Race 1: The Sunshine Coast Brewery QTIS 2yo Maiden H’cap - 1400m
1st – Monashee Gold 2nd – Captain Darling 3rd – Upi Bay 4th – My My Maree

Trainer J. Wallace was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for SAILON SIVLERGIRL by the prescribed time.

MOON CHASER (A. Spinks) was tightened for room on jumping away between COCONUT AIRWAYS (L. Cheshire) and MONASHEE GOLD (R. Wiggins), which shifted out.

CAPTAIN DARLING (C. Reith) and MOUBASSIN (S. Cormack) came together and brushed on jumping away.

CARBINCONI (O. Turpin) was slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn, MOUBASSIN shifted out to improve and in doing so bumped NO SPEAKADEENGLISH (J. Holder).

Leaving the 400m, COCONUT AIRWAYS (L. Cheshire) had to be steadied off the heels of CAPTAIN DARLING , which shifted out to improve.

CARBINCONI and APEPI (K. Wharton) raced wide for the majority of the event;




Race 2: Hotel Maleny Maiden Div 1 H’cap - 1200m
1st – Pride Of Poland 2nd – On The Leather 3rd – Created 4th – Raining Kings

RUMPAPUMPUM (K. Wharton) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 700m, PURE ACT (A. Nichols) shifted in and bump ON THE LEATHER (M. Cahill) on a couple of occasions.

FROZEN TIME (A. Spinks) and PURE ACT (A. Nichols) were caught racing wide for the majority of the event.



Race 3: Hotel Maleny Maiden Div 2 H’cap – 1200m
1st – Alright Man 2nd – More Than Primed 3rd – Maido Osakin Ni 4th - Truthful

ALRIGHT MAN was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon prior the race and cleared to start.

TIGER TERRIFIC (M. Morris) was slow to begin.

MAIDO OSAKIN NI (N. Thomas) began awkwardly and a short distance later was hampered by EMINENT SPEED (S. Cormack), which shifted out.

ALPHA TOWN (M. Radecker) and ALRIGHT MAN (P. Hammersley) came together and brushed on jumping away.

Near the 700m, OUR WAVE (J. Kropp) improved up on to the heels of TRUTHFUL (B. El-Issa) and shifted out, inconveniencing RESURRECTED (T. Pannell)

Approaching the 400m, TRUTHFUL shifted out to improve and in doing so forced MORE THAN PRIMED (K. Wharton) out on to MAIDO OSAKI (N. Thomas), resulting in MORE THAN PRIMED and MAIDO OSAKI bumping.

Near the 300m, GUILTY CONSCIENCE (S. Galloway) had to be steadied off the heels of HILDA’S LADY (A. Spinks), which shifted out under pressure.

MAIDO OSAKI NI (N. Thomas) and MIDNIGHT PASSION (L. Cheshire) were caught racing wide for the majority of the event.


Race 4: Neuendorf Interiors Maiden Plate - 1600m
1st –Shanamin 2nd – Labour Day 3rd – Dane Raider 4th – Bold Cugat

Trainer L. Janse vanRensburg was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for DINNA SADDLE by the prescribed time.

Trainer G. Harrison was advised that a warning was being placed on DANE RAIDER, which hung in throughout the race.

TYDEWATCH (B. Pengelly) and BOLD CUGAT (O. Turpin) were slow to begin.

MONCHELLE (J. Holder) was inconvenienced at the start by MR BLONDE (S. Cormack), which shifted out.

DANE RAIDER (K. Wharton) and DINNA SADDLE (L. Cheshire) were tightened for room on jumping away between GUNNEWIN (S. Holcombe) and HAMATYM (J. Piper), which shifted out.

Near the 1400m, DINNA SADDLE (L. Cheshire) was checked when racing to the inside of GUNNEWIN (S. Holcombe) and LABOUR DAY (A. Nichols). TYDEWATCH (B. Pengelly), which was trailing, was also checked in this incident. A. Nicholls, rider of LABOUR DAY, was given the benefit of the doubt as to whether he was responsible for the incident by allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GUNNEWIN. In deciding the matter, stewards took into account GUNNEWIN did contribute to the incident by shifting in.

MONCHELLE (J. Holder) was inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 200m.



