RACE 1 3YO CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 5 STARTERS
OSCA ERIC, after being slow to begin, shifted in shortly after the start and brushed the hind quarters of ANELLO and blundered.
RACE 2 CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 6 STARTERS
No Racing Incidents. A post race veterinary examination of PINBALL PADDY revealed the colt to be suffering a laceration on the near fore heel.
RACE 3 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES 6 STARTERS
After being slow to begin, BOOM OR BUST shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of SKYSCRAPER.
RACE 4 CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 METRES 9 STARTERS
Trainer S McLellan was reprimand for presenting ROMANTIC JEWEL to the enclosure without the nominated gear LR 42.
RACE 5 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
PRINCETON was inspected by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to start. Jockey J Cairns and Trainer G O'Dea were questioned regarding the disappointing performance of CANADIAN BEAUTY. Jockey Cairns advised that CANADIAN BEAUTY had commenced to lug out from the 1000 metres onwards and was never travelling kindly. Trainer G O'Dea was at a loss to explain the poor performance and a Veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. CANADIAN BEAUTY was sent to be swabbed.
RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
An Inquiry was held into the reason for SOAP KING shifting in abruptly at the 350 mark resulting SEA ROYAL (J Long) being checked. A Veterinary examination of SOAP KING revealed the Gelding to be lame in the near fore. Under the circumstances Stewards took no further action.
RACE 7 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 METRES 10 STARTERS
LAKE DISTRICT was slow to begin. Approaching the 900 metres, LAKE DISTRICT had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room by READY RED which shifted in. Jockey M Deguara was advised to exercise care.
At the 150 metres COWBOY BILL was tightened for room between WISE SPIRIT and READY RED both of which shifted ground. Jockey M Deguara and R Gallacher (WISE SPIRIT) were advised to keep their mounts straight in similar circumstances.
All winners were sent to be swabbed.
