RACE 1 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 METRES 7 STARTERS
ST. HENRI raced greenly throughout the event. Trainer B Baker was advised that a warning had been issued concerning ST. HENRI’s racing manners. TRAIN WEST raced greenly in the straight. ST HENRI was inspected by the club veterinary surgeon who reported no abnormalities.

RACE 2 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 5 STARTERS
BE EARLY was a late scratching at 8:35am. Trainer P D’Addona will be interviewed at a time and date to be fixed in relation to this matter. Jockey F Edwards (BRILLIANT SPY) was replaced by D Sewell. Jockey F Edwards was fined $50 for failing to fill his engagement on BRILLIANT SPY. AR85(b). BRILLIANT SPY blundered as the gates opened.

RACE 3 CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 7 STARTERS
A post race veterinary examination of SETO GAMUSHARA reported that the horse was showing signs of soreness in the off foreleg.

RACE 4 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1630 METRES 9 STARTERS
GRAND SALIERI was checked when racing to the inside of BELLESHANI approaching the 1000 metres. Jockey I Coombes (BELLESHANI) reported that as BELLESHANI was over racing he was forced to obtain another grip on the gelding and that BELLESHANI had shifted in abruptly onto GRAND SALIERI. After viewing the official film the stewards accepted the explanation offered by Jockey I Coombes and took no further action. ROYAL AMBER returned to scale with a small laceration on the near side stifle

RACE 5 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 13 STARTERS
CANADIAN TIME was a late scratching at 3:50pm when the colt refused to be loaded. Trainer G O’Dea was advised that a minimum of two(2) satisfactory barrier tests would have to be passed before CANADIAN TIME will be permitted to race again. QUITE FRANKLY was fractious in the barriers. WONGA’S WAY and BRAND NEW were both slow to begin. At the 600 metres MONDRIAN and TOOK A WHILE were crowded for room when crossed by KEPPEL LAIR. Jockey J Ramsden (KEPPEL LAIR) was reprimanded and advised to be two(2) lengths clear when crossing in future. THOSE PRETTY EYES made the home turn awkwardly forcing OUR ZENA wider on the track. Over the concluding stages TOOK A WHILE shifted in under riding and made contact with I’M A FIRESTARTER.

RACE 6 CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 7 STARTERS
RUFUS EM and ROAD DANCER were slow to begin. At the 900metres RUFUS EM which was over racing had to be steadied off the heels of SAYS WHO.

GENERAL: Trainer M Preston was interviewed in relation to KEPPEL LAIR being presented to race in blinkers on the 24th March 2001 at Townsville.Trainer Preston was advised of her obligations in relation to the notification of gear on the stable return.
