RACE 1 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1630 METRES 13 STARTERS
HOPE FLOATS over raced in the middle stages of the event and accidentally galloped on MAN ABOVE passing the 1300 metre mark. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAN ABOVE sustained no injury as a consequence.

RACE 2 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1630 METRES 9 STARTERS
CATTLE KING was slow to begin. At the 850 metre mark the pace steadied and RUFUS EM was eased off the heels of STARRY YEATS. EARLS MEMORY which was trailing also had to be steadied. At the 200 metre mark RUFUS EM was crowded for room when EARL'S MEMORY shifted out to improve. At the 180 metre mark DANCE THE HEIGHTS shifted out around the heels KOSICE to improve, resulting in CHELLE'S PRIDE being crowded, and taken out onto ROMANCER.

RACE 3 BREEDERS PLATE 2YO 1200 METRES 7 STARTERS
The race was delayed from it's advertised starting time due to the Ambulance being required to attend to a Course patron. DREAM RULER was checked at the start between DASH O'LUCK and WOODSLOT, both of which shifted ground. MR. ALFAY hung in on the first turn and contacted DREAM RULER. MR. ALFAY continued to hang in throughout running and Trainer F Wieland was advised that a warning had been issued concerning the horses racing manners.

RACE 4 WINTER CUP OPEN HCP 2100 METRES 7 STARTERS
No racing incidents.

RACE 5 CLASS 6 SET WEIGHTS 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
Jockey C Symons who reported ill after riding in race 4, was replaced on MAJESTIC COLOURS by C Whiteley.
TOGNOTTI and GIFTED GURU (NZ) collided at the start. Jockey R Moses (THE TWISTER) was found guilty of careless riding (137A) by allowing THE TWISTER to shift in approaching the 1100 metre mark taking SILENT COMEDIAN in onto MAJESTIC COLOUR which was checked. Jockey R Moses was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight 18/7/00 up to and including 23/7/00 (2 meetings.)

RACE 6 3YO HANDICAP 1400 METRES 13 STARTERS
Jockey R Moses replaced C Symons on VALETTA FLYER.
OCCUR jumped out abruptly and as a consequence ESPECIALE, PA MAGIC, MARTIAL AIR, VALETTA FLYER, CREDIT RISK and BANSEL were all checked as a result. Stewards deemed that Jockey GD Kliese had made every effort to straighten OCCUR. At the 600 metre mark CANADIAN GOLD which was held up for a clear run had to be checked off the heels of CREDIT RISK. CANADIAN GOLD again had to be checked off the heels of CREDIT RISK at the 500 metres and blundered momentarily.

RACE 7 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 11 STARTER
Jockey P Cullen replaced C Symons on SALTASH CASTLE.
MISS BONNIE CAN jumped in onto PALOOKA. PRINCE JACOB jumped in at the start and made contact with BOLD PLAY. The saddle of ROMBERG slipped passing the 800 metre mark, placing Jockey J Cairns at a severe disadvantage throughout the event. At the 600 metre mark BOLD PLAY shifted out forcing SALTASH CASTLE wider on the track and as a consequence ROSENEATH JESTER had to be steadied off the heels of SALTASH CASTLE. Passing the 100 metre mark ELROND was hampered when LAGER BAY shifted in under riding. Jockey Ms D Andrews (LAGER BAY) was reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten her mount in simular circumstances.



RACE 8 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 15 STARTERS
When the start was effected, KING'S CARREL jumped in hampering BOYER and DYNAMIC PROFIT. KING'S CARREL, which was racing greenly, then shifted out shortly after the start.. At an Inquiry, Jockey K Mahoney (WHERE'S JOHN) was found guilty of careless riding (137A) by allowing WHERE'S JOHN to shift in approaching the 1100 metre mark, resulting in ALBITIOUS being taken in onto MADAME'S NEDIYM which was checked. Jockey K Mahoney was suspended from riding in races to commence midnight the 15/7/00 up to and including the 23/7/00 (2 meetings). At the 1000 metre mark, BOYER which had been racing greenly was checked across the heels of ARGOLD which shifted in momentarily after being taken in by UNRESTRAIN. Jockey B Somerville (UNRESTRAIN) was advised to exercise care in simular circumstances. Stewards accepted the explanation of Jockey GD Kliese that the racing characteristic had contributed to this incident. It was noted that PRIMA MODEL was unable to improve after passing the 600 metre mark. After passing the 200 metre mark PRIMA MODEL was again held up for clear running and when attempting a narrow run between UNRESTRAIN and DYNAMIC PROFIT, PRIMA MODEL shifted out and collided with the hind quarters of DYNAMIC PRIFIT. Both F Edwards the rider (PRIMA MODEL) and W Somerville were advised to exercise care. Over the concluding stages ARGOLD shifted in under riding hampering ALBITIOUS. P Cullen (ARGOLD) was advised to exercise care.
