Race 1: XXXX Gold/ Traver’s Transport Class B Handicap- 900 metres
1st – TROPIC GEM 2nd – DUAN ALLIBAR 3rd – MAI MAIBE 4th- MY OPPURTUNITY
ROSE OF LAWRENCE was declared a late scratching at 12.35pm due to no available rider.
TROPIC GEM (N. Patchett) and HER DIAMONDS (App A Kitson) made contact on jumping.
HER DIAMONDS raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Martin’s Stock Haulage/ Central H/Lands Regional Council QTIS Maiden Plate- 900 metres
1st – PRIVZERO 2nd – SPIRIT BEAT 3rd – ZIONIC 4th – MORAR SECRET
Stewards accepted Trainer T. Williams explanation regarding the late rider declaration for HARAKA ZULU. Mr Williams was reminded of his obligations to have a ride at the required time.
The start was delayed when SPIRIT BEAT was difficult to load. Due to mitigating circumstances, Trainer C Smith was advised that a warning would be placed against the gelding.
HARAKA ZULU was slow to begin.
Correct weight was delayed when Jockey R. Kerwin wished to view the available patrol film of the race at the home turn and in the straight. Due to the inadequate vision, this incident was unable to be viewed. Stewards placed observations on the record of the incident near the 100m. Following this, Jockey Kerwin did not wish to proceed.
It was established that PRIVZERO (App S Egan) had rolled out on the home turn, however had not hampered SPIRIT BEAT (R. Kerwin.) Near the 100m, PRIVZERO shifted out under pressure and caused SPIRIT BEAT to be eased and alter course.
Race 3: Dooley’s Tavern & Motels Bracelet Class 3 Plate- 1100 metres
1st – VAIN DAZZLER 2nd – TIE HAND 3rd – WHAT DO YOU WANT 4th – CRASH BAM BOOM
CRASH BAM BOOM (App S McCullum) raced three wide throughout.
Near the 100 metres, TIE HAND (S. McGovern) lay in under pressure behind WHAT DO YOU WANT (R. Kerwin).
Apprentice A Kitson reported that GIVE IM ZA had been inclined to lay in throughout.
Following this race, Jockey R Kerwin sought medical attention to a recurring injury to her left knee and was stood down for her remaining engagement. Jockey Kerwin was advised that a medical would be required prior to her next riding engagements.
Race 4: Bandanna Energy Class B Handicap- 1400 metres
1st – COUNTRYWIDE 2nd – SANSIRA 3rd – DEEKAYEL 4th – FICKLE BUSINESS
FICKLE BUSINESS (S. McGovern) was slow into stride.
Race 5: Minerva Mine Springure St Patricks Day RC Cup Open Handicap- 1400 metres
1st – MONCHING 2nd – DAAD’S OVERTIME 3rd –BOLTON ABBEY 4th – BEE JAY SENZA
Due to no other senior rider being available, Apprentice S McCullum was permitted to replace R. Kerwin.
BOLTON ABBEY (App A Kitson) was a little slow to begin
Jockey D. Simmons was reprimanded for a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
Stewards sought an explanation regarding the tactics employed on, and performance of, RAZOR GANG. Apprentice McCullum stated the gelding had begun well, and as instructed, he was able to balance the gelding up in a comfortable position to the inside the leader. App. McCullum stated RAZOR GANG was first up in today’s race and its fitness had given out from near the 400m, particularly over the unsuitable distance of 1400m.
