Race 1: - 106.3 Running on Air QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – FOUR JAYS 2nd - DRAGON SIGN 3rd – WATCH THE RED 4th – WISHFUL
The start was delayed when WISHFUL (App. S. Wiseman) was fractious in the barriers and dislodged App. Wiseman and the horse’s bridle.
WATCH THE RED (App. M. McGillivray) began awkwardly.
Shortly after the start HOTEL PARADISO (A. Spinks) was hampered when racing tight between WATCH THE RED and ALFREEZO (S. Wilson), which shifted out.
Soon after the start WATCH THE RED shifted out and bumped CRAIGLEA MIDGET (T. O’Hara).
Joining the course proper, near the 800 metres, ALFREEZO had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of HOTEL PARADISO. A short distance later CHATEAU DETTORI (App. B. Swaffer) had to be checked when racing tight to the inside of HOTEL PARADISO, which continued to shift in despite the efforts of its rider. ALFREEZO, which was following, was also hampered as a consequence.
Leaving the 800 metres WATCH THE RED, which was racing keenly, shifted out marginally and bumped CRAIGLEA MIDGET, which blundered and was taken out onto WISHFUL, which was racing in restricted room to the inside of FOUR JAYS (F. Edwards).
Over the concluding stages FOUR JAYS was inclined to lay in and proved difficult to ride out to the finish.
EREBUS (S. Pawsey) and WISHFUL raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HOTEL PARADISO, Jockey A. Spinks explained that in the early stages the gelding was inclined to lay in and after obtaining a position close to the running rail near the 700 metres HOTEL PARADISO failed to travel throughout and rounding the home turn he was of the opinion that the gelding may have gone amiss and for that reason he desisted from riding his mount out for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer W. Kenning expressed his disappointment with the performance and undertook to report to the stewards if anything was amiss in the days following the event. Nevertheless, Mr Kenning was advised that the gelding must perform competitively in a trial before being permitted to race again.
Race 2: - The Coffee Club Class 1 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – DIURNAL TIGER 2nd – FLUKES 3rd - THE RUSTLA 4th – BUCKANARA

DANCING HUSSAR (D. Evans) began awkwardly and lost ground.
LIVINGSTON (S. Pawsey) was slow to begin.
FLUKES (App. S. Wiseman) and MOLONGLE DASH (T. Bannon) bumped on jumping.

STOP CRYING (T. O’Hara) began awkwardly.
In the early and middle stages WEATHERVANE (T. Bannon) pulled hard.
Approaching the 1400 metres BAQABA (D. Hayse) had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of JETSCAPE (D. Evans).

PERFECT KNOWLEDGE (T. O’Hara) was slow to begin.
RISE TO THE TOP (S. Pawsey) began awkwardly with its head up.
Shortly after straightening for home MAL’S PRIDE (F. Edwards) was momentarily crowded between RISE TO THE TOP and DAMKY (C. Whiteley), both of which shifted ground.
Rounding the home turn FAST ‘N’ SHARP (S. Wilson) was held up and unable to gain clear running.
PERFECT KNOWLEDGE laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Over the concluding stages ROC’ DA FLOOR (D. Evans) was inclined to lay out.
After riding LOUDON in this race Jockey G. Watson reported that he had injured his right wrist. Jockey Watson was examined by the Ambulance officers and cleared to fulfil his further engagements.

WHATANEXCUSE (App. S. Wiseman) began awkwardly.
Rounding the home turn, near the 400 metres, BURT shifted in and bumped KANDEE QUEEN (N. Evans), resulting in both runners becoming momentarily unbalanced.

Throughout the early stages SHADOW LINE (S. Wilson) over-raced and refused to setle.
Passing the 600 metres A FINE DROP OF RED (D. Evans) improved onto the heels of STARLISTIC (App. S. Wiseman) and had to be steadied.
SPRING ROSE (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.
For some distance in the early part of the straight STARLISTIC (App. S. Wiseman) was held up and unable to obtain clear running until leaving the 200 metres.
Race 7: - Pat Molloy Jewellers BenchMark 79 Handicap – 1000 metres
1st – BARACHELLO 2nd – FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS 3rd – ORIENTELLE 4th – CANHEDANCE
FUNDIDO was injured when it became cast in the tie-up stalls. Acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was not fit to take its place in the field, stewards ordered the withdrawal of FUNDIDO at 3.47 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on FUNDIDO be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply:
0¢ in the dollar for the win for BARACHELLO
4¢ in the dollar for the place for BARACHELLO
7¢ in the dollar for the place for second, FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS
13¢ in the dollar for the place for third, ORIENTELLE
Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to FUNDIDO being permitted to race again.
Stewards considered an objection lodged by App. M. McGillivray, the rider of FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS which finished second, against BARACHELLO (C. Whiteley) being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official video films, and acting on their own observations, stewards found that passing the 50 metres BARACHELLO shifted out towards FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS which was momentarily hampered. Bearing in mind the minor nature of any interference suffered by FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS, the margin of a head between the two runners at the finish, the manner in which both horses ran to the finish and the proximity of the interference to the winning post, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the interference not occurred FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS would not have been BARACHELLO, stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was declared and the placings ordered to stand.
Shortly after straightening for home FAST ‘N’ FEROCIOUS was steadied when disappointed for a narrow run between BARACHELLO and STIEG (S. Pawsey).
