Race 1: - SKY Racing QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – HOTEL PARADISO 2nd – HE’S A LADIES MAN 3rd – DAZZLE ON 4th – DAZZLUNA

MARK ME OLEE (App. E. Ljung) was slow to begin.

At the start ZAHMATA OF HONOUR (F. Edwards) was tightened for room between DAZZLE ON (D. Missen) and HOTEL PARADISO (App. S. Egan), which shifted in.

Shortly after the start MAINSHAFT (D. Hayse) improved up onto the heels of DAZZLUNA (W. D’Avila) and had to be eased.

Rounding the home turn DAZZLE ON (D. Missen) shifted in marginally and made contact with DAZZLUNA (W. D’Avila).

Race 2: - www.townsvilleturfclub.com.au Maiden Plate – 1400 Metres
1st – UNREAL 2nd - HAPPY JONES 3rd – EVE’S LEGEND 4th – LITTLE ELLIOT

PEPPER TREE (App. B. Swaffer), which began awkwardly, shifted in and was further hampered at the start when it made contact with UPMARKET (D. Simmons).

DELAGO DECOY (M. Elliott) hung out for a short distance rounding the first turn and over-raced, then continued to race ungenerously in the middle stages.

Stewards questioned Jockey D. Hayse in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of LITTLE ELLIOT. Jockey Hayse advised that after beginning well he restrained the gelding to obtain a position just off the pace, in compliance with his pre-race instructions. Jockey Hayse added that LITTLE ELLIOT travelled well until near the 300 metres, however when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer Mr G. Dickson was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance of LITTLE ELLIOT, however he said that the gelding sweated up badly in the enclosure and may have been affected by the hot weather conditions. Mr Dickson informed stewards that he intended to give the gelding a freshen-up prior to its next race start and undertook to advise stewards should anything be amiss with the horse in the days following the event.

Jockey D. Hayse, the rider of LITTLE ELLIOT, was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out right to the finish.

When questioned as to the seemingly improved performance of UNREAL (D. Missen), trainer Ms J. Russell stated that she had expected a forward showing by the gelding today, as it was racing against a weaker class of horse than at its most recent starts. Ms Russell added that it was now her intention to nominate UNREAL for races over longer distances than today’s event.

Race 3: Join the TTC 100 Club Today Class 5 Handicap – 1200m metres
1st – FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS 2nd – MEREDITH 3rd – STARLISTIC 4th – SURE DIVERSION

On jumping RIVIERA QUEEN (D. Hayse) was tightened for room between FASTER BUSTER (C. Whiteley) and DAILIKA (App. J. Kuskopf), both of which shifted ground.

At the start BARELY AN ANGEL (A. Dykes) lost ground when tightened for room between MEREDITH (App. B. Swaffer) and STARLISTIC (App. B. Floyd)), which began awkwardly and shifted out.

Shortly after the start the saddle on DAILIKA (App. J. Kuskopf) shifted to the off side, placing App. Kuskopf at an extreme disadvantage for the remainder of the event, and consequently the horse was unable to be fully tested.

Jockey A. Dykes, the rider of BARELY AN ANGEL, was reprimanded under A.R. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on the gelding on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres.

Race 4: – Tradies Race Day Sat 20 April Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1630 metres
1st – VALERA 2nd – SARBI 3rd – CRACK A SMILE 4th – BARAMUL BULLET

Near the 1400 metres SARBI (T. Bannon) was tightened for room and forced to check when racing between BARAMUL BULLET (App. E. Ljung), which shifted out marginally after racing ungenerously with its head in the air for a short distance, and SECRET ORDERS (S. Pawsey), which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey Pawsey was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

At the 800 metres BARAMUL BULLET (App. E. Ljung) improved onto the heels of KEEN ON YOU (App. B. Swaffer) whilst over-racing and was forced to steady.

Near the 400 metres KAARMA (App. J. Kuskopf) improved into a narrow run to the inside of CRACK A SMILE (C. Whiteley) and raced in restricted room before being eased when CRACK A SMILE shifted in and away from MOHTASHEM (D. Missen).

Upon returning to scale Jockey C. Whiteley reported to the stewards that CRACK A SMILE had a tendency to hang out during the middle stages of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination of GRIMHILD’S REVENGE (W. D’Avila), which performed below expectations, revealed that the mare had tied up. Stewards will interview trainer Mr R. Chillemi at a date to be fixed.

Following the race trainer R. Snelling reported that KAARMA (App. J. Kuskopf) lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 5: – XXXX Gold Open Handicap – 1300 metres
1st – CANHEDANCE 2nd – DOYADEAL 3rd – BALUSTRADE 4th – RONTGEN

From the 500 metres until the early part of the home straight DOYADEAL (App. B. Swaffer) was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

Race 6: – SKY Racing TV Class 2 Handicap – 1200 metres
1st – KING AMONG KINGS 2nd – STAUNCH NORTH 3rd – STROM THE RHYTHM 4th – SOLIDIFY

SOLIDIFY (I. Toward) began awkwardly.

COLOURADO (W. D’Avila), which raced wide for the majority of the event, over-raced in the early and middle stages.

In the early part of the home straight STAUNCH NORTH (M. Elliott) was held up and unable to gain clear running.

Near the 50 metres STROM THE RHYTHM (D. Hayse) was disappointed for a run between SOLIDIFY (I. Toward) and KING AMONG KINGS (F. Edwards), both of which shifted ground marginally, and was forced to shift to the outside to improve.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED and pre-race samples were taken from LITTLE ELLIOT, FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS, MOHTASHEM, CRACK A SMILE and PEMBERTON
