RACE 1: Class 6 Plate - About 1400 Metres – 6 Starters
I’M A WARRIOR (I Toward) was slow to begin. Approaching the 900 metres CARAT OF GOLD (J Stopps) broke down in the near fore sesamoid. CAREFUL LOVE (G Michaels) which was following had to be severely checked to avoid that horses heels.
CARAT OF GOLD was euthanased on humane grounds.
RACE 2: Maiden Handicap - About 1630 Metres – 8 Starters
REVERSION GLORY (J Long) was slow to begin. Approaching the 700 metres PET ROCK (R Mules) improved to the inside of REVERSION GLORY (J Long) where there was doubtful room and had to be steadied. Stable representative for A Hobson, Mr R Cousins was advised that REVERSION GLORY which compounded badly from the 600 metres to finish a distant last would be barred from TAB racing until it establishes country form.
RACE 3: Class 3 Handicap – About 1200 Metres – 6 Starters
KILLIAN (D Andrews) began awkwardly. GENTILIC BELLE (R Ryan) over raced in the early stages of the event. Leaving the 200 metres GENTILIC BELLE (R Ryan) shifted in tightening the running of KNOCKBACK (I Toward).
RACE 4: Weight For Age – About 1200 Metres – 8 Starters
TURNPIKE (P Hammersley) was unable to obtain clear running for the entire length of the straight.
RACE 5:,Two Years Old Colts & Geldings Maiden HCP – About 1000 Metres – 7 Starters
RELATIVE TIME (P Hammersley) and SIR DEMON (J Long) made contact leaving the 200 metres. GENERAL JAKE (C SPRY) shifted out under pressure in the straight. NORTHERN COMMANDER (S Kavanagh) raced greenly throughout the event.
RACE 6: Two Years Old Fillies Maiden HCP – About 1000 Metres - 12 Starters
POWER OF NOW (D Crossland) reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. O Chellemi trainer of POWER OF NOW was advised a warning would be placed on the filly in regard to its barrier manners. BLANKET SHOW (R Hall) commenced to hang out severely leaving the 800 metres taking MISS WONDERLI (J Stanley) wider on the track. BLANKET SHOW (R Hall) continued to hang out for the remainder of the event. G Nelson trainer of BLANKET SHOW was advised the filly must compete in an official barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
RACE 7: Class 4 Handicap – About 1400 Metres – 9 Starters
As L Abbott was indisposed she was replaced on STAR PIPPA by P D’Addona. MISS TUI (L Buckingham) was slow to begin. SIT HERE DEAR (A Best) hung out in the middle stages of the event.
RACE 8: Class 1 Handicap – About 1400 Metres – 9 Starters
FRISKY SPRINGS was declared a late scratching at 4.40pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice that that horse was injured on the way to the starting stalls. BALINAQ (J Stanley) and RUPTURED (C Spry) made contact on jumping away. MISS FORTUNATE (R Mules) was unable to obtain clear running for the entire length of the straight. On declaration of correct weight all monies invested on FRISKY SPRINGS were ordered to be refunded and deductions of 13 cents on the win value of the ticket and 12 cents on the place value of the ticket applied.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
