Race 1: Buderim Pharmacy CG&E Maiden H'cap - 1000m
1st – Final Impression 2nd – Hard Nut To Crack 3rd – Pat’s Boy 4th - Coolbie

FINAL IMPRESSION (D. Browne) was slow to begin.

Leaving the 600m, NORSTROEM (B. Richardson), which hung out for the majority of the event, and leaving the 600m shifted out, making contact with FINAL IMPRESSION and as a result became awkward for a short distance. PAT’S BOY (J. Stanley), which was following, was inconvenienced as a consequence.

HARD NUT TO CRACK (G. Killen) laid in under pressure in the home straight.

FLASH OF LUCK (J. Hoopert) raced wide throughout.

J. Stanley reported that PAT’S BOY raced greenly throughout and as a result he had difficulty fully testing the gelding in the home straight.

Race 2: Henzells Foundation F&M Maiden H'cap - 1000m
1st – Sister Emma 2nd – Get On 3rd – Dee Minishing 4th – Bendigo Belle

CHI KO (L. Cassidy) jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.

GET ON (D. McWhinney), which raced wide throughout, had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of OPPOSITES revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer K. Hickmott indicated that OPPOSITES would now be retired. Nevertheless, Mr Hickmott was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for OPPOSITES should it race again.

Race 3: Noosa Fair – Pelican Waters Shopping Village Maiden H'cap – 1400m
1st – Purrfectlyfearless 2nd – Windborne 3rd – Hot Edition 4th – Lifting Benny

DEEKAYEL (J. Hoopert) and LIFTING BENNY (B. Hull) began awkwardly.

Leaving the 1000m, both ROUGH AND RECKLESS (L. Cassidy) and LIFTING BENNY (B. Hull) commenced to overrace when the pace slackened.

When questioned as to the performance of LIFTING BENNY, B. Hull stated that the gelding had shown a tendency to race ungenerously at its previous starts and whilst it raced more tractably today, LIFTING BENNY still resented racing inside other horses. B. Hull added that he was held up rounding the home turn, and in the early stages of the straight he attempted to take a run to the inside of WINDBORNE (R. McMahon) but the gelding was reluctant to improve before being disappointed for that run when WINDBORNE shifted in. B. Hull further added that he then shifted to the outside of WINDBORNE and was disappointed for a run on 2 occasions when WINDBORNE and HOT EDITION, to his outside, shifted ground and as such he was unable to fully test LIFTING BENNY for the majority of the home straight. Jockey Hull was of the view that LIFTING BENNY was better suited when able to shift outside of other runners and afforded a clear and uninterrupted run in the home straight. Trainer B. Ahrens agreed with the comments of Jockey Hull and confirmed that he will instruct riders in future to obtain clear running to the outside of other horses where possible.

A post-race veterinary examination of ROUGH AND RECKLESS, which returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth, revealed the horse had dislodged a tooth. Trainer L. Treloar indicated that ROUGH AND RECKLESS would now be sent for a spell.

Following the running of this race, J. Hoopert (DEEKAYEL) was examined by the doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.

Race 4: Glenview Gold Course Class 3 Plate - 1800m
1st – Higher Order 2nd – Desert Vision 3rd – Dolly Dolly 4th - Tigrlicious

Shortly after the start, DESERT VISION (R. McMahon) lost ground when tightened for room between TRIUMPHANT ONE (M. Hellyer) and DOLLY DOLLY (R. Myers), which was taken out by PRUSSIAN MOON (B. Stewart).

GOLDEN PALMS and RUSTY TRAWLER raced wide in the early stages.

TRIUMPHANT ONE overraced in the early and middle stages of the race and as a result shifted wider on the track leaving the 1000m and was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the race.

Leaving the 900m, TIGERLICIOUS (L. Cassidy) shifted out and bumped RUSTY TRAWLER (A. Taylor).

R. McMahon reported that after suffering interference shortly after the start he was reluctant to pressure DESERT VISION in the early stages as the gelding has shown a tendency to overrace at its previous starts.

Near the 300m, DOLLY DOLLY improved into a run between PRUSSIAN MOON and GOLDEN PALMS (R. Hurdle) and in doing so bumped GOLDEN PALMS on a number of occasions.

Race 5: MHM Accountants Class 1 H'cap - 1200m
1st – Passivity 2nd – Spurfect 3rd – Adalfe 4th – Leveraction

SPIRITOFTHEDRAGON (R. Hurdle) reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

RED RAPTOR (G. Cooksley) lost ground at the start when tightened for room between PASSIVITY (B. Stewart) and HOT ICE (T. Huxham), both of which shifted ground.

