RACE 1:ALQUIP MAIDEN H'CAP - 1505M.

TIGER VISION was slowly away.

Leaving the 1100m LITTLE CROWN got its head up whilst being steadied.

Leaving the 500m OH TO ZIGZAG lost ground whilst being eased from the heels of KING AND CAPTAIN, which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Leaving the 400m KING AND CAPTAIN shifted out and brushed MUKTI.

LOVE AND GOLD shifted out over the concluding stages.

A veterinary examination of OH TO ZIGZAG, which weakened quickly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Time off: 1.57 PM.

RACE 2:LEN PATTI MOTORS CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1303M.

SOMETHING FOR KATE and HOT FOOTING were slowly away.

CEANMOHR jumped out coming into contact with DREAM OF YOU.

BANDIT ROCKS and LAURISTON ROSE made contact on jumping.

SOMETHING FOR KATE got its head up for some distance leaving the 1100m whilst over - racing.

Near the 800m LETS TOUCH BASE was steadied when momentarily crowded for room by CRYSTAL GAZE.

Approaching the 400m HOT FOOTING was crowded for room by CEANMOHR, which was taken in by BANDIT ROCKS.

Leaving the 200m HOT FOOTING was momentarily held up for clear running.

CEANMOHR laid in over the concluding stages.

Leaving the 200m BANDIT ROCKS shifted in under pressure.

Time off: 2.32 PM.

RACE 3: HAPPY NEW YEAR ENTIRES & GELDINGS CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1103M.

PERONISTA and ACKDAK were slowly away.

ARMANENT jumped out as the gates opened.

Shortly after the start MR MILO and JOEKEN made contact.

Approaching the 800m SUPERSTAR LEO got its head whilst being eased.

Leaving the 400m PERONISTA was steadied when cramped for room by MERLE'S BOY, which shifted in.

Approaching the 350m ACKDAK was checked when tightened for room by STAR ON THE RISE (B Appo), which shifted in. B Appo was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear.

MERLE'S BOY raced wide throughout.

A veterinary examination of STAR ON THE RISE, which performed disappointingly, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Time off: 3.07 PM.

RACE 4:ALLEN VOLTZ & FAMILY FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1103M.

CHUQUITITA jumped away awkwardly.

TEMPESTES and STAR OF THE MIDNIGHT made contact on jumping.

Shortly after the start STAR OF THE MIDNIGHT shifted out and made contact with NOTICE.

Near the 1000m SNOWY WEATHER, which was lying in, made contact with NOTICE.

Leaving the 1000m TEMPESTES was eased when tightened for room between STAR OF THE MIDNIGHT, which shifted in marginally and REIMS, which was taken out by CLANGABLE.

Leaving the 600m for some distance CHIQUITITA was eased from the heels of PRINCESS FIONA as the paced slowed.

Approaching the 500m CLANGABLE was checked when it hung out onto the heels of CHIQUITITA.

REIMS, which was following was eased from the heels of CLANGABLE.

Leaving the 300m REIMS was held up for clear running.

Approaching the 250m TEMPESTES shifted out and made contact with SNOWY WEATHER.

BETTORI was forced to race wide throughout.

Time off: 3.45 PM.

RACE 5:MASGOLD LABOUR HIRE CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1103M.

ULTRA SWING was slowly away.

At the start PERSIAN CHARM jumped out taking BON VIVEUR onto NOR NOVA.

Near the 900m ARBEE was momentarily crowded for room by PERSIAN CHARM.

Approaching the 800m ROMAN COUNTY got its head up whilst being steadied.

Leaving the 800m PERSIAN CHARM was eased from the heels of ARBEE, which shifted out to avoid the heels of ROMAN COUNTY.

Near the 300m ULTRA SWING was forced wider on the track by PERSIAN CHARM, which shifted out to avoid the heels of ROMAN COUNTY.

Approaching the 200m GLOUCESTER ROAD was momentarily held up for clear running.

Time off: 4.29 PM.

RACE 6:LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT GROUP CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1505M.

MAST, LUSKIN WARRIOR and BRAVE GENTLEMAN were slowly away.

FOLLOW THE MAESTRO and BANNING'S PAGE made contact on jumping.

Approaching the 500m LUILATUI blundered when it clipped the heels of FLYING FEET.

BRAVE GENTLEMAN, which was following was steadied in the incident.

BANNING'S PAGE raced wide throughout.

Time off: 5.05 PM

RACE 7:QTIS 2-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP - 1203M.

WAR BETSY and FIRST FLEET jumped awkwardly.

EBONY SMILE and SEAL SOUFFLE made contact on jumping. EBONY SMILE then shifted out coming into contact with LIBRE PISTE.

Shortly after the start GREENBACK shifted out coming into contact with SEAL SOUFFLE.

LIBRE PISTE hung away from runners to its inside in the middle stages.

On the point of the home turn PICATUNE shifted out and made contact with SPRITELY DANCER.

MUSTANG'S MATE shifted out abruptly near the 200m and shifted out over the concluding stages.

When questioned about the disappointing performance of EBONY SMILE, Jockey G Geran stated that he could offer no reason for the disappointing performance.

RACE 8:QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP -1203M.

RUN THE ROSES lost ground when it jumped in the air the gates opened.

At the start SPECIAL CROWN was hampered by HOLOGRAPHIC, which jumped out.

At the start HEIKI FLYER was hampered by TELTREE, which jumped out.

OVERRUN jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 950m TELTREE was steadied from the heels of LAVINIA MARY.

Leaving the 900m for some distance HOLOGRAPHIC was eased from the heels of LOS ALTOS.

OVERRUN, which was following was eased from the heels of HOLOGRAPHIC.

Near the 850m TEMPLE JACK, whilst being eased from the heels of OVERRUN, shifted in tightening the running of HEIKI FLYER and TELTREE, resulting in TELTREE, HEIKI FLYER and TEMPLE JACK all being checked.

TEMPLE JACK then shifted out coming into heavy contact with MONCHERO.

Leaving the 550m TELTREE was eased from the heels of LAVINIA MARY.

C Maund (LAVINIA MARY) accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.

Time off: 6.25 pm.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.

30/12/03: Trainer J Hanna reported that his stable vet gave CHIEF QUALO a thorough examination and was unable to find any abnormality. Mr Hanna stated that the only reason he could give for the disappointing performance is that he may have backed CHIEF QUALO up too quickly and in the future he intends to space his runs.
