SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
As jockey M Cant was indisposed he was replaced as per steward’s summary sheet.
As jockey J Stephens was indisposed he was replaced as per steward’s summary sheet.
Stewards made club president Mr P Brennan aware of the barrier difficulties throughout the day who advised stewards this matter would be rectified prior to the clubs next meeting.
Race 1: CLASS B HANDICAP – 1075M.
1st – ROADSTAR 2nd – BEAT THE RUSH 3rd – TILLA GIRL 4th – SAMKAN
Stewards accepted trainer D Jefferies explanation as to why apprentice D Carrigg was a late declaration as the rider of SAMKAN.
App P Randall was replaced as the rider of TILLA GIRL by S Quick when he was unable to make the allotted weight. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice P Randall pleaded guilty to a charge under AR118A in that he removed gear when being weighed out, and sent his saddle out without a surcingle. P Randall was fined the sum of $200.00.
C Beets who was late arriving on course due to transport difficulties was replaced as the rider of MYSTERY GUN by D Whitmore.
OUTLAY (App C McIver) was slow to into stride when its barrier gate was marginally slow to open.
TILLA GIRL (S Quick) began awkwardly.
FLIP HOSE (G Booth) was inconvenienced at the start when its right side barrier gate rebounded slightly.
RUNPHIR (App L Dillon) which had a tendency to lay out raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SAMKAN (App D Carrigg) lay out for the majority of the race.
Race 2: CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1075M.
1st – DANGEROUS HOST 2nd – ST SPARTICA 3rd – HIGH RANGER 4th – CHECK THAT OUT
DANGEROUS HOST (App P Randall) began awkwardly.
Apprentice D Carrigg, the rider of ST SPARTICA dropped her whip near the 200m.
Race 3: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M.
1st – BIG ACE 2nd – CHELSEANN 3rd – FORGOTTEN TREASURE 4th – CRAIGLEA DENISE
STORMY VISION (App P Randall) was slow into stride when its barrier gate was marginally slow to open.
Approaching the 1100m STORMY VISION (App P Randall) improved onto the heels of LOUIE THE FLY and had to be steadied.
CHELSEANN (M Barnham) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 4: CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M.
1st – REAR ADMIRAL 2nd – GALLAGHER 3rd - DIFFERENTIAL 4th – LET’S RECONSIDER
At the request of M Hicks, the trainer of DOWN THE LINE, apprentice P Randall was permitted to ride DOWN THE LINE without taking advantage of any of his 2kg to claim. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice P Randall pleaded guilty to a charge under AR92(12) and fined the sum of $150.00.
LEICANAVALANCHE (S Quick) was slow into stride when its barrier gate was marginally slow to open.
IDIDIT MY WAY (G Booth) was slow to begin.
MOROCCAN BOY (L Timson) dwelt at the start losing ground.
LEICANAVALANCHE (S Quick) was tightened for room near the 150m between ENCORES AND ROSES (App C McIver) which had a tendency to lay in under pressure and PRINGLE’S GIRL (M Barnham) which shifted out under pressure. App C McIver, the rider of ENCORES AND ROSES was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. M Barnham, the rider of PRINGLE’S GIRL was reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground.
Race 5: OPEN HANDICAP – 1400M.
1st - PROTOTYPE 2nd – STRATEGIC STAR 3rd - DREAMS OF WEALTH 4th – KOALA
Due to a misunderstanding D Evans was declared as the rider of NORTHERN SPIRIT and was replaced by G Booth.
On returning to scale G Booth, the rider of NORTHERN SPIRIT, and N Mannion, the trainer of NORTHERN SPIRIT, requested to view the official race film to determine if that horse was afforded a fair start. After listening to all of the evidence and viewing the official race film, steward’s were of the opinion that while NORTHERN SPIRIT was slightly inconvenienced by the barrier gates which were marginally slow to open, NORTHERN SPIRIT was further hampered by IN COBARGO (App C McIver) which jumped in making heavy contact with that runner, stewards could not be satisfied the barrier gates could be attributed to the horses finishing position and as such NORTHERN SPIRIT was declared a runner and correct weight was posted.
IN COBARGO (App C McIver) raced wide for the majority of the race.
