RACE 1:ST GEORGE/DIRRANBANDI COTTON GROWERS & AG N VET QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M –
1st –Gothic Innocence 2nd –Kellina’s Shadow 3rd-Jovial Joke 4th –Tohell’n’back
DOURADO (B Powell) was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 1:09pm after the colt was unable to be loaded into the barriers. Stewards upon declaration of correct weight ordered that all monies invested on DOURADO be refunded with deductions of 8 cents the win and 9 cents the place to apply on all successful bets.
Stewards advised Trainer T Mead that DOURADO would require a further barrier certificate prior to next start.
COLOURED VEIL (Z Landry) began awkwardly and over raced during the early and middle stages.
JOVIAL JOKE (E Wilson) raced in restricted room over the concluding stages between KELLINA’S SHADOW (R Cox) which shifted out slightly and GOTHIC INNOCENCE (L McCoy) which shifted in slightly.
RACE 2: BAYER CROP SCIENCE/JONES AIR CLASS 3 H’CAP 1000M–
1st –To Fast To Good 2nd –Sedan 3rd –Go Nugget 4th –Heitzmann
Stewards permitted S Sweedman to ride SEDAN 1/2kg overweight.
HEITZMANN (D Frahm) which was slow to begin, made contact with the running rail near the 800m and lost ground.
PATTON (J Warrington) over-raced during the early stages.
GO NUGGET (L McCoy) shifted out rounding the home turn taking DR CHICAGO (B Thomson) wider on the track.
MARSKE PRINCE (J Cook) raced wide throughout.
RACE 3: ST GEORGE MACHINERY CLASS B H’CAP 1150M-
1st -Saintes 2nd –Clinto Khan 3rd –Sylect 4th –Impending Storm
SAINTES (J Cook) jumped out at the start hampering SYLECT (B Thomson).
A LITTLE DANGER (S Sweedman) jumped out at the start hampering IMPENDING STORM (D Monaghan).
Near the 100m, SAINTES shifted in under hard riding resulting in BANNETT (J Warrington) having to ease and lose his position. SAINTES continued to shift in and as a result CLINTO KHAN was placed in restricted room over the concluding stages. Stewards severely reprimanded jockey Cook as a result of this incident for shifting in when insufficiently clear.
RACE 4: BALONNE STEEL-RURAL & IPLEX PIPELINE CLASS 5 H’CAP 1150M-
1st- August Fair 2nd-Midori Lad 3rd-Lasrado 4th-Desert Red
As S Sweedman was to be overweight he was replaced as the rider of PETALAN by S Galvin. At a subsequent inquiry S Sweedman was fined $200 for accepting 2 rides, PETALAN race 4 and SEDAN race 2 when overweight.
CHIEF HARRIGAN (M Abe) jumped out at the start hampering PETALAN (S Galvin)
BIGGA’N’BETTA (J Cook) raced wide throughout.
Near the 900m, LASRADO (B Thomson) was hampered by AUGUST FAIR (E Wilson) which shifted in.
RACE 5: QLD COTTON ST GEORGE CUP OPEN H’CAP 1500M
1st-Pedro’s Amaizing 2nd-Burmak 3rd-Bang Clang Alang 4th-Digging Deep
Stewards inquired into the reasons why App. R Cox was unable to claim his full allowance as the rider of KELLINA’S SHADOW in race 1, CLINTO KHAN race 3 and DIGGING DEEP race 5. After hearing submissions from App. Cox Stewards fined him the sum of $200.
NEWBERRY WONDER (S Galvin) stood flat footed and missed the start by a considerable distance. Stewards advised trainer D McEwan that NEWBERRY WONDER would require a further barrier certificate prior to next start.
Near the 1100m, BANG CLANG ALANG (C Bryen) was tightened for room and forced to ease by ALBARISTA (J Cook) which shifted in.
Near the 750m, MOUNT VERNON (M Abe) compounded badly and failed to finish the event. A post race inspection of MOUNT VERNON revealed the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Stewards advised trainer M Goodwin that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months under the provisions of Ar53.
Near the 700m, BAND CLANG ALANG was severely interfered with when forced to take evasive action to avoid the compounding MOUNT VERNON.
