SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From Dalby Race 5 - 31.08.13
Stewards resumed an inquiry into apprentice A. Fancourt’s riding of SONG OF THE BELL. Trainer B. Currie confirmed the instructions to be aggressive from the wide barrier and to race in a forward position. He added that he was satisfied with the ride and felt that the performance could be attributed to the horse subsequently having been found to have bled from one nostril, which he reported to stewards in the following days. In considering the evidence, stewards advised A. Fancourt that they believed there was an opportunity for her to attempt to settle her mount after obtaining the lead near the 800m, however were mindful of the report from B. Currie subsequent to the event and therefore took no further action. B. Currie was advised that SONG OF THE BELL would be required to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to being permitted to race again.

Race 3: Cattle Camp Motel Class B Handicap 1200m

RYTARGA (T. O’Hara) was slow to begin.

MANFRED THE MAN (G. Geran) began awkwardly and lost ground.

Stewards sought an explanation from G. Geran, the rider of MANFRED THE MAN, regarding the horse racing a significant distance behind the main body of the field and the overall performance of that runner. He stated that after his mount lost ground at the start, it raced greenly and would not stretch out on today’s track surface and when pressured, resented the kickback from the track. He added that his mount did respond to his riding from approaching the home turn and ran on fairly from that point. A post race veterinary examination of MANFRED THE MAN failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance of GOLDEN TOUCH which raced tailed off, rider N. Ogura stated that he was required to pressure his mount from the start and that it failed to respond to his riding and resented the kickback from the track. Trainer B. Richardson stated that the mare had been working well and was at a loss to explain the performance, however may have been in season. B. Richardson was advised that a warning would be placed against GOLDEN TOUCH for being uncompetitive. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4: Phipps Family Trust Class 3 Plate 1400m

Due to a power outage during this race, there was no photo finish in operation.

Correct weight was delayed when Mr C. Smith, master of apprentice M. McGillivray, approached stewards as he believed THE WATER BOMBER (M. McGillivray) had placed 3rd and not 5th as per the judge’s semaphored numbers. The stewards consulted with the Judge regarding the official semaphored numbers of 5 - 10 - 1 - 6 - 7. After consultation, reviewing the official video and taking evidence from riders T. O’Hara (NORDIC WARRIOR), L. Tilley (CYCLONE STEVE), M. McGillivray (THE WATER BOMBER) and the trainer of NORDIC WARRIOR, stewards amended the placing’s in accordance with AR156(3), to be 5 - 10 - 7 - 6 - 1, and correct weight was declared on these numbers.

McGovern was advised that she would be required to provide a veterinary certificate for the gelding before being permitted to race again, Ms McGovern informed stewards that in light of today’s performance she would now retire BE JAY SENZA.

S. Apthorpe (MORGAN MISS) stated that his mount was not able to muster any early speed and raced at the tail of the field. He added that his mount was not comfortable on today’s track and resented the kick back from the track. A post-race veterinary examination of MORGAN MISS failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
