SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Rockhampton Jockey Club 25th JUNE 2009
Race 2 Travelodge Rockhampton Class 1 Handicap- 1000 metres

Trainer A. Gooden reported BARRAMUNDI had suffered an injury to its off-side eye in running and had been sent for a spell.

GENERAL

App. Y Yeung Ki was reprimanded for failing to produce a letter of authority. (LR 58) He was also advised of the dress requirements appropriate at country race meetings.

Race 1: Prydes Easifeed Class 2 Handicap – 1075 metres
1st – PARDON THE PUN 2nd - CERTAIN CIRCLES 3rd - SCOTCH GREY 4th – SPRINGBOK LAD

At approximately the 800 metres, SIODEE (N. Patchett) shifted in slightly and tightened the running of SPRINGBOK LAD (A. Coome) which was racing keenly and had shifted out slightly. SPRINGBOK LAD was steadied in this incident.

ABINDAH (M. Cant) was steadied from the heels of NOTHIN’ LEICA MINTO (J. Kehoe) at approximately the 400 metres and was held up from approximately the 350 metres to the 100 metres and went to the line without being fully tested.

BIGGER THAN (App. A. Taylor) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary inspection of SPRINGBOK LAD revealed the presence of blood in the gelding’s mouth.

A post-race veterinary inspection of SIODEE revealed the mare had been galloped on behind and was lame. Trainer L. Horstman will be advised a veterinary certificate of fitness is required prior to its next race start.

Race 2: Prydes Easifeed Maiden Handicap- 1200 metres
1st - BILLY THE MOUNTAIN 2nd - PURO SANGUE 3rd - GIZA 4th – LAST LAUGH TAR

SET ME FREE was declared a late scratching at 1.12pm due to the filly being injured while being transported to the course.

Trainer D. Schultz was fined $50 for late declaration of rider for MISS GYSPY KAAT.

At the start, WANDARRI LORD (R. Hall) jumped away awkwardly.

NO SHACKLES (App. Y Yeung Ki) jumped inwards at the start, commenced to race ungenerously in the early stages and hung out from approximately the 900 metres, taking the home turn extremely wide. Stewards considered the circumstances in this incident and explanation tendered by Trainer P. Richardson and took no action.

From approximately the 1000m to approximately the 500 metres, MISS GYPSY KAAT was forced to race wide when NO SHACKLES hung out.

A post-race veterinary inspection of WANDARRI LORD which finished a distance from the field, revealed the horse to be mildly sore in the near side hock and across the hindquarters. Trainer M. Delroy was advised a warning was being placed on the horse regarding its performance and that, in the future, any issue which may have affected the performance of a horse in a race be immediately reported to Stewards. (AR 140(b))

Race 3: Jacquie Varney’s Birthday Race Open Handicap- 1200 metres
1st - FORTY EIGHT CRASH 2nd – DIGGING DEEP 3rd - LUSTING 4th – FLEET THE BONGO

Trainer J. McConachy was fined $50 for failing to amend the stable return for MOZAMBESI. (LR 42)

Trainer M. Hicks was fined $50 for late declaration of rider on UMAPRINCE (LR 70).

FORTY EIGHT CRASH ( C.Beets) was hampered on jumping when the barrier gates swung back slightly.

DIGGING DEEP (R. Kerwin) jumped awkwardly outwards and steadied away from the heels of FLYING SQUAW (App. C. Priest)

CYCLONE GEORGE (A. Coome) shifted out shortly after the start. Jockey A. Coome reported his mount was inclined to hang out throughout.

CAMPECHE (J. Kehoe) and HANDY HERO (App. A. Taylor) raced wide throughout the event.

At approximately the 400 metres, DIGGING DEEP dipped of its own accord.

FORTY EIGHT CRASH (C. Beets) shifted out under pressure in the straight.

Race 4: Patrons Class B Handicap- 1600 metres
1st – ARRIVEALIVE 2nd – TRUTHFUL 3rd – NAVAL HERO 4th – SKYBENDER

SUTTON PRINCE (M. Cant) raced wide in the early stages.

At approximately the 800 metres, LAVA MAN (App. Y Yeung Ki) over-raced and had to be steadied from the heels of SUTTON PRINCE and lost ground.

SAMANTHA’S JEWELL (R. Kirwan) raced wide throughout the event.

Race 5: Owners and Trainers Class 4 Handicap- 800 metres
1st - MIDORI LAD 2nd - INFRINGEMENT 3rd - TWINJAR 4th – GREAT MUSIC

At the start, AFTER THE FACT (D. Whitmore) jumped in.

GREAT MUSIC (App. L Dillon) jumped outwards.

TWINJAR (R. Kerwin) was slow into stride.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
