STEWARDS : Mr W.Booshand, Mr A.Jones, Ms P.Reardon




RACE ONE : Jockey K. Waller was fined $50 for failing to arrive on course by the appointed time, and was replaced as the rider of PEACEFUL PETE by Jockey A. Stewart. KRYSTAL OF BOYLAND (A. Raby) jumped away awkwardly as the gates opened. PEACEFUL PETE (A. Stewart) jumped outwards and raced greenly. DUSTY CHIEF (A. Erhart) was slow into stride and raced ungenerously throughout the event. ACHIMEDES (B. Appo) was slow into stride and hung out from the 800m mark to approximately the 600m mark. FAMIL SQUARE (G. Geran) raced keenly, and was unable to secure a clear passage and at approximately the 350m when PRETTY CLEAR (A. Gillett) rolled inwards, Jockey Gillett was reminded of the Stewards requirements. SAM’S A NUISANCE (G. Lynch) was slow to jump and raced ungenerously, and at approximately the 750m eased from the heels of FAMIL SQUARE. DUSTY CHIEF laid in under pressure down the running thereby hampering PRETTY CLEAR.
Time off : 4.07 p.m.

RACE TWO : GOLD HEART (G. Lynch) inspected by the clubs' Veterinary officer prior to the start and was passed to take its place in the field. PRINCESS QUOZ (K. Goodyear) was restless in the barriers prior to the start being effected. VICE ANGLAIS (K. Waller), ROCKIN’ HALO (M. Aspinall) and PRINCESS QUOZ all jumped awkwardly. OPERA LANCE (B. Appo) was slow into stride. Both SIR REDMAN (M. Sharpley) and BAY DUKE (G. Geran) dwelt and lost ground when the gates opened. At approximately the 650m mark BUCCINI (A. Stewart) raced with its head in the air and was inclined to hang out. BAY DUKE raced greenly and at approximately the 750m mark, eased from the heels of VICE ANGLAIS. BAY DUKE hung in down the straight and hampered the running of ROCKIN’ HALO. Jockey Geran was advised to show more care in the future.
Time off: 4.48 p.m.

RACE THREE : When the gates opened SKARLOEY (B. Appo) jumped outwards onto AULD HAT (K. Waller) who came into heavy contact with HELLIE MISSED (M. Aspinall) and at the same time DAANDINE JEWEL (S. Killen) jumped in onto STRONG PRINCIPLES (A. Gillett) who came into contact with HELLIE MISSED who became unbalanced through the incident and lost ground. At approximately the 800m mark SON OF COCO (G. Geran) took hold to avoid the heels of DISTINCTLY (M. Dorrington). Jockey Dorrington was advised to take more care in the future. ANOTHER JAZZY (D. Green) dipped at approximately the 500m mark, and was momentarily held up for a clear run approaching the home turn. SKARLOEY (B. Appo) raced greenly throughout the event and hung out when rounding the home turn. When pulling up following the event STRONG PRINCIPLES became unbalanced at the 1400m crossing almost dislodging the rider.
Time off: 5.22 p.m.
RACE FOUR : QUINCE (J. Warrington) was reluctant to load and was slow into stride. RISING CURRENCY (K. Waller) was restless in the barriers. AUNTY MARG (J. Baker) jumped inwards making contact with GRANDVITA (M. Aspinall). At approximately the 800m GO JIMMY (R. Goltz) was racing in restricted room to the inside of CHINA AFFAIR (D. Green) and GO GOLLY (S. Warren). RISING CURRENCY was inclined to hang in from the 850m mark to the 800m mark. Jockey J. Warrington (QUINCE) was issued a stern warning for striking his mount with the whip in the vicinity of the neck on several occasions over the concluding stages of the event.
Time off: 5.55 p.m.

RACE FIVE : PREANA ROAD (G. Geran) jumped awkwardly and inwards when the start was effected. STRATHEDEN (B. Appo) jumped away awkwardly. After passing the post SALWAY JEWEL (A. Raby) attempted to jump the crossing at the 1400m.
Time off : 6.35 p.m.

RACE SIX : Jockey S. Shield failed to arrive by the appointed time from another venue and was replaced as the rider of REGAL TWISTER by B. Appo. As the gates opened SUN PRINCESS (D. Green) jumped outwards coming into contact with HALF SMART (M. Sharpley) and at the same time SAW A SIMONE (G. Geran) jumped inwards coming into contact with WATTY’S REQUEST (W. Orbell) resulting in VIVID STORM (J. Warrington) who had jumped in the air, to lose its position. TIGER MALT (A. Gillett) was slow into stride. DEMPENCY (G. Lynch) dwelt and lost ground. DELTONG (K. Blinco) was slow to jump. At approximately the 800m mark WATTY’S REQUEST (W. Orbell) hung inwards taking HANNIBAL LECTER (S. Killen) in, at the same time BRUNELLA (K. Banks) eased resulting in BALLY GIRL (L. Roberts) being forced to check from its heels. Stewards ruled that there were two separate incidents and Jockey Orbell was given the benefit of a very grave doubt and advised of his responsibilities in the future.
Time of: 7.15 p.m.

RACE SEVEN : BUGATTI (T. Dalton) was fractious in the stalls prior to the start being effected. CENTURY EXPRESS (N. Tomizawa) jumped outwards as the gates opened. Passing the winning post on the first time out of the straight TEARS OF GOLD (G. Lynch) eased from the heels of BEYONDA (B. Appo) when that horse shied inwards. Jockey Appo was advised to exercise more care. VAIN TO VEGAS (R. Goltz) over-raced from approximately the 1500m mark to approximately the 1300m mark. It was reported by Jockey T.Dalton (BUGATTI) that his saddle had slipped at approximately the 1200m mark. BEYONDA (B.Appo) was inclined to hang in on the home turn. CENTURY EXPRESS was held up for a clear run approaching the home turn.
Time off : 7.55 p.m.

GENERAL : As Jockey T.Dalton was overweight, he was replaced as follows:

Race Five Watagan Lass M.Aspinall
Jockey Dalton was fined the sum of $100 for breaching AR120(b).
: Following the running of the fourth event Stewards upgraded the track rating from dead to good.
