TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 7/12/02
STEWARDS PANEL: W BETHEL (Chairman), M BRAUNBERGER, R SMITH
WEATHER – FINE TRACK:- FAST RAIL – Out 3 metres
RACE 1:.CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
Near the 850 mete mark TOOBANNA was checked to avoid the heels of MR. SLATE which shifted in when not clear. Jockey P Cullen was charged and found Guilty of Careless Riding, under terms AR 137 (a), for allowing MR. SLATE to shift in when not clear of TOOBANNA and subsequently suspended from riding in races from midnight 12th December 2002 up to and including 20th December 2002 (2 meetings). Jockey P Cullen pleaded Not Guilty to the charge.
RACE 2: OPEN HANDICAP – 1200 Metres
CINNAMON COVE was disappointed for a clear run near the 250 metre mark.
An objection was lodged by S Simon, the rider of TURNPIKE against the third placed horse CINNAMON COVE, for alleged interference over the concluding stages. Deliberating on submissions and Stewards observations, the Protest was dismissed and Jockey S Simon was informed that in the opinion of Stewards, his objection was almost frivolous.
RACE 3: CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1000 Metres
GIGABYTE BITE and HANDS AND HEELS came together at the start. ADHUPAK shifted out just after the start and momentarily hampered EL WAH. ADNUPAK continued to lay outward throughout. Trainer J Maconachie was advised to take corrective measures and Jockey F Edwards was made aware of his responsibility to endeavour to prevent his mount from shifting ground.
RACE 4: MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1630 Metres
The slow pace set by ERRATUM in the early and middle stages of the race resulted in SWAMPEM, PRIMA DOLLA, and SOLEMEIO having difficulty avoiding heels. BOLD TACTICS, after racing on the inside throughout, was unable to obtain a clear run and was obliged to switch across the heels towards the outside.
RACE 5: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres
MOUNTAIN AIR shifted out abruptly after the start resulting in MIGHTY CREATION having to check and lose ground. MOUNTAIN AIR then had difficulty in obtaining a clear run after straightening and shifted in sharply near the winning post. Trainer R Tydman was advised to take corrective measures. J Cairns, the rider of FOREST PRIDE, returned to scale distressed due to a medical condition and was unable to fulfil his engagement in the following race. Jockey J Cairns to obtain a Medical Clearance before riding.
RACE 6: CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1300 Metres
P Cullen replaced J Cairns as the rider of LUBERTUS.
DAYLIGHT LOVER was unsettled in the boxes and when the start was effected, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Apprentice T Maeda was reprimanded for allowing PRINCESS RAINE to shift when attempting to avoid heels resulting in MUSTAWAY having to be checked and lose ground.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
