WEATHER – FINE TRACK: - GOOD RAIL –Out 4 metres from 1600 to 1000, 6 metres from 1000 to 400, 5 metres in Straight.

GENERAL:
Stewards today charged Trainer John Barr with a breach of ARR 53A – 2 in that he did fail to report to the Stewards that a horse which he trains, WESTERN DOWNS, had bled from both nostrils during the running of Race 3 at the Charters Towers Amateur Race Club’s race meeting on Saturday 18th October 2003. Mr Barr was found Guilty of the charge laid against him and subsequently his Licence was suspended for a period of one (1) calendar month to commence on 25/10/03 up to and including the 25/11/03.

As Jockey A Molino was indisposed, Stewards permitted the following changes:
Race 2: GODS WORD K Mahoney
Race 3: IRGUN COWBOY J Felix
Race 5 LOCHRAE PRINCESS F Edwards

RACE 1: CLASS 6 PLATE – Abt 1200 Metres – 6 Starters
RANGEHILL (P D’Addona) was slow away and raced uncompetitively throughout

RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP – Abt 1200 Metres – 8 Starters
Jockey S Simons, the rider of FRODO BAGGINS was advised to show more care after his mount shifted ground at the 250 metre mark.

RACE 3: MAIDEN HANDICAP – Abt 1400 Metres – 6 Starters
BELLA GRACE (W Kenning) over raced in the early to middle stages of the event.

RACE 4: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – Abt 1630 Metres – 10 Starters
COMEDY PRINCE (I Toward) stood flat-footed and refused to jump as the start was effected. Trainer J Ryan was advised that the horse is now barred from racing until such time as it can successfully complete two (2) Barrier Tests in front of Stewards.

RACE 5:- CLASS 1 HANDICAP – Abt 1000 Metres – 9 Starters
As Jockey R Mules failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time, Stewards permitted the replacement rider for TAY EXPRESS to be Jockey S Simon.
Jockey I Toward was severely admonished for permitting his mount YONG CHEE to shift in at approximately the 700 metre mark and cause a hampering to SHOWCASE (K Mahoney). Jockey Toward was advised by the Stewards that his style of riding would no longer be tolerated by the Stewards and that a tougher approach would be taken on Jockey Toward should he continue to ride in such a manner. CYBER STAR was slow to begin and disappointed for a run on numerous occasions throughout the race. Jockey J Long the rider of GUINN was advised to show more care after his mount shifted ground at approximately the 150 metre mark and inconvenienced TAY EXPRESS (S Simon).

RACE 6: CLASS 4 HANDICAP – Abt 1300 Metres – 6 Starters
