horse usually occupies forward position, K. Cunningham advised stewards that over the longer distance of today’s event and from the wide barrier, the intention was not ride the horse along after the start as she was of the opinion the LEGS UNDICI may overrace. However, after easing the gelding at the start, LEG’S UNDICI lost more momentum than anticipated, which resulted in the horse settling at the rear of the field. The explanation was noted.
Race 5: Craig Plumbing (Qld) QTIS 3yo H’cap - 1200m
1st –Mfuwe 2nd – Yuketan 3rd – Falco Star 4th – Russeting
PELLTRO (D. Tanti) and RUSSETING (C. Isdale) came together and brushed at the start.
YUKETAN (M. Cahill) was held up for clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn.
Race 6: Southern Qld Plumbing Class 1 H’cap - 1000m
1st – Monashee Dancer 2nd – sword Of Damocles 3rd – Visitation 4th – Telesto Warrior
Jockey G. Baker was fined $100 for accepting dual engagements on STITCH IT and TOLGA in this event. K. Wharton was substituted as the rider of STITCH IT.
As S. Galloway was fined $100 for failing to fulfil his riding engagement on VISITATION. In deciding on penalty, stewards considered there were mitigating circumstances.
DETERMINISM was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior to the event and found to have a swollen off fore tendon sheath. The gelding was cleared to race.
TOLGA (G. Baker) was tightened for room on jumping away between MONASHEE DANCER (J. Holder) and ZARIZITIZ (S. Cormack), both of which shifted ground.
Near the 800m, SWORD OF DAMOCLES (R. Goltz) was tightened for room between LIYAH (L. Cheshire) and OBSERVE (J. Piper), which was taken out by TELESTO WARRIOR (B. Stewart).
At the same stage, DETERMINISM (M. Schmetzer) overraced for a short distance.
Leaving the 400m, OBSERVE overraced for a short distance on the heels of BALLY KELLY (R. Wiggins).
Near the 300m, SWORD OF DAMOCLES (R. Goltz) was tightened for room when racing between TELESTO WARRIOR (B. Stewart) and ARHONDAS (A. Spinks). BALLY KELLY (R. Wiggins) was checked in this incident. An inquiry into this matter will be held at a later date due to B. Stewart, rider of TELESTO WARRIOR, leaving the course without permission of stewards. B. Stewart will also be questioned regarding his failure to seek permission prior to leaving the track.
Race 7: Wahoo Plumbing Class 3 Plate - 1200m
1st – Grey Stream 2nd – Gunnadoit 3rd – Kids Show 4th – Playground Express
PLAYGROUND EXPRESS (C. Reith) and DASHING DODGE (R. Goltz) were slow to begin.
VOLITANT (M. Cahill) and GEEBEETEE (S. Cormack) came together on jumping away.
PUBLIC NUISANCE (M. Morris) had difficulty obtaining clear running until leaving the 100m.
MARTIROS (G. Baker), HONOUR WINNA (J. Byrne) and MAGIC PROMENADE (M. Radecker) all raced wide for the majority of the event.
JUST SEVEN (C. Bumstead) lost its near fore plate in running.
WHERE’SMINE lost its near hind plate in running.
Race 8: Select Bathroom & Plumbing Centre Open H’cap - 1000m
1st – Black Suit 2nd – Fleeting Echo 3rd – General Patton 4th – Court Adjourned
THE BIG EASY (J. Byrne) was slow to begin.
PROUDLY AGRO (M. Cahill) and GENERAL PATTON (R. McMahon) came together and brushed on jumping away.
SLICK TRICK (J. Piper) shifted in, making contact with DUSTY ZEPHYR (L. Cheshire) at the start.
Leaving the 800m, TELEGRAND (J. Taylor) had to be steadied off the heels of BLACK SUIT (G. Baker), which shifted in.
PROUDLY AGRO (M. Cahill) overraced for a short distance in the early stages.
DUSTY ZEPHYR was inclined to lay out in the early stages of the straight.
Near the 300m, PROUDLY AGRO (M. Cahill) had to be steadied when tightened for room between COURT ADJOURNED (E. Wilkinson) and GENERAL PATTON (R. McMahon), which shifted in.
Race 9: Select Bathroom & Plumbing Centre Open H’cap - 1000m
1st – Benragazzo 2nd – Hunter Dane 3rd – Splanglish 4th – Howdy Chelle
HANDSHAKE (G. Butler) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with SABA SAN (W. Clasohm).
Approaching the 400m, HOWDY CHELLE (S. Cormack) shifted out to improve and in doing so made contact with CLICKGOTHESHEARS (S. Holcombe).
SPANGLISH (O. Turpin) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight until leaving the 200m.
CLICKGOTHESHEARS (S. Holsombe) and MAILLOT VERT (S. Scriven) raced wide for the majority of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of BENRAGAZZO revealed the gelding to be suffering from thumps. Trainer B. Baker will be advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.
