TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 22nd DECEMBER 2001

RACE 1: BIKELINE CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1018 M

TRIATHLETE jumped in the air lost ground.

DUNBAR was slowly away.

Stewards inquired into the reason SKIP THE COFFEE (G. Lynch) lost ground approaching the 800m. After taking evidence from riders G. Lynch, R. Goltz (OUR BELLAVITA), C. Spry (PENNY DROPS) and J. Warrington (DANCE ‘N’ SWAY) it was established that SKIP THE COFFEE was tightened for room between THE MAROUBRA KID which shifted out and OUR BELLAVITA (R. Goltz) which shifted in. Stewards reprimanded R. Goltz as they believed that he was the main contributor to the incident.

Leaving the 800m STYLISH AMBER and DUNBAR were tightened for room by HARRIER (J. Bryant) which shifted in. J. Bryant was subsequently reprimanded.

Leaving the 550m DUNBAR was taken across the heels of STYLISH AMBER by TRIATHLETE which shifted out to avoid the heels of SKIP THE COFFEE.

BATAAN BAY returned to scale very distressed and subsequently got down in the vicinity of the tie-up stalls whilst under veterinary care. The veterinary inspection revealed that the horse had a respiratory problem however made a gradual and satisfactory recovery. Stewards ordered a Veterinary Certificate prior to next racing together with a complete written report of the gelding’s Pharnyx/Larnyx region.

Riders J. Warrington and G. Lynch were both reprimanded for their conduct on returning to the jockey’s room.

RACE 2: K – MART PLAZA MAIDEN H'CAP – 1219 M

MAJESTIC VISTA was slowly away.

ALL THE BUZ raced greenly in the early and middle stages. Subsequent Veterinary inspection of ALL THE BUZZ which performed disappointingly revealed no abnormalities.

Approaching the 100m HEALER shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running.

Time off 4.46 p.m.

RACE 3: SUNSET SUPERBOWL F & M CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1219 M

EMBEZZLED and MAGIC OF MACKAY made contact on jumping.

FOWEY SPIRIT was slowly away.

SPECIAL SILVER raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Connections advised on the 24/12/01 that EMBEZZLED had pulled up lame. Connections advised a vet’s inspection prior to its next start.

Time off 5.22 p.m.

RACE 4: McDONALD’S TOOWOOMBA WEST CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1219 M

On jumping MANA which had dwelt, was hampered by HIGHFIELD LAD which jumped out.

CYNARA was slowly away.

Time off 5.55 p.m.

RACE 5: BIKELINE CLASS 4 H'CAP – 2088 M

SHECKY’S PRIDE and ARCTIC FLAME came together on jumping.

Time off 6.34 p.m.

RACE 6: THE FRECKLES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1630 M

On jumping SCARS AND STRIPES made contact with the hindquarters of FLYING EMAC.

Leaving the 400m SCARS AND STRIPES was eased from the heels of MYMARDIE (K. Yoshida) which shifted out. K. Yoshida was subsequently reprimanded for permitting his mount the shift out when insufficiently clear to do so.

Leaving the 400m HE’S A TREASURE had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Near the 150m JET BOUND made contact with the hindquarters of SOUTHERN DAUGHTER which shifted out. Time off 7.12 p.m.
RACE 7: TOP OF THE RANGE FOOD SUPPLIES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1630 M

Both WILL RISK and SHEAR PIN slowly away.

Approaching the 1200m WILL RISK shifted out abruptly whilst being eased from the heels of DIPPERMOUTH which shifted out abruptly when being eased from the heels of KWILENA.

Approaching the 700m SHADZERO was steadied when crowded for room by TRUMP DOMINION.

Jockey S. Apthorpe was found guilty of a charge of careless riding for allowing his mount PADDOCK CHAMP to shift in approaching the 500m causing ANOTHER ANNIE to check inward and come into contact with DIPPERMOUTH. Jockey S. Apthorpe suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 meetings commencing midnight December 22, 2001 up to and including midnight, January 1, 2002.

Nearing the 400m SHADZERO hung in behind TRUMP DOMINION.

Approaching the 300m KUTISHA’S BOY was checked from the heels of HURRICANE WARNING which was tiring.

Jockey L. Morrison cautioned for allowing her mount TRUMP DOMINION to shift in nearing the 300m taking CHIP IT IN in.

Time off 7.55 p.m.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.

17/12/01: Trainer T Sears reported that Romantic Bay was sore in front after competing at the Roma meeting on 15/12/01.

18/12/01: Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the reason RIP WOODCHIP (K Purdy) lost ground shortly after the start in race 8 at the Dalby meeting on 29/11/01.

After taking evidence from riders K Purdy (RIP WOODCHIP), L McCoy (CHATTONIC LADY) and K Yoshida (ROMARNI’S REWARD), it was established that RIP WOODCHIP made contact with the hindquarters of NAMALLI when taken in by CHATTONIC LADY, which shifted in and away from ROMARNI’S REWARD, which shifted in marginally.

Stewards took no action against any rider as they were of the opinion that the main contributor to the incident was CHATTONIC LADY, by shifting away from ROMARNI’S REWARD.
