GENERAL
Due to participants being unable to arrive on course with sufficient time to race, all races were rescheduled back one race time, with the last race to run at 5.39 pm.
Race 1: Element On Coolum Beach Maiden H'cap – 1000m
TEXAS WEDGE – Became cast in the barriers and had to be removed through the front of the barriers. Following this, the horse was declared a late scratching at 1.22 pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on Texas Wedge were ordered refunded, with the following deductions applicable. Connections were advised that 2 barrier certificates must be obtained for TEXAS WEDGE prior to its next race start.

SHARDAY – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied near the 700m.
ORATRY – Tightened for room and had to be steadied leaving the 900m. Steadied again near the 700m.
SHE BRINGS JOY – Shifted in leaving the 900m, and again near the 700m, causing tightening to other runners. Rider S. Vigar was issued with a reprimanded for each incident. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m, making contact with another runner.
LUV HUNTER – Bucked near the 800m, dislodging the rider. Jockey A. Spinks was transported to hospital for further observation.
MANANDRO GIRL – Tightened for room between runners approaching the 200m.
Race 2: Bottom Line Control QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1200m
PACEMAKER - Trainer S. Kendrick was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
The start of this race was delayed when it took a period of time to transfer jockey Andrew Spinks into the second ambulance in order to be transported to hospital, and further delayed when holding for an interstate event.
COMMANDO BATTAGLIA – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit – The horse was ridden accordingly.
BUSH BOY – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced and steadied approaching the 1100m.
PACEMAKER – Slow to begin and was then hampered shortly after the start.
HOT TEMPO – Overraced when being restrained in order to secure cover during the early stages. Shifted in causing interference approaching the 1100m. Rider M. Hellyer was reprimanded for this incident.
DOOM CITY DRAGON – Shifted wider on the track after improving on to the heels of a weakening horse approaching the 400m.
JUST CALL ME LOUIE – Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Bell Potter Maiden H'cap – 1400m
GAYLEN – Slow to begin. Forced to check near the 1200m.
BRAUHAUS – Slow to begin.
MARLON’S LAD – Slow to begin. Apprentice A. Fancourt pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 1200m she shifted in to take up a position behind THOU ART, which resulted in a tightening to GALLIVANTNG, causing that horse to shift in, tightening the running of SNIP OF ROYALTY, resulting in that horse making contact with the running rail and being checked at this stage. GAYLEN, which was following, also sustained interference in this incident and FAIRWAY CLOSE. A. Fancourt was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 8 October and to expire at midnight, 22 October.
FAIRWAY CLOSE – Slow to begin.
GALLIVANTING – Slow to begin.
SNIP OF ROYALTY – Severely checked near the 1200m and lost significant ground.
PIMLICO GIRL – Overraced for a short distance passing the 800m.
SHARP RATIO – After being ridden forward leaving the 800m, had to be steadied off heels. Rider A. Herne was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
GOLDTHORN – Shifted out rounding the home turn and bumped and then continued to bump for some distance, becoming somewhat unbalanced.
CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Bumped rounding the home turn on a number of occasions and became unbalanced.
Race 4: Coolum Beach Bowls Club BM75 H'cap – 1600m
EMPRESS ME – Slow to begin.
COLOUR CHARGE – Tightened for room and steadied over the concluding stages.
MAUGHAN – Forced wider over the concluding stages.
CALL ME RUSTY – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages causing interference to its outside. Rider E. Wilkinson was reprimanded.
Race 5: Bentleys Class 1 H'cap – 1600m
PALACE WHISPERS – Shifted wider near the 1200m when the pace slackened and improved forward to assume a position outside the lead after passing the 800m.
BE ALLE BELLE – Raced wide in the early stages.
HAPPY ROOM – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
JETTING TO LONDON – Had some difficulty securing clear running passing the 200m.
Race 6: North Shore Realty Class H'cap – 1400m
Due to time constraints in fulfilling Toowoomba engagements following the rescheduling of today’s race times, S. Payne was substituted as the rider of BROADWAY LASS.
TIPS ‘N’ TALES – Slow to begin.
LEMAITRE – Jockey A. Best reported that after beginning awkwardly he had some difficulty with the positioning of his foot in the off-side iron. He added that his mount overraced and as a result he shifted wider on the track approaching the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards. Jockey Best was nevertheless advised by stewards to exercise more care in that in the early stages when riding his mount along he permitted it to shift in, causing tightening to runners to his inside.
SISTER EMMA – Had to be steadied and lost ground during the early stages after being tightened for room. Held up rounding the home turn.
BILLY DA BOSS – Inconvenienced and forced wider near the 1000m and raced wide from that point onwards.
CHILWERO – Shifted out near the 500m to secure clear running to improve and in doing so made contact with another runner and became unbalanced.
DUNLAP – Bumped and became unbalanced near the 500m and again became unbalanced at the hind quarters of another runner approaching the 400m.
BAITED BREATH – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages. Rider M. Hellyer was of the view that his mount was lame in the off foreleg. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was sore in the off foreleg. A veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
Race 7: Ram Automotive Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
MAXIRODS – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced over concluding stages.
BEYOND THE STORM – Checked from heels and shifted out, losing ground near the 700m when overracing.
KISS MY BRASS – Commenced to overrace after passing the 700m and hung out and as a result lost ground after passing the 600m.
HENNY’S HERO – Steadied from heels of another runner after passing the 500m and lost ground and then obliged to shift out to secure clear running and in doing so inconvenienced another runner.
NIVALI – Hung out rounding the home turn for a short distance and then when placed under full pressure leaving the 300m laid in causing its rider to be unable to fully test the horse.
BOLD ASSIGNMENT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.
YOHO – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages. Raced wide throughout.
SAGAMASTER – Rider obliged to stop riding and alter course to avoid heels near the 200m. Returned to scale with blood in its off side nostril. Connections were advised it must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.
CURLEW – Raced wide throughout.
LORDAG – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 8: Coolum Business & Tourism Class 3 H'cap – 1200m
MERCURY JET – Significantly slow to begin.
MY BLING – Overraced in the early and middle stages and on a number of occasions lost ground when restrained from heels.
BEAUTRIX – Shifted out rounding the home turn to secure clear running, hampering another runner.
JAVELENTIA – Inconvenienced and forced wider rounding the home turn. Stewards afforded jockey L. Rolls the opportunity to comment on the performance. He stated that from the wide alley he was instructed to ride the horse in the second half of the field and after enjoying a nice run with cover in the early and middle stages, suffered minor interference rounding the home turn, however was afforded clear running in the home straight. Despite this the gelding failed to run on and, in his view, the overall performance disappointing and he was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance.
DANDY FINE – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running over the concluding stages.
