Race 1: CLASS B HANDICAP - 1200 metres
1st: HANDY HERO 2nd: LEICANAVALANCHE 3rd: NED’S SUGGESTION 4th: BEE BELLE
HANDY HERO proved difficult to load. Brought to the attention of trainer Jeff Rideout.
Shortly after the start AERO BELLE threw its head in the air and lost ground.
Rounding the home turn NED’S SUGGESTION shifted out and lost ground. Apprentice C McIver, in company with trainer Dave Vale, was spoken to with reference to the use of his whip on the home turn, which may have contributed to the horse moving out.

Race 2: QRSE CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 1200 metres
1st: KOBI COVE 2nd: DANCE FOR GLORY 3rd: CREPITATE 4th: PIMPALA TORI
S D Burns was questioned regarding the ownership of DANCE FOR GLORY. He stated that the transfer had been processed by the D & SWDRA on or about the 25th February. The registrar had not yet recorded the enactment. The matter to be investigated by stewards.

Race 3: MAIDEN PLATE – 1075 metres
1st: LADY FLICK 2nd: KAENDY 3rd: BLUE TOOUSA 4th: FEATHER BED
D Evans was questioned regarding the poor showing of FEATHER BED. He stated that the gelding was reluctant to stride out in the early stages and when he endeavored to improve the gelding was reluctant to take a run inside BLUETOOUSA (M Barnham) in the middle stages. Approaching the home turn FEATHER BED had to steadied from the heels of WINGS OF TELESTO which commenced to lose ground .
FEATHER BED raced greenly in the straight.
On returning to scale it was found that L Timson (LADY FLICK) was some 500 grams under her allotted weight. It was found that all placegetters were under by a similar amount. As stewards were of the opinion that there was a fault with the scales they declared correct weight and opened an enquiry into the incident. It was found that the scales had been inadvertently moved after the runners weighed out and that they were unevenly placed on a rise in the cement. The scales were relocated to an even surface and checked for correctness. No further problem was detected.
