Trainer D. Murphy was fined $100 for failing to scratch Campionessa by the prescribed time.

Race 1: Shultz Toomey O’Brien Lawyers Maiden Plate – 850m
1st – Spirit Of Liberty 2nd – Read All About Me 3rd – Campionessa 4th – Show Coast
Trainer D. Murphy was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for CAMPIONESSA by the prescribed time.
The start was delayed when PRIME QUEST kicked out in the barriers. PRIME QUEST was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently declared a late scratching 6.31 pm on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event all monies invested on PRIME QUEST were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

Trainer W. Lawson was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for PRIME QUEST prior to the mare racing again.
HOLLY COMMAND (B. Derbyshire) raced greenly in the early stages and was inclined to lay out in the middle stages of the race.
HEY MICKEY (S. Shield) raced greenly in the early stages
JUST WATCHER (G. Killen) hung out rounding the home turn.
HOLLY COMMAND was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
B. Derbyshire, rider of HOLLY COMMAND, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 300m she did shift out to obtain clear running to the outside of CAMPIONESSA (L. Cassidy) and in doing so permitted HOLLY COMMAND to shift a considerable distance, resulting in SHOW COAST (C. Jokic) being hampered. B. Derbyshire was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 24 March and to expire at midnight, 6 April.
Near the 200m, HEY MICKEY shifted out and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HOLLY COMMAND.
L. Tarrant reported that KIRALIM was inclined to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination of KIRALIM failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 2: Seven Local News Maiden H'cap – 1300m
1st – Stalwart Tycoon 2nd – Persian Book 3rd – Loading Zone 4th – Feminine Miss
Trainer R. Bradshaw was fined $100 for failing to scratch PERFECT BUBBLE by the prescribed time.
Connections advised that LOADING ZONE would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. LOADING ZONE (P. Schmidt) began awkwardly and lost ground, and shortly thereafter was hampered when tightened for room between FEMININE MISS (A. Taylor) and SHE’S A MIRAGE (M. Gray), which was taken out by WILD TYPE (D. Browne).
FANCY FERN (A. Merritt) and TSUIMAI GAL (M. McKenzie) were slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, PERSIAN BOOK (K. Wharton) was hampered when tightened for room between STALWART TYCOON (G. Goold) and EYE PATCH, which was taken out by EXCEPTION (S. Shield).
Leaving the 600m, EXCEPTION (S. Shield) commenced to overrace at the heels of EYE PATCH and in doing so shifted wider on the track.
After passing the 500m, EXCEPTION had to be steadied when tightened for room between EYE PATCH (L. Tarrant), which shifted out marginally, and STALWART TYCOON, which shifted in. G. Goold, rider of STALWART TYCOON, was reprimanded and reminded of his obligations to ensure he is 2 lengths clear before shifting ground.
Upon straightening, LOADING ZONE shifted out and bumped EYE PATCH (L. Tarrant).
EXCEPTION, STALWART TYCOON, PERSIAN BOOK and EYE PATCH raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Shultz Toomen O’Brien Lawyers Class 2 H'cap – 1400m
1st – Keepin’ Grace 2nd – On The Deck 3rd – Domini 4th – Short Safari
HONOURDO (G. Goold) was slow to begin.
BRILLIANT DRAGON (D. Browne) shifted out at the start, hampering KEEPIN’ GRACE (L. Tarrant).
EDDIE (E. Wilkinson) and GOLD CAT (P. Schmidt) bumped on jumping away.
GOLDCAT (P. Schmidt) suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Connections were advised that GOLDCAT would be barred from racing for 3 months.
D. Browne reported that whilst BRILLIANT DRAGON only finished the race off fairly, he was of the view that the horse may be looking for further distance in its races.
L. Tarrant was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Race 4: Garland Waddington F&M Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Pretty Gully 2nd – Monicelli 3rd – Diamond Trail 4th - Angelfly
Shortly after the start, DIAMOND TRAIL (L. Tarrant) was hampered when tightened for room between MISTY WARRIOR (P. Holmes) and GRABTHEMONEY’N’RUN (L. Morrison), which began awkwardly and shifted out.
MONICELLI (B. Stewart) raced greenly in the early stages.
MISTY WARRIOR (P. Holmes) hung out in the middle stages.
JEWEL OF CASHEL (M. Hellyer), which was overracing in the early stages, had to be steadied from the heels of MONICELLI (B. Stewart) leaving the 1000m, and again near the 700m.
DIAMOND TRAIL (L. Tarrant) shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
ANGELFLY (L. Cassidy) and MISTY WARRIOR raced wide throughout.
Race 5: Paramount Collections CG&E Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Proof Of Life 2nd – Dinna Sign 3rd – I’m Busted 4th – Bag Of Riddles
Trainer R. McCall will be interviewed at a later date regarding the late scratching of MAGNI at 7.55 am.
I’M BUSTED (B. Richardson) and OVERRULE (G. Goold) were tightened for room at the start between DINNA SIGN (T. Wolfgram) and WESTERN BUZZ (L. Morrison), which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out some distance. In this incident, both OVERRULE and DINNA SIGN became unbalanced as a result of the heavy contact and lost ground.
L. Morrison reported WESTERN BUZZ hung out over the concluding stages.
I’M BUSTED and CHIRICAHUA (S. Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.
Race 6: The Caloundra Spinal & Sports Medicine Clinic Class 4 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Loupets 2nd – Cover Up 3rd – Flagges Flying 4th – Power Source
The start was delayed when POWER SOURCE (A. Coome) was reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that POWER SOURCE must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
COVER UP (B. Richardson) and POWER SOURCE bumped on jumping away.
FLAGGES FLAYING (J. Morris) was hampered on jumping away when tightened for room between BOSSBERG (G. Goold) and LOUPETS (D. Browne), which shifted out.
BIG CHANCE (T. Wolfgram) began very awkwardly and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer’s representative Mr T. Edmonds was advised that BIG CHANCE must perform satisfactorily in an official trial prior to being permitted to race again.
COVER UP (B. Richardson) overraced in the early and middle stages.
ANDY SAID lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 7: Shultz Toomey O’Brien Lawyers Class 3 H'cap – 1600m
1st – Electrojet 2nd – Pat’s Boy 3rd – Legazpi 4th – Excellent Dane
Trainer G. Pollock was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for OSCARMANIA by the prescribed time.
Apprentice Z. Scullie was fined $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on LEGAZPI.
EXCELLENT DANE (M. Hellyer) shifted out at the start and bumped SILENT LAKE (E. Wilkinson).
Near the 1300m, PAT’S BOY (J. Stanley) shifted out from behind the heels of BOOBOISIE (M. Gray) and bumped EXCELLENT DANE (M. Hellyer) on a number of occasions. J. Stanley was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. As a consequence, EXCELLENT DANE was obliged to race 3 wide until assuming a position outside the leader near the 800m.
Near the 200m, ELECTROJET (G. Goold) shifted out and brushed PAT’S BOY.
LEGAZPI (Z. Scullie) raced wide throughout.
G. Goold, rider of ELECTROJET, was fined $200 for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
