TOWNSVILLE TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT FRIDAY 14/11/03
STEWARDS PANEL: P COOPER (CHAIRMAN) W BIRCH, WJ BETHEL, R SMITH
WEATHER –FINE TRACK:- GOOD RAIL –TRUE
RACE 1:2 YO MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1000 Metres – 10 Starters
TINY TITAN (M Elliott) bucked soon after the start. Trainer Ron Krogh was advised by the Stewards that the horse is now barred until such a time as it can successfully complete an official Barrier Trial. As the start was effected QUICK TALLY (R Hall) and TINY TITAN (M Elliott) made contact. It was reported by Justin Stanley, the rider of MOLLY BE GOOD, that is horse was inclined to hang out from approximately the 800 metre mark to the home turn.
RACE 2: MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1300 Metres – 16 Starters
BELLA’S DIAMOND (K Mahoney) hung outwards from the 900 metre mark until straightening. GOLD AND FAME (B Appo) shifted in abruptly at the 150 metre mark under hard riding. During the preliminary of the event Jockey R Bellett was dislodged from his mount MOVE EASY. Jockey Bellett was cleared by the Ambulance Officials and MOVE EASY was passed fit to start by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon. Both horse and rider took their rightful place with the field. Upon straightening MOVE EASY (R Bellett) shifted ground marginally, at the same time SCARVILLE (J Stopps) shifted inwards marginally and this resulted in COSMO DRAGON (I Toward) who was travelling between the two horses, to be marginally hampered for racing room.
RACE 3: QUALITY HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 9 Starters
PASSER PASSION (B Appo) hung out from the 800 to the concluding stages of the event. Jockey I Toward, the rider of MONARBER and P Cullen the rider of OVERSEAS, were both advised to show more care after allowing their mounts to shift ground at approximately the home turn. This resulted in MISTER MO (M Elliott) having to be steadied.
RACE 4: CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1400 Metres – 14 Starters
No Racing incidents.
RACE 5: CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres – 11 Starters
LOVE LESSONS (J Stopps) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected. KELSO REEF (App L Abbott) was restrained at approximately the 250 metre mark as the Jockey attempted to obtain clear running to the outside.
RACE 6: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (Div 1) – 1200 Metres – 11 Starters
BLUE MISSILE (J Stopps) was slow into stride and raced ungenerously in the early stages. TESORA MIA (F Edwards) jumped away awkwardly as the start was effected.
RACE 7: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (Div 2) – 1200 Metres – 10 Starters
WISE LAD returned to the Enclosure with the presence of blood in both nostrils. Accordingly the horse was banned from racing for a period of three (3) months under the terms of AR53 A. Trainer Robert Rix was advised of the embargo which had been placed on WISE LAD.
RACE 8: CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1200 Metres – 11 Starters
MAGIC HOLIDAY (D Simmons) raced ungenerously for a number of strides at approximately the 250 metre mark. BELISSA (D Crossland) jumped away awkwardly at the start.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
