SPRINGSURE RACE CLUB
STEWARDS REPORT – SATURDAY 17TH MARCH, 2001
STEWARDS: G. WUST (CHAIRMAN), G. MEEK, G. SCOTT (CADET)
WEATHER: FINE TRACK: DIRT
GENERAL: The starting time of Race 1 was amended by 20 minutes and Race 2 by 10 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance attending an emergency.
Due to Apprentice T. Banks being indisposed on the day and unable to fulfil his engagements, stewards approved the following rider amendments:
Race 1 POWER SEEKER Michael Stephens
Race 2 MRS. O’BE Michael Stephens
Race 3 NOBLE KNAVE (NZ) Craig Beets
RACE 1 CLASS 4 HCP. 1000 METRES – (4 STARTERS): PRIDE PACK jumped outwards and made contact with WOBBLY BOOT at the jump.
No further racing incidents.
RACE 2 CLASS 2 HCP. 1000 METRES – (8 STARTERS): SPIRITED GIRL was slow into stride.
Upon return to scale a protest was lodged by John Stephens, rider of the third placegetter MRS. O’BE against the second placegetter JANEMMA ridden by A. Williams alleging interference at the 950 metres. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol film it was established that shortly after the start JANEMMA shifted in when insufficiently clear resulting in TELLEGRA (G. Bell) having to be checked.
TELLEGRA was taken in as a result and MRS. O’BE was hampered and lost its position. Stewards were not satisfied that the interference warranted a reversal of placings and the protest was dismissed.
At a subsequent inquiry into this incident A. Williams (JANEMMA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) and his licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of (3) C.R.A race meetings to commence immediately and to expire after 30th March, 2001.
RACE 3 CLASS 3 HCP, 1300 METRES – (6 STARTERS): BATU raced wide until the 300 metres point in an effort to avoid dust and find firmer ground.
No further racing incidents.
RACE 4 SUPER QRIS MAIDEN HCP, 1200 METRES – (10 STARTERS): Trainer W. Baker was fined the sum of $25 for failing to notify a gear change for ACHTUNG ENGLANDER.
ACHTUNG ENGLANDER knuckled over at the start.
DAGWORTH was slow into stride.
DANE PARADE was obliged to race five deep from the start until approximately the 500 metres point.
NOT TELLING YOU was held up for a run at approximately the 100 metres point.
RACE 5 GOLD CUP HCP. 1200 METRES – (10 STARTERS): NORPICK displayed a tendency to hang inwards between the 300 metres point and the finish line.
No further racing incidents.
RACE 6 CLASS 6 HCP, 1000 METRES – (7 STARTERS): No racing incidents.