LEVERACTION (G. Goold) began awkwardly.

Leaving the 1100m, LEVERACTION commenced to race fiercely when tightened for room by HOT ICE (T. Huxham), which shifted in. T. Huxham, rider of HOT ICE, was reprimanded for failing to ensure he was sufficiently clear when shifting ground. LEVERACTION then continued to race fiercely at the heels of HOT ICE for a considerable distance thereafter, and leaving the 600m had to be checked from the heels of HOT ICE on a number of occasions.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on SPURFECT, jockey J. Stanley stated that he was instructed to take up a forward position, as had been the instructions at the mare’s previous start. He added however after being slow to begin at its last start, the mare was forced to race towards the rear of the field. Trainer J. McLachlan confirmed the instructions and his intention to have SPURFECT take up a forward position in its future starts. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 6: Fencepac Class 4 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Daytime Dazzler 2nd – Princely 3rd – Love Our Girls 4th – Visona Rose

Correct weight was delayed when connections of the 4th placegetter, VISONA ROSE, made application for the horse to be declared a non runner on the basis it was denied a fair start when its barrier gate was marginally slow to open. After considering submissions from the connections of VISONA ROSE and viewing the patrol footage, stewards established that the gates on the barrier in which VISONA ROSE was situated did open marginally slower than the other barrier gates, however stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that this incident materially prejudiced the chances of VISONA ROSE finishing in the placings and subsequently declared the horse a runner.

Near the 800m, PRINCELY (C. Pye) had to be checked to avoid the heels of RICHLY BLENDED (Michael Palmer), which was taken in by BELLAVONANE (J. Johnson), which shifted in. J. Johnson, rider of BELLAVONANE, was severely reprimanded and reminded of her obligations to keep her mounts on a straight course.

Passing the 300m, BELLAVONANE and RICHLY BLENDED were tightened for room and made heavy contact when racing between PRINCELY, which shifted out and away from OPAL OMBRA (A. Taylor), making heavy contact with RICHLY BLENDED, and BAHAMA FLYER (J. Stanley), which shifted in. When being corrected, BAHAMA FLYER shifted out, making contact with VISONA ROSE (D. Browne). C. Pye, rider of PRINCELY, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances, and J. Stanley, rider of BAHAMA FLYER, was issued with a severe reprimand.

Race 7: Royal Flying Doctor Service Class 2 H'cap – 1400m
1st – Beseech 2nd – Egyptian Tomb 3rd – The Calibrator 4th – Montreux Jazz

EGYPTIAN TOMB (Michael Palmer) began awkwardly.

SAVEEDA (R. Myers) was slow to begin.

PRINCE LIAM (R. Hurdle) jumped in the air as the start was effected.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the reason for GET UPPITY (D. Sparks) having to be checked and lose ground near the 1200m. As jockey G. Cooksley, rider of THE CALIBRATOR, had left the course the inquiry was adjourned to a date and time to be fixed. Jockey Cooksley will also be interviewed as to the reason why he left the course without first seeking permission.

Rounding the home turn LOUPETS (T. Huxham) was held up for clear running and then near the 400m was disappointed for a run between PRINCE LIAM and SAVEEDA and obliged to shift out to obtain clear running.

Near the 150m, LOUPETS was again disappointed for a run between FOURARDEESON (D. Browne) and GET UPPITY (D. Sparks).

SAVEEDA laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 8: Fort Knox Storage Class 1 H'cap – 1600m
1st – Auburn Gold 2nd – Baton Twirler 3rd – Suite Heavens 4th – Legazpi

EIDSVOLD (G. Cooksley) was slow to begin.

TALE OF HARMONY (A. Holt) began awkwardly.

TALE OF HARMONY raced wide in the early stages.

Passing the 800m, TOUCH ME KNOTT (R. Hurdle) had to be eased when forced to race in restricted room between AUBURN GOLD (R. McMahon) and TALE OF HARMONY, which shifted in. A. Holt, rider of TALE OF HARMONY, was severely reprimanded and advised of his obligations to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground.

Near the 600m, TOUCH ME KNOTT improved onto the heels of TALE OF HARMONY and had to be checked.

Approaching the 300m, ONAROHL (J. Stanley) was disappointed for a run between ROCKLEA RAIDER (M. Vance) and SUITE HEAVEN (M. Hellyer)

Near the 200m, ONAROHL was inconvenienced when ROCKLEA RAIDER shifted in marginally.

AUDACIOUS AL (J. Hoopert) raced wide for the majority of the event.
