Pattillo to lead on the horse and was surprised as it previously had shown a tendency to be slow to begin. She further added that the horse was having its first start over 1800m and this, coupled with the horse not having had a start for more than a month, may have resulted in MY FLIGHT being fresh enough to take up the leading position. Jockey A. Pattillo stated that the horse began better than he had anticipated and looked to position the mare in a midfield position, however approaching the 1600m when it became apparent he was going to be caught in a 3-wide position, he elected to allow MY FLIGHT to stride forward and assume the lead.
