Clerk of Scales – M. Taaffe
Judge – P McLeod
Veterinarian – B. Potts
Swab Attendant – C. Wallis

Race 1: Buss (Q) 25 Years Strong Class 6 Handicap – 1400 metres
1st – Diamond Pursuit 2nd – All Our Troubles 3rd – Rontgen 4th – Flypass

Near the 600m RONTGEN (J. Felix) became awkward of its own accord for a short distance. DIAMOND PURSUIT (J. Babarovich) which was following was consequently inconvenienced.

Near the 200m RONTGEN attempted a narrow run to the inside of ALL OUR TROUBLES (F. Edwards) and in doing so made contact with the hindquarters of ALL OUR TROUBLES. RONTGEN then had to be steadied and was obliged to ease out across the heels of ALL OUR TROUBLES in an effort to obtain clear running.

Race 2: Buss (Q) Superannuation For The Construction Industry Class 1 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – Like A God 2nd – Bootifulittlesing 3rd – Harley John 4th – Ruleire

J. Felix replaced P. Cullen as the rider of BOOTIFULITTLESING when Jockey Cullen was ineligible to ride due to suspension.

D. Andrews was declared as the rider of MOLONGLE. The explanation for the late declaration of rider tendered by trainer C. Williams was accepted.

Trainer J. Russell was reprimanded under the provisions of AR 124 for the late presentation of LIKE A GOD to the saddling enclosure.

MOLONGLE (D. Andrews) was declared a late scratching on the advice of the veterinary surgeon at 2:30pm when it dislodged Jockey Andrews en route to the barriers and galloped a lap of the course. Upon the declaration of correct weight deductions of 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets were declared.

LIKE A GOD (F. Edwards) began awkwardly and over-raced in the middle stages.

Near the 300m RULEIRE (J. Babarovich) was disappointed for a run to the inside of MASTER TRADER (A. Merritt) and was held up for a short distance.

Race 3: Build’n Kits Class 3 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – Voodoo Bay Magic 2nd – Elsquare 3rd – Go Chloe 4th – Elshamah

SILVERY BELL (J. Babarovich) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Master Builders Class 3 Plate - 1630 metres
1st – Super Zero 2nd – Character Assassin 3rd – Blue Bom Square 4th – Shining Charm

J. Long was declared as the rider of CARBINCONI. The explanation tendered by trainer D. Murphy for the late declaration of rider was accepted.

BLUE BOM SQUARE (J. Felix), CHARACTER ASSASIN (F. Edwards) and CARBINCONI (J. Long) all over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Near the 1400m BLUE BOM SQUARE improved onto the heels of CARBINCONI and had to be steadied when CARBINCONI slowed the pace.

Near the 1100m CARBINCONI improved onto the heels of CHARACTER ASSASSIN and had to be steadied when CHARACTER ASSASSIN slowed the pace.

When questioned as to the tactics adopted on BLUE BOM SQUARE, Jockey J. Felix advised that he had been instructed to take up a forward position just off the pace and was able to obtain a position behind the leader in the early stages. However, near the 1400m the leader slowed the pace measurably at which point BLUE BOM SQUARE began to over-race. Jockey Felix stated that he was unable to shift out to improve at this point as CHARACTER ASSASSIN and then SUPER ZERO (J. Babarovich) improved to his outside and as a consequence he was forced to race in a reward position during the middle stages of the race. Jockey Felix further explained that he placed BLUE BOM SQUARE under pressure near the 500m at which point the mare only responded fairly and that in the early parts of the straight BLUE BOM SQUARE was reluctant to take a run between SHINING CHARM (A. Merritt) and CARBINCONI. However, when BLUE BOM SQUARE did proceed into that run near the 200m it found the line well. His explanation was noted.

Trainer D. Murphy reported that CARBANCONI was galloped on, on both hind legs

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
