14th July 2001

Stewards: S Rowe (Chairman), J Childs, W Booshand, L Wheeldon, C Waller.

Weather: Fine Track: Good Rail: 3 Meters

RACE: 1. Miss Impression jumped awkwardly. Sweet Liberty, which was slowly away, was eased shortly after from the heels of Saw Win which shifted in. Approaching the 800 meters Strong Hope was steadied when crowded for room by Diamond Lass, which was taken in by Miss Impression. Saw Win, which failed to finish hung out from the 750 meters making the home turn wide, forcing Strong Hope wider on the track. Trainer J Bannon was advised that Saw Win was required to Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to her next start. Jockey W Orbell was struck in the face by the head of his mount Diamond Lass, which almost fell near the 500 meters. The Doctor subsequently cleared W Orbell to fulfil his engagements. Apprentice B Carne (Miss Impression) was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that near the 500 meters she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Diamond Lass, resulting in Diamond Lass almost falling when striking the heels of Miss Impression. Saw Win, which was following was obliged to shift out abruptly to avoid the heels of Diamond Lass. B Carne was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to take affect as of mid – night 14-07-01 and to expire at mid – night 28-07-01. When considering the penalty Stewards took into account the excellent record of B Carne. Time off 3.55 pm.

Shortly after Rocket Be Good was crowded for room
by Cawdor Warrior which shifted in. Near the 550 meters Mister News was steadied when crowded for room by Cawdor Warrior, which rolled in.