Race 5: Corbould Park Bookmakers Class 3 Plate - 1600m
1st – Grey Stream 2nd – Ancient Titles 3rd – Intrepid Journey 4th – Jimidean

INTREPID JOURNEY (G. Baker) and JIMIDEAN (A. Spinks) were both slow to begin.

INTREPID JOURNEY was inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages.



Race 6: Crushers Leagues Club Open H’cap - 1400m
1st – Craiglea Warrior 2nd – Doonan Dancer 3rd – Telegrand 4th – Thebarefootbushman

THE BAREFOOTBUSHMAN (J. Piper) was slow to begin.

TELEGRAND (M. Hughes) and BITOFASMARTIE (T. Pannell) came together on jumping away.

CRAIGLEA WARRIOR (C. Dixon) raced wide for the majority of the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GO GAZZA, N. Thomas stated that the horse failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.


Race 7: Kings Beach Real Estate Class 1 H’cap - 1000m
1st – Pinelope 2nd – Monte Kwalo 3rd – Arhondas 4th – Knight’s Gem

KNIGHT’S GEM (O. Turpin) was tightened for room on jumping away between DASHABLONDE (A. Spinks) and DETERMINISM (T. Pannell), which shifted in after beginning awkwardly.

PINELOPE (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 800m, DETERMINISM (T. Pannell) and MISS ECHELON (K. Wharton) were both crowded for room when racing between KNIGHT’S GEM (O. Turpin) and ARHONDAS (G. Baker), which shifted in.



Race 8: Perry’s Hire Class 2 H’cap - 1200m
1st – Shagerz 2nd – Star Touch 3rd – Deacon 4th – King Of Spirit

GEEBEETEE, which reared over in the barriers, was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.03 pm. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on GEEBEETEE were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and place bets. The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had sustained lacerations to the withers, was lame in the near foreleg, and had lost its near fore plate. Trainer B. McLachan was advised that a veterinary clearance for GEEBEETEE would be required prior to its next race start, and that the gelding must also trial satisfactorily before being permitted to race again.

BEAU SAM (S. Holcombe) was slow to begin.

DEACON (C. Reith) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with PUBLIC NUISANCE (M. Morris)

A short distance after the start, STAR TOUCH (K. Wharton) and HAPPY GIGGLESON (A. Spinks) were tightened for room when racing between ONSCHULDIG (S. Galloway) and PUBLIC NUISANCE (M. Morris), which shifted in.

Approaching the 800m, PUBLIC NUISANCE (M. Morris) shifted out after improving onto the heels of BIG BONE GAL (G. Baker), and as a consequence, ONSCHULDIG shifted out, making contact with HAPPY GIGGLESON.

BELLA HEART (M. Palmer) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and until leaving the 100m.

M. Hughes, rider of KING OF SPIRIT, accidentally dropped his whip 100 metres from the finish.

SHAGERZ (B. Pengelly) shifted out under pressure over the final 100m metres.

When questioned regarding the performance of DEACON, particularly in the early stages of the event, C. Reith stated that after the horse was initially slow to begin, in his opinion, it then failed to handle the prevailing track conditions in the early and middle stages of the event. He further explained that DEACON only started to race more truly in the straight where, in his opinion, the gelding found better going.

HAPPY GIGGLESON (A. Spinks) raced wide for the majority of the event.






Race 9: Ashley Distributors Class 1 H’cap - 1400m
1st – Miss Maggie 2nd – Materazzi 3rd – Gold Strategy 4th – Patti

Trainer J. Vaughan was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for GOLD STRATEGY by the prescribed time.

ASTRONOMICAL (J. Holder) began awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with CLICKGOTHESHEARS (M.Cahill).

EQUAL SIGN (C. Isdale) and MATERAZZI (S. Galloway) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 700m, MATERAZZI shifted out, making contact with BEAR VALLEY (M. Hughes).

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ASTRONOMICAL, J. Holder stated that, in his opinion, the horse became stirred up prior to the race, which, in his opinion, was detrimental to the gelding’s chances during running. He was further of the opinion that the horse was able to handle the prevailing track conditions and that this was not a factor in the overall performance of ASTRONOMICAL.

Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of the 4th placegetter, PATTI, was fined $100 for returning to scale overweight.
