Trainer’s representative Mr B. Williams was advised that the horse must obtain a barrier certificate and also trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before being permitted to race again.

LUCYDANE (D. Andrews) began awkwardly.

On jumping FRANGELA (P. Cullen) and DISNA (J. Stopps) were tightened for room between SILVERY BELL (G. Kliese) and UPTOWN BELLE (G. Cullen), both of which shifted ground.

BEAU REGIS (P. Cullen), SUN YETSEN (G. Kliese) and DIAMOND PURSUIT (J. Babarovich) raced wide throughout.

When questioned about the performance of SUN YATSEN, in particular as to why the horse got further back than was its normal racing pattern, Jockey G. Kliese said that the horse could not muster early pace and he elected to settle back in the field rather than race wide. He added, however, SUN YATSEN did not travel well in the early stages, but in his opinion the gelding finished the race off well.
