TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 31ST AUGUST 2002

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – 1M.

REPLACEMENTS

C Eaton (WALLUMBAH GOLD) replaced A Merritt who was still under suspension.

RACE 1: BW & PK JAHNKE PTY LTD CLASS 2 H'CAP – 900M.

MIAMI DRIVE was slowly away.

Time off 4.22 pm.

RACE 2: MF & PM SEDL PTY LTD MAIDEN H'CAP – 1003M.

On returning to scale R Goltz rider of the 5th horse JANEY JEAN lodged an objection against MERVYN (G Lynch) being declared 3rd for alleged interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from riders, connections and viewing of the film, stewards dismissed the objection as they were of the opinion that the degree of interference and taking into account the margin between both at the finish, did warrant the placing to be changed.

OVERSTON jumped in the air as the gates opened.

At the start JANEY JEAN was hampered between CUDDLIN’, which jumped in and MERVYN, which jumped out.

VISA CARD, MY MISS SPRITELY, BONNE BELIEVER and DIVA DIVINE were slowly away.

Leaving the 800m JANEY JEAN was steadied when MERVYN shifted out abruptly whilst racing greenly.

Approaching the 400m MERVYN got its head up whilst being eased from heels.

Near the 400m SECRET GARDENS, which knuckled, shifted in and made contact with the running rail. BOLD ANTICIPATION, which was following, was obliged to be eased.

DIVA DIVINE was inclined to lie out in the home straight.

Leaving the 100m JANEY JEAN was steadied when MERVYN shifted out.

MERVYN took out JANEY JEAN, over the concluding stages.

VISA CARD raced greenly throughout.


RACE 3: GILLAM HOMES CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1103M.

B Swanton (FOREVER AMEN) replaced L Roberts who failed to arrive on course by the required time. Stewards subsequently accepted the explanation of L Roberts.

CAPANNELLE and LEICA NARROW were slowly away.

CASH ‘N’ CARRY (R Goltz) whilst racing in restricted room to the inside of ALL NATIVE (G Lynch), brushed the fence on a number of occasions from the 600m until the home turn. G Lynch was reprimanded for placing CASH ‘N’ CARRY in restricted room for some distance.

Time off 5.41 pm.

RACE 4: ST ANTHONY’S FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1203M.

KEPT IN PLAY, ZINTA, LOOK THERE and HOW NEAT were slowly away.

Near the 1100m LOOK THERE was taken in by HOW NEAT (B Appo). B Appo was advised of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.

Approaching the 800m HOW NEAT got its head up whilst being steadied.

Leaving the 200m ZENOBIA was steadied when hampered by MISS D’VINA, which took a tight run to its inside.

Once placed under pressure in the home straight, HOW NEAT was inclined to lie in.

Time off 6.15 pm.

RACE 5: ORFORD SIGN SHOP CLASS 5 H'CAP – 1303M.

At the start SHANNON LEE, COSMIC COMET and SWIFT COVE were hampered by SILVERTHORNE, which shifted out and away from PEDRO THE SWIFT, which jumped out.

Leaving the 400m BOLD TYCOON was held up for clear running until the early stages of the home straight.

On the point of the home turn COSMIC COMET and SHANNON LEE made contact.

Approaching the 100m SHANNON LEE was steadied away from the heels of COSMIC COMET, which shifted out.

Time off 6.55 pm.





RACE 6: SUBWAY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1303M.

S Richardson (GOD LOVE IT) replaced M Heagney who failed to fulfil his engagement. Stewards will interview M Heagney at a latter date.

I USED TO DREAM and SPOT ON ALICE made contact on jumping.

SNEAKY BREEZE and WAITAWHERO GOLD were slowly away.
Leaving the 1000m CLIPS was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance.

Approaching the 800m MANTARA LAD got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of GOD LOVE IT (S Richardson), which shifted in. S Richardson was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground.

Approaching the 300m TIMBER TYCOON, which was held for clear running, shifted out making contact with MANTARA LAD.

Time off 7.37 pm.

RACE 7: ALQUIP PTY LTD MAIDEN H'CAP – 1203M.

EYES FOREVER and KAZAKH BEAU were slowly away.

Leaving the 800m EYES FOREVER was crowded for room by HILLGROVE EXPRESS, which shifted in to avoid the heels of DO AS I SAY, whilst pulling hard.

Leaving the 800m BLUE CHERUB was eased away from the heels of IN SYNC.

Leaving the 400m SEQURA, which was taken out by EYES FOREVER, made contact with KING AND CAPTAIN.

Shortly after KING AND CAPTAIN, which shifted in initially, then shifted out abruptly, hampering BUSH PILOT and IN SYNC. As a consequence of the incident BUSH PILOT and IN SYNC were forced wide on the home turn.

Approaching the 100m BLUE CHERUB was disappointed for a run.

R Goltz (SEQURA) reported his mount raced ungenerously when racing between horses.

Time off 8.13 pm.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
