After taking evidence from Mr Schofield, stewards charged him with a breach of A. R. 175(p) in that he disobeyed the stewards’ direction to furnish a veterinary clearance for STAR OF PEGASUS. Mr Schofield pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined $200.

Race 1: Cowboys Supporters Team Maiden Handicap – 1000 metres
1st - CHIEF CHERON 2nd – HEY CHEETAH 3rd – COMMISAR DANILOV 4th – BARRAMUNDI TOM

CHIEF CHERON (D. Crossland) began awkwardly.

MISS SPRINGVALE (G. Baker) was slow to begin.

From the home turn to the winning post COMMISAR DANILOV was inclined to lay out.

At about the 200 metres KNOWLEDGEABLE GIRL (G. Cullen) shifted in, resulting in BARRAMUNDI TOM (A. Cox) having to shift out across its heels to obtain clear running.

Race 2: Tickets Online Class 1 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - MOTIVATED 2nd – ROY’S JOY 3rd – GODWIT 4th – WHAT’S YOUR ANGLE

On jumping MOTIVATED (D. Crossland) shifted out and bumped ROY’S JOY (G. Baker).

GODWIT (I. Fry) and NUCLEAR DRAMA (C. Eaton) came together at the start.

NUCLEAR DRAMA (C. Eaton) bled from both nostrils during running. Trainer Mr J. Robbins was advised that as this was the first occasion on which the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack, NUCLEAR DRAMA was barred from racing for three months under A.R. 53A.

In the early stages SHEDIR (G. Cullen) over-raced and on several occasions rounding the turn at the 800 metres had to be steadied off the heels of TURN (I. Fry). A post-race veterinary examination of SHEDIR revealed that the gelding had blood in its mouth resulting from an injury to a tooth.

At about the 200 metres RED LIGHT BANDIT (G. Baker) was inclined to lay in and when corrected raced ungenerously for some distance. As a consequence, TURN (I. Fry), which was travelling to the inside of RED LIGHT BANDIT, was inconvenienced.

At about the 250 metres CHIEF RED FEATHER (G. Cullen) proceeded into a narrow run and made contact with POWER LINES (S. Watkin) on a number of occasions, placing Jockey S. Watkin in difficulty in fully testing his mount.

At the 200 metres SIGRID (J. Long) shifted in abruptly.

Following the race the Club’s veterinary surgeon reported that LAMBOURN JEWEL (F. Edwards) had bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr A. Molino was advised that, as this was the first time the horse had suffered a bleeding attack, it was barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A.

In the early and middle stages FORSAKEN LIFESTYLE (S. Watkin) raced wide.
